I never thought I'd like Metal further then Mettallica. But Dream theater With Portnoy, Pattrucci, and Rudess. ( can't remember the bassists name) Their pretty much one of the best bands around today. To me, their a harder version of Rush.. I love both bands for different reasons. Metal is hard for me to get into. I loved regular classic rock, and some of the Dave Mathews, and John Mayer, Counting crows, Susan Tedeschi, Little feat, all great music. Metal is pretty new for me.
