  • Strange that the best performance of this song on the tube is with Johnny singing.

It's not Johnny that that carries it though. It's all about the King.

I love Gary's playing but he struggled playing Ed's part in this song during Ed's absence in the late seventies. Who wouldn't?

  • There are parts in this song that people have no idea,

ALMOST no one plays it right, There is layer after layer

of overdubs of AWESOME guitar voicing in this song.

    Sweet Home Alabama Legendary work

of the Great MR Ed KING. Heavy on the MR.

  • Mr Ed King California, 1:32 his tone is UNFREAKING REAL

thats HEAVY on the MR, you are looking at the BEST THERE IS,

makes the lead players in 99% of ALL other bands want to pack their shit up

and go sit in the bus.

  • Is that Artimus back there?

  • Is that Ed King? The guy with the glasses, man he looks different.

  • @TNMinuteMan no this guy's name is Randall Hall. I personally don't like him :)

  • @BudMovies Dude, the guy in the green shirt, sunglasses, overalls, thats Ed man. Randall is the one with the long hair and headband playing the seafoam blue strat.

  • @TNMinuteMan ok sorry. i always thought that this guy was randall hall. sorry :)

  • @BudMovies no your fine dude, I just did some reading and google surfing.

  • Johnny looks sooooo nervous

  • never knew luigi played guitar.... mario must be upset

  • Dnload the audio from this clip at speedyconversion doht cohm.

  • I was at the 1987 on the field at the at the front stage waving the rebel flag while a friend was kicking someone's ass

  • Ein echt Cooler Song, ich liebe ihn sehr !

  • No one gonna mention Ga Ga sges everywhere on you tube,

Every classic rock song, has a rerence to

ga ga this and ga ga that, and ga ga cant do this or anyone that listens

to Ga Ga should try this, I simply wish ed king would

sticj the tip of his strat up Ga Gas ass, with no lube and play the lead to

Freebird on 10. with a smoking cig on it as well.

would that satisfy the crucify Ga Ga clan or do the need more?

  • This line up certainly lacks the stage presence of Allen or Ricky...

  • You can get this mp3 at audiogetnow..com

  • why aint ed still in there=[...hes better than rickey and hes a actual original member!

  • +1 for ed king Sweet!

  • I just got the LP for this tour....so damn sweet is to hear this on the original record and with a smoke in my hand....

  • wow, they sure changed over the 10 years time span, especially Gary.

Where is Allen? he died in the 90s right,

  • @IncensePeppermints68 Allen had a car wreck-had been in a wheelchair--ended up dying from Pneumonia complications

  • @IncensePeppermints68 Allen</3 Pianist Billy Powell also passed on in 2009. Leaving gary as the only surviving original member still in the band.

  • Randalls solo at 5:17 is just plain sexy. i think i had an eargasm.

  • Ed King was clearly the most original guitar player in L.S. In fact to the extent that Al Kooper, who produced the original studio version, thought he played the solos in the wrong key! LOL

In fact playing them in the key of G instead of D is exactly what makes them so great! I mean, he saw both solos in a dream ... Believe it or not!

  • Amazing... 1st solo starts @ 1:33 - on the studio version its @ 1:34 pretty damn close!

  • What's so funny in 0:22? Only a idiot thinkin' that's funny, but I'm not.

  • its just billy havin' fun

  • @kietlennon u r an idiot

  • no youre wrong, that face is pretty damn funny

  • Woah... In 1980's Lynyrd Skynyrd's hair styles are changed! I couldn't recognized them for the first time I've seen this video, but now, I could!

  • Ed King is simply amazing here.

  • Even cousin JIMMIE VAN ZANT and Amanda Overmyer sang this same song Sweet Home ALABAMA in a song Duet on August 5-6, 2009 at the STURGIS BIKE RALLY ... also posted on the YOUTUBE. Check them out.

  • Thats sounds cool I do that thanks for the tip.

  • hvar diese einen guten Song

  • i completely agree with you but hannah montana and miley cyrus are the same person

  • good comment!!!!!!

  • which is one is gary

  • Long curly black hair, plays the Les Paul.

  • and the black cowboy hat

  • I don't uderstand who gave this man thumbs down - he was just curious. And I'm glad to see him willing to learn more about great band of Lynyrd Skynyrd. Keep it goin', discover great music, man!

  • he's the one with the black cow boy hat and long brown hair

  • Gary Rossington--still with the band

  • Hrd this in the Tribute Tour album, but they had Donnie Van Zant, Charlie Daniels, Steve Morse, and a couple of others joining in on the singing and playing of this one. Wish there was a video posted her of that one...:)

  • yall thats ronnie's brother

  • Thats so good I was sad to hear when Ed got sick with congestive heart failure and Gary didn't want to wait for him to recover or see if he would recover. And then a few years later Gary has coronary bypass surgery.

  • It's good to see Ed playing the song that he co-wrote the lyrics & music for. I saw them in the summer of 88 in Columbia, S.C. and I wondered who the fat guy in the overalls was. I looked on the back of the Tribute CD and it said Ed King. I still didn't know who he was until recently when I read the liner notes for the Original Muscle Shoals Album.

  • this shit never gets old

  • what guitar does ED' have here?

  • Pensa Suhr.. i ordered one :D

  • looks like a fender.

  • soz thts randall hall, ye ed has a pensa suhr.
