What I got out of this movie is that you have to be a free thinking individual, and not conform with what the institutions in society tell us we should believe in. A person shouldn't be defined by their material possessions and the money in their bank account. Also you must be happy with yourself and not try to be like another individual because we are all essentially different and unique.

It makes me realize that all of these interpreters are becoming exactly what Tyler was shaping throughout the movie: An army of people who see things the way he wants you to see him. The movie tells me society is bad, but its fine that way. It says A is bad, but B is worse, but C is okay because it-

Actually the movie doesn't tell us society is bad, it paints the protagonist as an individual with dissociative personality disorder, and makes the average man feel uneasy with jaded and displaced cinematography. If anything, it doesn't tell us anything, it leaves it up to the viewer. Is Tyler's dream a horror or a fantasy? That's up to us to decide. Those of us who are not comfortable with our lives often decide that it's the latter.
