The 3 series died for me with e36. They do look like a toyota. Now they definitely had that style first, but BMWs used to be styled in such a way that Toyota wouldn't have the balls to copy it.
Comparing the interior to a camry or corolla... Very not true. My best friend has a camry and the interior is crap compared to a 328i. Plus you are driving a 328i, which is the base model of the 3 series in America. My dad also delivers to the place who make the wood grain. It's real wood, they just put a material over the top so you don't damage it. Also, you may have your opinion on the engine sound, but a lot of people say the 3 series I6 is one of the best sounds you can get, and i agree.

The 5 was hit by the Chris Bangle ugly stick and the 3 just became a generic looking car. Lastly, BMW are seen more often then Audis not because of looks but because of reputation and because it used to be them or Mercedes. However, that reputation is eroding as Audi has been really ramping things up in the last 10 years.

lol it sounds bad?!?!? Its a inline 6 for God's sake they sound amazing, and lets not forget the vanos kicking in. My dad has this car and its wonderful i love getting into it whenever i can. However at the end of the day I prefer my a4, yea its less power and dosen't handle as nice. But its got more character, fit/finish is better, and it in my eyes looks better...
@suprakilzz26 How are those for reliability now? Nobody I know drives one, but my mom had a 78 and a 79 Audi Fox, and both were horrible. The first had a hundred little things go wrong with it, and the second leaked oil from some important expensive-to-service gasket.

Unfortunatley I paid the price by buying at 3rd party rather than CPO and my car had lots of issues. Since i bought it i did (cams, timing, and brake work) Then 12k after i had it my motor went due to bad work at time of cams. So i got a new motor, then my turbo went 2k later. I've had a extremely bad run, but i look back and its not the cars fault

Just got the 2008 328i Sport package and the car is a beast, i love it! What you have in the video is Leatherate(Base) model which has the slower gas pedal response and slight body roll in the corners....Get the sport package on this vehicle and then talk about its performance!

I live in L.A. and I should know since I'm Asian and my Asian friends' parents would most likely approach a dealership that got Asian dealers on the lot, and of course they are mostly Japanese car dealerships. They simply think Japanese cars are the only reliable cars out there. For me, I prefer to drive Bimmers and Porsches :P
I love it, they speak with such honesty and straight forwardness. Ignore the comments about it not being like "top gear," this is the type of review you'd want to watch when considering a purchase that you'll be paying for the next 3 to 5 years. I think more people would've watched Top Gear U.S. if it had more presentations like this.
The HONESTY these guys spit out from their mouths is so refreshing! BMW interior quality is garbage, so many things fall apart. how do I know? I work at a professional automotive detail shop. Things will fade away, and fall apart. Buttons are clipped in. Horrible, I am impressed with Lexus, new Cadillacs and Infinity's.

The 3 Series isn't meant to be the ultimate driving machine, you get an M3 for that. The engine note not sounding nice? I don't even get that, it's no Ferrari but the noise isn't as bad as the guy makes it sound. Not a bad review though.

With every positive comment there is a negative one...yet you fickled auto critics will hype it up....its no better than a corola or a camry. Its an over priced machine.
Now I know why one should never believe in such reviews, and should myself get a feel of the car. After driving a BMW for one year, I personally have a completely opposite opinion on nearly every aspect they talked about. The accelerator pedal is my most favorite thing on the BMW, along with the front styling. They say it looks like a Corolla? ... lol

Handlles great, very quiet, smooth, fast, reliable, precise, revs all day long, sporty, won't bite you, nice interior environment, wonderful materials used best seats in the business, great fit and finish, nice, nice, nice, love the car, wins comparison test after comparison test after comparison test, the bench mark, a great car, one of the best cars for resale value in the world. All of those were lifted from the text of this report. The negatives mentioned were trivial. I am still sold.
I remember two of my male friends many years ago discussing a beautiful woman who would not respond to their advances. This review kinda reminds me of that conversation.
I certainly can't blame you for playing the field. I stray with rentals, loaners, and buddy's cars. I have owned or leased many other luxury, sports, standard, off-road and economy cars. I guess what I like best about the 3 series is the "negative" points that were made in this review: common looks, calm everyday driving habits, and extreme overall competence.
This car is just awesome. However BMWs just like all german cars are prone to electrical problems. Thats really the only fault i can find with this car. The electrical issues that plague BMWs.
I had the 2007 BMW 328I sedan, "Been there done that", great car but it was so over rated, they are a dime a dozen, at first I got the wow factor then it quickly dimmed down. After 2 1/2 years I traded it in for the 2009 G37 sedan and Im still enthusiastic about driving it everytime I get into the car! BMW was great but In my OPINION Infiniti does it better in terms of entry class luxury. I never had the the things on my BMW from what my Infiniti G37 offers standard. Im very content.
@Johncarson9113 After driving the G37, I bought another 328i. The ride on the Infiniti felt like a truck compared to the BMW. In addition the turn radius on the Infiniti is yoo large and it's trunk too tight. In addition, the rear seating on the BMW is more comfy. And the Bimmer is just more impressive.
@amsquare You really loved the car that much you bought another BMW 3 series again? I wouldnt buy the same car if I had already driven it, I mean if you upgraded to a different series then thats a different story. But then again "To each his own". The 328i was nice while it lasted for me but there is no comparing a modern interior of the G37 to the bland 3 series unless you opt for the technology package in the BMW. Congrats though, enjoy the car...again?! =)
@Johncarson9113 I am not easily swayed by sexy interiors for some reason. My first BMW was a 2002ii many years ago. Love those small bimmers. No matter what other cars I have owned or driven, I return to them again and again. Nothing like them. (I've had the same wife for 32 years, too).

My next experiment next year is hopefully a 2011 Audi A4 sedan and if not an Infiniti crossover sometime soon, it all depends on the cash flow $,Im starting to feel the brunt of the economic storm this year. =)

@amsquare Hahaha "Geezer mobile". Yeah i can agree on that, Im not very fond of Lexus either despite still being very luxurious they lack a massive amount in the performance department for me. And yes I guess the 3 series even though it is a repetitive safe looking design every generation it still manages to look handsome despite the cons that draws me away from it. Never really looked into Subaru and Mercury but everyone one has there own taste.
@Johncarson9113 The Subie goes anywhere in any type of weather, and with the Turbo engine and Limited trim, gets me there quickly and in relative comfort. The Milan hybrid is upscale enough for my wife, handles kinda like a German sedan, and gets her 42 MPG. Along with the 328i, they make a nice package for a three car garage.
@amsquare Yeah I can see that, I have heard many people say Subaru is a very good car but its not a kind of car I would like to own, as for Mercury despite having low sales its very unfortunate they will discontinue the Manufacturer by the beggining of next year. Mercury and Hummer will no longer exist in 2011 or at least they will have stopped production. That gives many people the opportunity to buy a new car at bargain prices.
Hi there all. Have an E46 328 on a T plate ( thats 1999 to our friends over the water ) and have loved every minute of ownership. Okay only 196 hp but I find that ample, handling is exemplary and I get 40.1 mpg in the summer months driving steady, but have to admit to taking traction control off now and then and going back to my B class rally days too !!

@yumyumluckycharms That's because those Asians feel more comfortable dealing with an Asian dealer, and I mean the person selling the car. I live in L.A. and I should know since I'm Asian and my Asian friends' parents would most likely approach a dealership that got Asian dealers on the lot, and of course they are mostly Japanese car dealerships. They simply think Japanese cars are the only reliable cars out there. For me, I prefer to drive Bimmers and Porsches :P

I love it, they speak with such honesty and straight forwardness. Ignore the comments about it not being like "top gear," this is the type of review you'd want to watch when considering a purchase that you'll be paying for the next 3 to 5 years. I think more people would've watched Top Gear U.S. if it had more presentations like this.

The HONESTY these guys spit out from their mouths is so refreshing! All the weenie fanboys with their broomstick arms and legs are having fits because they have been told to pray to the BMW gods every night before bedtime.....and these guys are saying..."hey....really nice car, but NOT godlike." The Cadillac CTS is a much better all-around car than this 328i as well....not just the Altima. Suck it, fanboys...

BMW interior quality is garbage, so many things fall apart. how do I know? I work at a professional automotive detail shop. Things will fade away, and fall apart. Buttons are clipped in. Horrible, I am impressed with Lexus, new Cadillacs and Infinity's.

The 3 Series isn't meant to be the ultimate driving machine, you get an M3 for that. The engine note not sounding nice? I don't even get that, it's no Ferrari but the noise isn't as bad as the guy makes it sound. Not a bad review though.

Now I know why one should never believe in such reviews, and should myself get a feel of the car. After driving a BMW for one year, I personally have a completely opposite opinion on nearly every aspect they talked about. The accelerator pedal is my most favorite thing on the BMW, along with the front styling. They say it looks like a Corolla? ... lol

Handlles great, very quiet, smooth, fast, reliable, precise, revs all day long, sporty, won't bite you, nice interior environment, wonderful materials used best seats in the business, great fit and finish, nice, nice, nice, love the car, wins comparison test after comparison test after comparison test, the bench mark, a great car, one of the best cars for resale value in the world. All of those were lifted from the text of this report. The negatives mentioned were trivial. I am still sold.

I certainly can't blame you for playing the field. I stray with rentals, loaners, and buddy's cars. I have owned or leased many other luxury, sports, standard, off-road and economy cars. I guess what I like best about the 3 series is the "negative" points that were made in this review: common looks, calm everyday driving habits, and extreme overall competence.

This car is just awesome. However BMWs just like all german cars are prone to electrical problems. Thats really the only fault i can find with this car. The electrical issues that plague BMWs.

I had the 2007 BMW 328I sedan, "Been there done that", great car but it was so over rated, they are a dime a dozen, at first I got the wow factor then it quickly dimmed down. After 2 1/2 years I traded it in for the 2009 G37 sedan and Im still enthusiastic about driving it everytime I get into the car! BMW was great but In my OPINION Infiniti does it better in terms of entry class luxury. I never had the the things on my BMW from what my Infiniti G37 offers standard. Im very content.

@Johncarson9113 After driving the G37, I bought another 328i. The ride on the Infiniti felt like a truck compared to the BMW. In addition the turn radius on the Infiniti is yoo large and it's trunk too tight. In addition, the rear seating on the BMW is more comfy. And the Bimmer is just more impressive.

@amsquare You really loved the car that much you bought another BMW 3 series again? I wouldnt buy the same car if I had already driven it, I mean if you upgraded to a different series then thats a different story. But then again "To each his own". The 328i was nice while it lasted for me but there is no comparing a modern interior of the G37 to the bland 3 series unless you opt for the technology package in the BMW. Congrats though, enjoy the car...again?! =)

@Johncarson9113 I am not easily swayed by sexy interiors for some reason. My first BMW was a 2002ii many years ago. Love those small bimmers. No matter what other cars I have owned or driven, I return to them again and again. Nothing like them. (I've had the same wife for 32 years, too).

My next experiment next year is hopefully a 2011 Audi A4 sedan and if not an Infiniti crossover sometime soon, it all depends on the cash flow $,Im starting to feel the brunt of the economic storm this year. =)

@Johncarson9113 The older I get, the more the 3 series appeals to me. Automotive death for me is settling for a large, soft, floaty Lexus Geezer-mobile. (My other love is an '09 Subie Forester XT; my wife has a Mercury Milan Hybrid which she LOVES.)

@amsquare Hahaha "Geezer mobile". Yeah i can agree on that, Im not very fond of Lexus either despite still being very luxurious they lack a massive amount in the performance department for me. And yes I guess the 3 series even though it is a repetitive safe looking design every generation it still manages to look handsome despite the cons that draws me away from it. Never really looked into Subaru and Mercury but everyone one has there own taste.

@Johncarson9113 The Subie goes anywhere in any type of weather, and with the Turbo engine and Limited trim, gets me there quickly and in relative comfort. The Milan hybrid is upscale enough for my wife, handles kinda like a German sedan, and gets her 42 MPG. Along with the 328i, they make a nice package for a three car garage.

@amsquare Yeah I can see that, I have heard many people say Subaru is a very good car but its not a kind of car I would like to own, as for Mercury despite having low sales its very unfortunate they will discontinue the Manufacturer by the beggining of next year. Mercury and Hummer will no longer exist in 2011 or at least they will have stopped production. That gives many people the opportunity to buy a new car at bargain prices.

Hi there all. Have an E46 328 on a T plate ( thats 1999 to our friends over the water ) and have loved every minute of ownership. Okay only 196 hp but I find that ample, handling is exemplary and I get 40.1 mpg in the summer months driving steady, but have to admit to taking traction control off now and then and going back to my B class rally days too !!

The 3 series died for me with e36. They do look like a toyota. Now they definitely had that style first, but BMWs used to be styled in such a way that Toyota wouldn't have the balls to copy it.

Comparing the interior to a camry or corolla... Very not true. My best friend has a camry and the interior is crap compared to a 328i. Plus you are driving a 328i, which is the base model of the 3 series in America. My dad also delivers to the place who make the wood grain. It's real wood, they just put a material over the top so you don't damage it. Also, you may have your opinion on the engine sound, but a lot of people say the 3 series I6 is one of the best sounds you can get, and i agree.

@richie2nice No, personally Audi takes the crown when it comes to how their sedans look. BMW's haven't had a consistent look since the E39 5 series and the E46 3 series. The 5 was hit by the Chris Bangle ugly stick and the 3 just became a generic looking car. Lastly, BMW are seen more often then Audis not because of looks but because of reputation and because it used to be them or Mercedes. However, that reputation is eroding as Audi has been really ramping things up in the last 10 years.

I understand that if it wasn't for its reputation as mentioned, then I probably wouldn't be all over Audi. In conclusion, the reason I chose one is the exclusivity factor. As the video points out, bimmers are everywhere. Friends and family of mine have them. For that and a few other things, I chose to an Audi.
