Wow. This brings back sad sad memories. Ha. But yeah, totally Vickers' fault, HOWEVER, Dale should have been more careful coming back up the race track, that was obvious retaliation, but Junior should have waited and punched him in the nut sack after the race.
@robmerrill888 how can you say it's Vickers' fault and then come right out and say it was retaliation by Junior in the same post? I swear... you Junior fans, it gets ridiculous. No excuse for wrecking him in front of the field.
I respect both Vickers and Jr. more than 98% of the drivers in Cup today. That was a racing accident. Essentially that was the same thing that happened in the Fall 2006 Talladega race when Vickers hooked Johnson. If Jr. intentionally caused this wreck, Vickers intentionally caused that wreck. You can't have it both ways. Hypocrites!
Luckily everyone went down to the grass quickly, or that would have been 20 cars involved. Although there weren't any huge hits in that one, unlike in the other plate races...
Still kinda makes me mad watching this again 4 months later... to have LAPPED cars cause such a huge wreck and ruin the days of countless contenders... just wrong.
The start of the crash from 3:29-3:32 reminded me of the Big One from the 2002 Pepsi 400 at Daytona. With 26 laps to go, entering Turn 1, Jeff Burton (#99) was attemptin to pass Dale Jarrett (#88). Now look at the start of that crash: Just like this, Burton was trying to pass DJ on the apron, DJ blocked him, spun & started the "Big One", which collected 14 cars. Strange, don't ya think!

vickers was on the lead lap, not going for the lucky dog, thats why he shouldnt have blocked, but jr yeah did get too impatient and came right back up, but vickers didnt need to block someone a lap down
Vickers had no business blocking like that,....but Jr. definitely could of used better judgement and backed off instead of just turning into Vickers. The irony of it all is that neither of them were even in the lucky dog postion,Robby Gordon was.
Thats what you get Vickers you shouldnt have put a block on a frustrated lapped driver dummy

proof that Junior needs to go to a different series because he cant race worth a damn, especially with a team as powerful as Hendrick

Earnhardt, Jr. was. that's what makes me mad... why should Vickers care if Jr. passes him, it's not even for position!
scottmhoward 2 years ago
Vickers was a lap down, they were racing for the free pass position.
AndyMarquisLIVE 2 years ago 10
yes he was, he and jr were battling for the free pass, when they caused the huge wreck
Tishad100 2 years ago
I ain't a Brian Vickers fan by any means but that was Junyer's fault.

Funny that they were racing for the lucky dog.. proof they both suck
kcfire4 3 years ago
the reason vickers was on the tail end of the lead lap was cuz he pitted under green just before the caution came out so he was just unlucky

The reason for Dale turning back onto the racetrack into Brian Vickers was to get back into line and not to wreck him.
gordonfan190 3 years ago 2
Jr did it totally on purpose, as if Jr never block the other drivers on this kind of races.. Like DW said.. THAS WAS WRONG!!!
