Everyone in Nottingham thinks the film is crap. Costners version with Hadrians Wall and Cockney accents had us all in stitches, but the Omaha beach scenes in this version are side splitting! The actors all deserve Oscars simply for keeping straight faces. Why do directors always turn Robin Hood movies into comedies?

I just bought the DVD and I've already watched it twice. LOVE! I love how its not all "rob the rich to give to the poor" but more of a "freedom from tyranny" story. Russell Crowe may be a bit old for Robin Hood, but I thought he did a fabulous job with it. Sexy as ever. I really hope they do a sequel...$300 million plus worldwide, I think a sequel is feasible. Cate Blanchett is wonderful as well. It puts a unique spin on the story combining the different legends of Robin Hood.

This film is...I can't say that its bad,but its not what I've expected.I expected a lot more from R.Scot,I'm both his and Russell's fan but,obviously,Gladiator is FAR better movie,though I wasnt watching Robin Hood in right circumstances,but still.....Gladiator is my favourite movie,and its just always in my heart ,and follows u up through the life,all those mighty sentences and so on...

wasnt expectin much lookin at the the trailer....but my girlfriend dragged me 2 the cinema....starts off bit boring but once the story gets goin it enjoyable medieval action...lots of guys screamin...runnin about and stuff....it didnt blow me away like gladiator but it entertained me.....didnt feel ripped off comin out of the cinema......7 out of 10

I saw this the other day and loved it. I wasn't sure what to expect from reviews but it was great. Lots of action, romance and held reasonably close to history bearing in mind Robin Hood was legend.

King John ruled in the 12th and 13th century, roughly between 1199 until his death, so this is the time period the movie takes place. Not the 10th century as you incorrectly stated. The English navy located in Portsmouth at the time would have had a large fleet of ships which would have included some sea to land vessels like the one in the preview.

Keep in mind that this is a "prequel" to the Robin Hood that we all know. I read an interview with Ridley Scott and he said that in the last ten minutes of the film we see the true Robin Hood. It's also left opened for a sequel.
