  • thanks :) this is very helpful

  • Could you please make a video to show erhu is tuned. I bought a new erhu and don't know how to tune it.

  • @yakmanok u need a tuner, then u can tune to the correct tone. :)

  • Is there any major differance when putting strings on an erhu where the peg and the part the string is threaded onto are connected by gears?

  • Thanks! very helpful!

  • Can anyone tell me when to change strings? I've been using mine for about 4 months and they're looking a little....ragged.

  • what notes do you usually tune the strings to?

and is the notation for erhu the same as normal music?

  • My erhu is missing a qianjin. And I am unsure if you need specific strings for the instrument. Is there a certain type of string that goes to the erhu?? And where can I purchase a qianjin?

  • Are both strings the same, one of my strings broke, so I bought new ones but they have a bit of blue on the top. Are both the strings on teh erhu the same material etc, or no?

  • wow :P

  • hey can i ask? the string and the bow stick are stick together? am i right?

  • @RedCloud15 The bow hair is between the strings.

  • Not possible. Both are distinctly different instruments.

  • please, can someone tell me what that white thing around the neck of the erhu is called?

  • @foooshle It is called qianjin.

  • @tansungwah thanks, as soon as I had typed in the question I saw the answer in your video. I thought I had cancelled my comment, but apparently not:o)

  • Never mind, I think you turned the right way, just worded the other way around. .

  • I think you got the turn of the peg mixed up, it should be other way around, or else you will create a X between your two strings.

  • they use that to make the Wii song search up KODO

  • I think they use a Shamisen which is a Japanese instrument similar in appearance to the erhu to make the Wii song music thing.

  • so does this apply to jinghu as well?

and are there special strings for it?

cause i ned a string for the lowest peg...:(

  • This is a great video. Thank you for your effort.

  • Whats a good place to order the strings from in the US?

Or maybe I can use strings from a different instrument (guitar, violin, etc.) If that is so, what gauge strings should I get?

  • You can order from our online store: Just google Eason Enterprises

  • Thanks for the info.

  • thanks!! erm but how do you fix erhu strings for those erhus with the metal kind of things?haha dunno how to explain

  • Mechanical tuning pegs.

    Haha -.-

  • Perfect on stringing the erhu and many sifus or players wonder why their erhu goes out of tune. Forgot to loop the first lead across the string peg!

  • Thank you! Thank you!! Thank you!!!

I just broke my string, and had no idea how to tie the new string to the peg. Your video is very detailed and taught me how to bring my erhu back to life in no time. This is an excellent video for all of us erhu newbies! :-)

  • Thanks for your lessons. They are very well explicated.

  • very nice TY
