maybe now, but not when Thom was in his prime. And honestly they are two totally different players. Tommy has the speed but Thom has the personality and flair. If you want a 'eat'em for breakfast' player, Jerry Reed was the king of them all. He could smoke just about every player, but in addition he had a great voice and wrote the hell out of songs.

I agree totally. To say Tommy Emmanuel would eat Thom for breakfast is just ridiculous. I admired them both for years and have seen them play together many times. When it comes to finger style Tommy is not in the same league as Bresh. They are very different styles and I really don't see the comparison. There is always someone on youtube that wants to be insulting and negative.

you just need to dig a little deeper. Tommy's great but a lot of his hook is his being from down undah. There are players in the USA that can hang with him and compose just as beautifully. Not saying it's a foot race, just saying he can play - but then again, have you heard Leo Kottke's early stuff before his hand injury? How about Lenny Breau? Adrian Legg is another great but semi-unheard of player. And of course there's always my hero - Jerry Reed :)
