Heh. Command mode works great when the AI jams up. Usually if you step into an AI's "personal space" they'll step back and let you through, but if they don't, just hold down E on them and then have them sit in a chair or something. I regularly leave my companions at the city gates though as they are rarely needed in the towns.

Just tell Lydia to move or move a distance and let her follow should she get in the way again. I had this happen to me alot of times. She or other followers block doors and refuse to move. It is stupid how the ai would not know to move but hey just force her with a shout if she really does not want to move XD.

@adams3210 Very good question: According to strategy guide, if your horse dies, in almost all cases, an identical horse will be available for purchase again at the same stable where you purchased it. :)

Besides: You can give your comrads commands. Didn't you know? You can even send them to treasures and loot the whole box. You can send them ahead of you etc etc. You get a sort of context menu at your cursor, telling you what you then can do by pressing "E". Check your controls.

walk back a bit until they start following you

use the "I want you to.." option

run into them and hope it makes them stagger
