Horse Care & Buying Tips : How to Trailer a Horse Safely

God info, but I would like a horse there in the video to show how to load it. Because well this week I am getting my first horse and I saw some videos and great info on this thx!

You never want to close the door QUICKLY behind a horse. It may spook the horse which is extremely dangerous in such a small space. Also I do not agree with the hay up front. You are bribing the horse to get what. Bad idea! You want the horse to do what you tell it to do because it respects you not because it will get food. Also many horses get excited in the trailer. Food will upset their stomach and they can a colic. Also your boots should never be so loose that they turn around.

ok, but what if your horse WILL NOT by any means go near a trailer and you have a show in 24 hours?

Then you skip the show and spend the time getting the horse used to the trailer.

you should have worked with your horse before hand on proper ground work before going to a trailer

@horsefan48 If your horse has never been trailered before then thats to bad. You're going to have to skip the show. It will take a week or more to train a horse to trailor. Lunge the horse in an areana a little bit away from the trailer. Lunge the horse closer and closer to the trailer. Lunge your horse near the trailor. When they stop to investigate it let the horse. when they are done work them again. So that the horse learns that the only time it gets to rest is near the trailer. Works!

hmm. good information but she kindof talks like she's memorized the lines, and pauses in the middle of sentences like she forgets what she's supposed to say... kind of awkward to watch. good info though
