NOW EXPLAIN THIS: I have not seen the film, I do not know the plot. Looking at this video, I had the feeling that the boy would love to kill the guy dancing with him, thus revenging for something and becoming an adult! Mikhalkov is just great , I think.

One of the best scenes in the movie- when all hate is paused and the knife turns into a dancing prop.

A remarkable movie indeed.

A remarkably acknowledged and appreciated movie,I agree.Unlike with 'when all hate is paused' since we learn later in the movie that the boy's family was massacred by the handsome leader who dances in this scene (the knife, remember?). Also, from the jury who is himself originally from Caucasian region, we learn that knife is an irreplaceable part of the region's culture and thus Lezginka being a dance traditionally manifesting masculinity, employs knife to underline the celebrated warrior image
