  • "Maiden, Worrier, Mother, Crone,

Help us keep this land our own

    Rover, Guardian, Hunter, Guide,

    With us now forever ride!"

Should be "Maiden, Warrior, Mother, Crone", and

"Hawk and Cat, and Wolf and Deer,

Keep the Plains now save from fear,

    Brothers, sisters, side by side,

To defend our home, we ride!"

should be "Keep the Plains now safe from fear".

  • Very nice, I agree with the whole " Feared by the Romans" part.

  • amazing where do you get the books and what are they called?? i love this song

  • @PaganWitchGirl The books are available at pretty much any major book outlet. I could keep rattling off titles until I'm blue in the face. Where to start? Oh, Geez. Probably the most intense is The Last Herald Mage trilogy, centering around Vanyel. It's one of the more riveting, too. Or you have the Arrows Trilogy centering around Talia. That one's good too. Just Google Valdemar & Mercedes Lackey, or her name and one of those sub-series titles.

  • I am instantly hooked. This is my new battle song, I will use this for circle!

  • I always loved this song and Larry Warner's voice was great for it. I need to hunt up my old CDs of the Valdemar series and start listening and rereading the books.

  • Good job! I'm also a fan ^_^

  • I love the song, always have, but the video could use a little more work/knowlage. Rover Guardian Hunter Guide should be male, as their the little known male aspects to the Star Eyed Goddess of the Shin'a'in.

  • @Hellfiresfury Actually, no they are not. They are aspects of the male god who is star eyed's mate and consort.

    Spoiler:

It's 99% certain that it is in actuality Vkandis, since we know that the karsites at one point long ago also respected the Cult of Moon goddess Kalenal - or in kaeld'a'in fashion Kal'enel - as the spouse and consort of Vkandis Sunlord.

  • where did you get the pics? especially the crone and the hunter? the hunter is a female anbu uchiha- no such pic in the series

  • @WailingHowl actually thats Itachi in his anbu days.

  • @chainedsoul19 oh, wow. it looks like a chick

  • @WailingHowl if you look up pics for itachi that one is there :) i agree he did look more feminine b4 leaving hidden leaf but thats itachi alright.

  • @chainedsoul19 yeah, no kidding

  • @WailingHowl sarcasm is a bitch aint it?

  • You know, if you think about it, it does have a neopagan ring to it... 'Maiden, warrior, mother, crone...' Blodeuwedd, Morrighan, Arianrhod, Cerridwin...

Just thought I'd throw it out there :)

  • lol the picture for crone is a character from black lagoon.

  • Deer.

  • I love this song

  • Gentle criticism on the video, it is one of the first God/Goddess songs to equally address both. Your video almost exclusively uses images of strong feminine characters. I don't think this was intentional, but just something to think on for the next one. :D Other then that, it was a great first attempt!

  • Like the song just wish it was more rockish like add guitar and drums

  • @asqwzxe I heard drums. Maybe u r deaf. Wait no maybe u didnt pay attention. I did hear guitar but it isnt electric is that what u mean?

  • @WarriorHawkSpirit i heard it did you mis the part where i said ADD

  • @asqwzxe Sorry! I did i guess. G`bye for now!

  • Love the song, and that you posted the lyrics. The pics you used are a bit "ehhh" compared to the stories, using a bunch of anime. Next vid could you use more of the fantasy art?

  • I love this song.

    I am a LARPer.

And as a played my charakter,i remember this Song

    That was a great moment

  • What is that? Is that a deer?!

    Oh these knives man.

  • Well, for me this doesn't sound like a warsong at all, but still is nice.

  • Powerful song. The pictures do it justice.

  • well this is shian'an warsong by mercedes lackey the book is The vows and Honor series of tarma and Kethrey...

  • P.S.S From which anime is the picture of the "maiden"

  • P.S. Tell me where can i download this song. I got HUNG UP on it

  • Haha, This song actually got me pumped to run! Especially the wolf pack part WOOO! I'm going for a run now. O.o

  • where can I get these songs??????

  • oh wow.. thanks for this. I love it!

  • magnificent job, i've got goosebumps!

  • Omg, I just found these songs....amazing. This is by far my fave series. My mom started reading these to me when I was like 4! The Sshin'a'in where always my fav. ML is an amazing person, can write music and books wtf?

  • @Cjaz84 What is the name of the book, i would like to read it.

  • @DarkDawnDragon It's not actually a book, it's a series of books in which the Shin'a'in people often appear. It's set in the world of 'Velgarth' and they're written by Mercedes Lackey. I reccomend reading Oathblood, Oathbound, and Oathbreakers first.

  • @lyman6 kay but can you give me the list of the book series or just the name of the series please. That would be great.

  • @DarkDawnDragon Having trouble posting my response here for some reason. I'll post to your channel.

  • Where the heck did you get tgis tracK??? I've been looking for it since I discovered Mercedes Lackey!

  • @Ironsouled

I apologise if I offended you. The comment was meant to help. And thank you for pointing out my spelling error.

  • @NighthunterTheXIII

Had it been just you, I wouldn't have minded... but you'll find about six in your vein. I admit to being (more than usually) pettish that day, and for that I too apologize. As it wasn't flaming, I had no right to turn on the gas myself.

  • @Ironsouled

    Hey no problem. It happens.

  • What a battle song! Great for writing to as well!

One battle scene, coming right up! :D

  • Isn't it maided WARRIOR instead of worrier?

  • Comment removed

  • @NighthunterTheXIII

Again, and I seem to have to reiterate myself far too much, Do Not point out the speck of dust in your brother's eye and fail to see the plank in your Own. Maided? At least spell check yourself before criticizing someone else. It has also been addressed already, and if you hadn't been hiding behind the door when the brains were passed out, you would have read the 7 or 8 comments that appertain.

    end Point: Flame elsewhere, please.

  • I've read the Valdemar series several times and you did a wonderful job capturing the events of the stories in this particular video. Thanks for posting this

  • What Cd is this song on or where can I buy the download

  • What CD is this on or where can I download this from

  • Awesome song. All of Lackey's songs are awesome

@axlmadonna, VAN-yull is the american way of pronouncing it and von-YELL is the european way. It's like in the movie the jungle book: MOW-glee in the movie, but because the author was british, it should have been pronounced MOE-glee

  • This song is awsome, and i do love the pics that go with it :D

  • This is a beautiful and well done video for this song..You have already address teh only issue I have with the video. Other than that it is incredibly beautiful and I love the song .

  • I really hate animae... but I love this song and the books

  • Very good movie! I just want to know where you got some of these pictures. I'm very into anime drawings and want to know how to find them. Again it's an excellent video!

  • Just curiouse do any of yall read heather alexander or mercedes lackey book ? the Shi'a'in are a pack of Magical Talking Wolves similar to native american people that are as to nature what companions are to the Herald Mages are to Valdemar !

  • @AcePyro26 The shin'a'in are not talking wolves. That's the Kyree. ANd the Kyree are seperate from the Shin'a'in. The Shin'a'in have their warsteeds and horses, the Tay'lendras have the Bondbirds, Karse has Firecats and Valdemar has the Companions.

  • @gryphonkeen the Shin'a'in warsteeds and horses were one and the same, all there horses were tought for war

  • @ozzone08 No. The warsteeds were only ever used by the Shin'a'in themselves, but they also breed Saddlehorses that were often sold to 'outlanders.' They never sold the battlemares and the studs never left the Dorsha Plains. But they did have the saddle mounts.

  • I love this! I had no idea that there these songs existed! I always just tried to imagine what they sounded like. I was looking for Mercedes Lackey interviews, and stumbled upon this. Thanks, so much Ravenloft!!

By the way, why does Heather Alexander pronounce Vanyel's name "von-YELL", rather than "VAN-yull"? It sounds dorky that way. And Vanyel is anything but dorky.

  • @axlmadonna Because only Americans pronounce it von-YELL, and the characters aren't American. :p

  • @metabog Interesting theory, but I'm American and I always pronounced it VAN-yull. I mean, they were always calling him "Van"... does she think they were calling him "Von"?? :)

  • why itachi 4 warrior? he's a ninja, right?

  • I love the harmonies in the chorus!

  • This was great. I am a great fan of Mercedes Books and Music. I am very glad to know that I am not alone. I give my compliments on the video, especially good considering that it was your first, and look forward to seeing more.

  • Rover, Guardian, Hunter, Guide may have in the song been directed at males but who is to say then a woman could not do the job, maybe even do it better (Little note I'm a guy)

  • @Empolion102 Seeing as how they're singing to their Goddess (their only deity), it's highly unlikely they would be meaning a male. =)

  • Shi'a'in Warsong can't stop listeni'n to this song im hooked on it

  • great song:)

  • The videos images are also wonderful.

  • A wonderful song. What CD is it on?

  • Wow. I had no idea people would be so receptive to this. I will work on more videos. I have most of the Vows and Honor songs, and yes I know the rover, warrior, tyc is the male aspect. However those were the pics I had on hand, *grins.* Thanks for the comments makes me want to do more.

  • PS as for my spelling. They are typos, welcome to the wonderful world of the internet. I tend not to screen my work with spell check. Sue me Ill give you a cookie.

  • Edit I meant the rover guardian not warrior..thank you.

  • @Ravenloft7189 one thing i think you did wrong was not doing the full lyrics in the description of the song. otherwise you you get a 10/10

  • being 3/4 welsh here... there's alot of kindred spirit. Even though they were hunters of the plains and riders, while my people used the longbow and the forest... and really big, thick nasty swords, the independence of all of our peoples call to a spirit like the Shin'a'in. Sure, put most of us on the back of a horse for a whie and we'd be dead of leg cramps the next day, however the heard of all those who listen to this remains unchanged.

P.S.: Whats wrong with being a barbarian?

  • @Ravenloft7189 Oh boy, it'd be lovely to hear more from Vows and Honor. :D

  • it reminds me of the nation of Sarmatia, one of the last surviveing horse cultures in europe. every man woman and child was under arms at all times, and if invaded ever every man woman and child of every clan and tribe would ride out and destroy the enemy utterly. (the roman empire hated them, because the testiudo or tortoise didnt work because they would rain arrows on them while chargeing sling there bows and ride thrue themand cut them too pieces with spear and sword):) some history :)

  • @blaclw93wi3

Achievement Unlocked: Feared by the Romans

  • @blaclw93wi3 bro, the testudo protected their heads, that was the entire point. the only problem was that it could be flanked. and that is why the romans hated cavalry.

  • I enjoyed this very much.

  • is it sad that this makes me think of a NE Druid or a Tuaren Shaman?

  • @stardrow Not sad in and of itself, but a sad statement on human nature? Yes.

  • More like an antem for all the races of Kalimdor :)

  • I feel the same way, myself...

The Shin'a'in are VERY similar to the Tauren, at least when the Tauren were still rovers, before they built Thunder Bluff.

  • Hey, do you have 'suffer the children'? I believe it's on the same CD, and I'd really love to hear it. I haven't been able to find it anywhere, and I'm too broke to buy the CD's at the moment.

Yeah, I was going to point out that the Rover, Guardian, Hunter, Guide was male, but it seems I'm too late! xD

  • Suffer the children is on the Oathbreakers album

  • @PrincessArali If you are still looking for Suffer the Children i should be putting it up in a few days i already have the video made i just have to get it uploaded to youtube

  • We get it. Spelling isn't Ravens strong point. Please do not point out speck of dust in your brothers' eye and fail to see the plank in your own. Supposed? or was the suppose intentional and I skipped too much lit back in HS.

  • @Ironsouled ...Wow I forgot I reviewed this...Um I know this was over a year ago, but I hate to being misunderstood...I hadn't thought it was a spelling error, I thought that Raven had ment to type worrier because that's how it sounded in the song, and actually had to look it up. And no, I can't spell. I have holes in my education you could drive a semi through, autism, and dislexia.

  • Lovely video, although you have female pics for Rover, Guardian, Hunter, and Guide, which is the four-in-one male diety consort to the Starry-Eyed-One. It mentions this in Oathbreakers in the appendix with the songs. Of course, that's the *only* place it is mentioned, so many overlook it.

    Still a wonderful vid, though.

  • It's from the album "Oathbound - Vows and Honor" by Firebird Music. There are many more songs dealing with the Shin'a'in on the CD. Buy it and have fun listening!

  • Thank you :) I just ordered two of her other albums there, but I probably will end up buying this also!

  • I always wondered how this song went...

  • Do you know what album the song come from?

  • Comment removed

  • I really love what picture you chose for the song but I want to point out that the Rover Guardian,Hunter, and Guide are the male aspect of the Godess

  • Hurrah for the Tayledras!!

  • erm... Shin'a"in right here, relatd by the Kaled'a'in ancestry teh both share. Shin'a'in see the Goddess as aspects, where as the Tayledras see her as one Lady, interconnected to evrything. Even the Arcane, which the Shin'a'in shunned, causing the Sundering.

If yuo were wondering, Oh yes haved I read my lackey
