  • I love how this routine is all about twisties. More elegant, impossible.

  • If she had a 3 1/2 twist she wouldve beat chellsie...

  • soooo skinny!!

  • Shes so graceful she is AWSOME

  • isnt she only like 16 in this video?

  • most of her passes here are twists as in like 2.5 and everything

  • @XxSportyMusicGirlxX it's because of her build. slim bodies are very suitable for twisting.

  • I always thought that leo looked like something a gay spiderman would wear

  • really really good

  • I wonder how she would have tumbled in '08 if she hadn't had so many ankle problems. Didn't she compete a 3.5 twist at one point? I heard she had her quad, and she WAS training a double layout in '06....

  • @kras118

I don't think there would be a big difference. Her puberty is what really hindered her tumbling, and that would have came with or without the ankle injury.

She will never nor could ever compete a DLO due to her body style.

Honestly I doubt the tumbling would have changed much. One could argue the triple twist but why would she take that risk when she could do a 5/2 twist with less deduction.

Come 2008 I don't even know if she could do a triple.

  • @FlicTuckFull it's not puberty alone. If she wouldn't have sustained an ankle injury, it could be assumed that she would have kept training as an elite gymnast. This constant training keeps the body it a certain physical shape that does not allow for some of the growths that come with puberty. Anyway, what I mean to say is that she would not have been as tall and most likely have been able to continue her tumbling style.

  • @481095ymg2

True, her ankle injury affected her tumbling, but she wouldn't have been able to pull her 3.5 twist for example even if she hadnt sustained the injujry.

  • @FlicTuckFull I agree that it would be unlikely, but there is truly no way we can no.

  • @481095ymg2 Puberty and common sense could help us though ...

  • @FlicTuckFull gacoa hoa ahacac H geka

  • @CalebGete

    yees

  • @481095ymg2

    Common sense.

  • @FlicTuckFull Of course she could do triples. She's an elite gymnast, you don't just lose the ability to wack in an extra half twist to what she was used to in 2008.

  • @willsbob123

Yes, you do just lose the ability.

Puberty, along with her ankle injury made back tumbling very difficult for her. She didn't do BHS once she had her injury, so she'd have to do her triple.

Could she chuck a triple? Yea, probably, but it would probably be horribly messy, she probably wouldn't complete it/she'd just fall on the landing.

Gymnasts lose skills all the time due to injuries or puberty.

  • @FlicTuckFull I know they do, look at Cheng fei a quater way through 2008, she put on a few pounds and filled out a little, but it didn't stop her from performing her renowned skills beautifully. However, I do understand where you're coming from with Nastia, her ankle probably was sensative with backward landings but I still believe if she would have tried a triple back in 2008, she would have got it round - And no, you don't lose the ability physically, but mentally.

  • @willsbob123

What? You don't lose the ability physically, but mentally? That's saying that an elite gymnast who retired, lets say 8 years ago could come back and pull the hardest skill now that they could then?

No, it doesn't work that way. If anything it is the reverse - a gymnast's body can mentally remember how to perform the skill, but physically their body can't do it.

  • @FlicTuckFull Actually you're correct with your the point about the physical/mental side. However, I'm not saying a gymnast who has retired 10 years ago could do their hardest tumble now, a triple twist for Nastia isn't her hardest tumble, you ask her to do a hsp double front now and no she wouldn't be able to do it, but I'm not talking about her doing her hard skills now, but in 2008, and the fact that she would be able to triple twist then.

  • @willsbob123

Perhaps. Who's to say? But seeing as she'd have to do it from a round-off alone, and the fact that the girl never TRULY completed it even in 2005 WITH a BHS, I think common sense is leading me towards my opinion.

  • @FlicTuckFull That's quite hilarious, you can blatanly see she completes the triple twist here, and in other routines in 2005. She could 3.5 twist so I don't know what you're taking. If she wouldn't have been credited with the value of her triple in this routine, the s.v would have gone from 9.900, to something lower.

  • @willsbob123

Look at her feet - both are not pointing square to the corner she started in. Yes, the triple clearly would have counted, but she never truly completed it.

Actually any larger twisting that involved Nastia landing facing back to the corner she started in was always short. Her 2.5 here isn't fully completed either, one ankle is 90 degrees from the starting corner.

Look at Asac's triple. She lands with more of her ankles point square to the corner she began at.

  • @FlicTuckFull No, that is rubbish. Asac has a completely different body type to Nastia, more power - when she does a triple twist its huge, and high and rolls and is ofc completed, just because Nastia's isn't as high doesn't mean she doesn't complete it. When she lands she dances out of her tumbles - so after the triple she throws he arms up and her feet turn out, it's how she's been trained dance wise, so the point you'e trying to make about the triple and 2.5 twist is rubbish and untrue.

  • @willsbob123

Body style means nothing. Alicia sets up and then pulls, where as Nastia pulls right off the floor.

Pause the second she hits the ground, especially on the front 2.5. Her feet are not completely square to the corner. And the "dancing out of it by turning her ankles" makes no logical sense. Dancing out of a tumble, I get, but why would someone land with their ankles turned to make it look dancier?

  • @FlicTuckFull Because that's how she's been trained balletically. And body types mean nothing? Are you kidding me? Look at Asacs legs compared to Nastia's, and her frame - she's more broad, Nastia is basically a twig here. I do admit, she does pull of the floor, but it doesn't mean that she does this '90 degree' thing with her feet when she lands, it's just rubbish.

  • @willsbob123

Body type means nothing when it comes to basic technique such as setting and THEN twisting on a triple twist. It doesn't matter what your body type is, that is what you have to do.

You can SEE when she lands that she does it, so I mean, ignore it if you want but it's there, especially on her front 2.5.

Being trained in ballet doesn't change the technique you're suppose to use on tumbling so ...

  • shes so skinny!

  • she is hammered

  • i don't understand why she didn't do the triple twist in beijing!!!

    she performed it so well!!!

did she get trouble with that skill????

  • @chocolatefan1711 Nah, she just had trouble with skills that landed backwards after her ankle injury. She mostly did forward landing skills from 2006-2008 (2 1/2 twist dismount on beam, 1 1/2 Yurchenko vault, double front on floor, double front half out dismount on uneven bars). Notice her third tumbling line on floor in Beijing usually had a struggle because of the backwards landing.

  • wow just wow. triple twist? do you have any idea how had that is let alone to land it...

  • Comment removed

  • A triple tuck?

  • triple twist

  • well shes taller cuz shes 5' 3''

  • It's all the muscle she's been training her whole life.

  • Wow, I love this routine the most. I think it's more elegant than her current floor routine now.

  • Comment removed

  • shes the 2nd Svetlana Khorkina skpoakspoaksopkaps

  • She is an amazing gymnats and looks like my friend. Gymnastics rocks.

  • Nastia is so so skinny!!!

  • I am surprise she got the silver with 3 passes. Usually those who win medals at 2005 and beyond usually have four and maybe even 5 passes.

  • 4-5 passes didn't become so necessary until 2006 with the new COP.

  • does she have a 10.0 start value? can't believe that she could got a 10.0 with 3 tumbling passes

  • dance elements...

and it was a 9.9 SV

  • If she would have performed her 3.5 twists it would be a s.v 10.000.

  • That or if she had done a triple turn like she did at the SUI vs USA meet earlier tha tyear.

  • Really, wow, thanks :D

  • does any one know where to get her floor music from?

    yea she looks sooo skinnny

  • I have this song on my channel!

  • I think her 08 music suits her better though, gives her more room to be graceful.

  • Totally agree.

  • what;s the name of this song???? can someone tell me asap...thanx!!!!!!!!!

  • any double back^^

  • I wonder if she can do a double back

  • piked or laidout? i cant picture her doing a dbl pike but i think she could pull a dbl layout.

  • Yeah there is a training montage of her somewhere on youtube where she is working double layouts on floor!

  • she can but she is much better at twisting and stuff so she does that. Her double front is good.

  • I am absolutely in love with this routine.

  • anyone think beijing was reminiscent of 2005 worlds? she hasent been that good and consistent in a competiton since this one...and her medaling on floor

    go nastia 5 medals!!! =]

  • that's because she was injured for 2006 and 2007 worlds

2005 and 2008 were her best years because she was healthy and more prepared

  • lmao gymnasticsforever thanks for the info!:D

  • Why doesnt she do any double somersaulting tumbling passes?

  • b/c shes better at twisting. now she does a double front b/c of requirements in the new code

  • she does nowm she does a double front

  • but i've seen her doing a double layout at training. probably she'll get it.

  • that was only on a tumble track and on good ankles, I don't think she'll be doing those anymore

  • cause she doesnt needed here ...

  • to newdeal87:shut up get a life if u dont build a brige and get over it.hellooo

  • does anyone know the song's name ?¿

  • The song is called "The second killed"

  • her triple twist was brilliant here :)

  • Agreed..sufficient height and speed

  • she can do a quad.

  • its insane

    i've always wanted her music

    i'm a level ten too

  • yeah....i found a versoin of it!!! i am using it now!

  • do u still want her music? i have a copy!

  • me & nastia have like the exact same body except shes like 500 times better than me

    im only a level 7 =[

  • yeah same with me...except i'm a level 10.

  • i8 cant belive she mad event finals. this was her best world championships.

  • omg 0:41-0:48 AMAZING xD

  • Nastia Liukin is the most beautifull gymnast! <3

  • is twisting dismount the only one she is capable of?

  • no, now she does a front handspring double front. its awesome. shes great.

  • font Hs double is her opening pass. sh won like 5 stinkin medals at this worlds. holoym cow. i cant belive she medaled on floor. now she cant because at worlds or olympics they wouldnt dare put her on floor shes not good on landings and steps out of bounds somtimes.

  • Er well thats weird since she got bronze in the olympics on floor this year..=P

  • Yea, she got bronze because her ankle underwent surgery in 07' and new gymnasts came onto the international scene. A gymnast can easily be world champion one year and then not even medal the next.

  • no...she can double front too.

  • Muito foda minha "irmã" hasudhasu zuera bem que eu queria dhasudhsauhasu xD

  • she came second

  • did she come first

  • I wish I had her legs... :(

  • you're an idiot!! as a coach that is VERY offensive!!

  • Her Coach is her father!!

  • LOL!!! oops

  • Nastia is amazing, of coarse gymnastics is hard work.. but it doesn't mean she hates life you, stupid idiot

  • "newdeal87

i bet she hates her life."

    Nope.

Oh and her name is NASTIA.

  • haha thx i just realized i spelled it wrong

  • @andyl55

het OFFICIAL name is Anastasia ;)

  • she is sooo skinny. long legs. i love her.

  • i think she does very well, and if she wouldnt like it she wouldnt be that succesful!!! she lives in america, nobody can force her to do this. think about that.

  • i agree!

  • i bet she hates her life.

  • yeah, I bet, considering she's the most successful gymnast so far this quad. I bet she REALLY hates life. idiot.

  • if you watch any of the the STT Blueroom videos with her you can see that she loves sushi

  • On her myspace, her about me specifically says "I love my life. =]", and that's all it says. Enough said? I think so.

  • wow, she's so skinny!
