@3kour er i'm sorry but he comes from putney, london, and that is a middle-class southwest london accent if ever i heard one. i know this because it's MY HOME TOWN! AND I'VE SEEN HIM IN IT! and DJ-ing at corsica studios, also in south london. ok?! america does not own four tet. and if he was american why would he be doing a track with burial (the most london musician ever) and thom yorke? some kind of exchange program?!
@territorialpisser omg! do you not read, this has become hot topic, and i've said now five times all over this video that i was wrong! i ate my pie i understood i was wrong, move on!
@deancoxxx please read i got it wrong, honestly i understood i was wrong a minute after i posted it, the wiki article was wrong and that is why i said it.. please i've commented too much for you not to have seen my other posts, leave me alone!
@3kour For the record, Thom Yorke and Burial are British aswell, afaik they all currently live in the greater London area. Collaborations such as these are made easy because of that :)
@ChromeBallz I KNOW, it was a dodgy article that i read, i seriously don't understand how everyones missed the 30 or so comments i've wrote on this saying i was wrong... please i've understood my mistake!
@ihatepat66 i hope you're just trying to be overly facetious now seeing as there is a post two down from yours that states that i understand i am wrong and my facts were down to a badly wrote article i read!
Part 2: And daydreamers but go slow cause the loose-talkers yeah I bet you get this all the time you love this go get this they're workers yeah I bet you get this all the time I bet they just throw themselves at you Yeah I bet you get this all the time Can't make this any clearer I can't make this any simpler Still passing through my fingers I bet you get this all the time Daydreamers You love it Sweet talkers Yeah I bet you get this all the time I bet they just throw themselves at you
Part 1: (I don't want to ever regret) (I don't want to ever regret) (I don't want to ever regret) I feel light from my feet From away you look at me you open up the universe yeah I bet you get this all the time I'll crumble when you touch my wings But it's okay 'cause I'm that thin I'm tougher than you think yeah I bet you get this all the time And no-hopers the overwhelms the sweet-talkers I bet you bet you get this all the time I bet they just throw themselves at you
I like Marmite so much that I'm thinking of smearing the stuff all over my face and body and running outside naked, writhing all over the middle of the road, rubbing it into every orifice and licking any from the tarmac that comes off.
@TheKimberleybiscuit We don't want it to be top of the charts, the artists don't want it to be top of the charts. There has always been a difference between popular music and art music. Popularity tends to ruin people's artistic integrity and we wouldn't want this watered down to appeal to a stupid, philistine audience.
@ignoranttwat My comment suggests nothing of the sort. Stupidity is present in abudance in all sections of society. Rich and poor alike suck from the teet of commercialism and so commercialism becomes the reason behind everything. Everything becomes an industry. Thus the vast majority of popular music is made to sell rather than to explore the expression of sound. You obviously have a chip on your shoulder about the proletariat and so imagined imaginary meanings within my comment.
What I mean is that your comment has an elitist tone. If something is at the top of the charts then it is popular with the masses, you are saying that taste is relative to intelligence. That is false. It is relative to the culture which an individual is part of (and of course the experiences of that individual within that culture).
If we were living 200 years ago you would be making a similar comment, with folk music in the place of pop music and perhaps Beethoven in the place of Burial, Four Tet and Thom Yorke.
@ignoranttwat I shall have to disagree. Taste in music is not relative to culture or experience to any meaningful extent unless you do not have a full appreciation of the art in the piece. Music is abstract, therefore the appreciation is objective. Some are better at the art of music than others, both in appreciation and production; more musical than others.
I think it is imbecilic in the extreme to say that appreciation of music have is unrelated to intelligence; what of varying complexity?
@nickshel There are two ways to classify popular music. 1. A certain style/band is good and so becomes popular. Record labels come along and pick up the talent. It becomes pop. (The Beatles). This I can like. 2. The corporations take an individual, create a "personality". The whole concept of this person and their music has been created by the corporation, even their songs written. This process can be revealed by gut-wrenching reality tv shows to insure instant popularity. Mime + autotune often.
I know this is personal experience, so it doesn't mean much, but I have known stupid people to listen to "complex" music and intelligent people to listen to stuff off the charts, that's why I said what I said and I stick by it.
So why do you suggest that it would be bad for this to get to the top of the charts (in a manner similar to The Beatles, perhaps)?
@ignoranttwat This is massively different from the Beatles. The Beatles became known for their talent in the time of the counter culture, this meant the majority of their fame was among people who were questioning the music and concepts presented by the establishment. They became "pop stars" because independant minds who liked their music bought it. There is no such large group of independant minded people around today; for these artists to be accepted they would, like I said, have to water down
@ignoranttwat I'm not romanticising anything. They did sell out. But they didn't sell out to anywhere near the degree that the modern "celebrity" does. They carried on doing what they had done before. They didn't decide it was time for a career selling trainers or whatever. Let's finish this because it's getting long. Basically my original point was that in the era we are living in popular music is a corporate husk: people go to the top who the corporations want to. These guys don't want that.
@nickshel Burial's never gunna go mainstream is he lets be honest, the man refuses fame, hence his music has stayed true to its roots, more artists need to do it for love of the music not the attention,
@darunninman1 couldn't agree more, burial and Four Tet are a bliss blends together and thom can make sound fit with loads of styles, and has been proved time and time again after each album and even his solo stuff, i hope he gets the recognition he is due in a few years, a complete musical genious.... sublime stuff again, looking forward to (if ever) there is a studio album released by the trio...
