  • 3 dislikes can go in front of buss

  • its still a brilliant song amazing

  • the "Hag" and a handful of others set the standard and let's face it, nowadays for the most part, it's just too high. It's the same with the rock world

  • @prober45 dance world is doing fine =D =D

  • Leann Rimes does an excellent cover of this song. :P

  • I'm a 24 year old man. I used to listen to this song every saturday with my Dad on the way to meet up with my Grandpa (RIP) every saturday for breakfast before we'd bust ass working on a house we were flipping. My dad wasn't a drunk at the time, and I was only 10, and at the time, I didn't really truly understand the song. Broke up with the love of my life recently, turned to alcohol, and now... Now I really understand what Merle Haggard was talking about. Funny how shit works.

  • James Burton on Lead Guitar, what a sound.

  • This was a huge hit for Merle! One of my all-time favorite songs.

  • I heard another version of this today, and ya know I liked this one better

  • bbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbb

  • Thanks Captain from the Maine 20th Regiment!!

  • just because youre young doesnt mean that youre a little punk that cant enjoy real music. ive been listening to this as long as i care to remember and i wouldnt have it any other way.

  • crazy song

  • merles verson is good but waylon owns this one

  • @bigdan190 nah

  • @bigdan190 This is MERLE'S song!! HE wrote it and made it a hit. I 've never even heard Waylon do this.. LMAO!

  • @bigdan190 merles version was first.

  • I love this song!

  • MERLE is a very good man

  • I have lived the Highway man's life for too many years now .

I remember when Waylon and Willy was the way to live .

We need new acts that can share how most folks feel .

The old boys and girls are leaving us daily .

Don't real feelings even happen today ?

Heck most of these songs got many GIs thru the Nam and recent Wars .

I don't think heartbreak is over . It happens daily .

    Just my opium .

  • @Hounddog39440 I AGREE WITH YOU!

  • I've felt Haggard from time to time !

  • I love merle and everything he sings,I agree they have gotten rid of good country music, now it's just screaming,I hate most of it.

  • @faye28100 What the fuck? There is a bunch of country stations down here that play real country music down here in Oklahoma.

  • @Austinbatiger what??? I didn't comment,if there was one I didn't do it I love Merle Haggard,I have a lot of his music

  • @Austinbatiger OKLAHOMA i love oklahoma

  • we still have it here in our dance halls down in Texas.

  • The Best Ever !!! From Vicki in New Zealand xxx

  • Wonderful to hear these again... Thanks...

  • is it me or is this still an xcellent song? lol

  • @rickiedd2020

It's not just you. The great ones will always be Great

  • @rickiedd2020 yes it certainly is

  • @rickiedd2020 you are right it is excellent first class four star good song

  • Well I am so lucky because I have many tapes of my brother who played lead back in the early 60's for Merle! I have some practice tapes that I treasure!! My brother is in heaven now but sure havin one heck of jam session up there I bet!!

  • I couldn't agree with you more about today's country music. As George Strait and Alan Jackson (a couple of the only true country music artist left on the airways) sing, "They committed murder on music row." I miss hearing the Hagg , so I try to keep tuned into classic country whenever possible and once in a while I get to hear some of my favorites.

  • the HAG kicks ass

  • know days people don,t know real musie is these day this is the real shit in always will be

  • God i wish real music like this was still being played. Now Taylor Swift and Rascal flats rule the air waves. Its a sad sad thing

  • @MrChosen88 a-fuckin men brother

  • @MrChosen88 come to texas we are putin the honkey back in tonk

  • @MrChosen88 Surley you dont expect Taylor Swift singing about bottles? After all her music is marketed for young population. I would say her general audience is maximum 16 years old. But then again i could be wrong but thats my impresion.

  • @MrChosen88 Sure is mate....Rascal Flats are a disgrace to country music.

  • @MrChosen88 funny part about it is that when this crowd grows old , and there grands... listening to there music . they going to same the same shit you posted. lol!

  • @MrChosen88 I grew up listening to all the oldies, this is what my parents raised me on. Johnny, Conway, Merle, Hank SR & JR..my girls who are 9 & 5 are now growing up with it and they love it. We do enjoy some of the "new" music but it don't hold a candle to any of the greats!

  • @MrChosen88 who ! just kidding!

  • @MrChosen88 whats wrong with rascal flats? they arent nearly as good as old merle here but they have their songs...gotta appreciate some of the other country artists! :)

  • man..all music sux today..rock.rap and country..what happened?

  • @trm476 I'm with you . What happened to real music ?

  • i swear this age of country is the grandfather of what we hear to day and i love it too bad the radio dont play it

  • i caint get that bitch of a mother who gave birth to me....she never their....at thing gonna burn for her sorrrow and her everyway......thank you haggard.....im not hurting ....just laughing at her .........no letters no phone call no coming over to say hey baby i love you.....to see her grandkids....want she missing on is something wonderful......

  • thanks for the original version

  • I agree. I blame Reba and Garth. Although they started with traditional country styles. Once they hit the mainstream scene; their lame attempts to whine a country tune, fell apart. All of Nashville followed suit. Country went rock, Rock went nowhere and real music got lost in the shuffle. I live in southern Colorado and none of the true country artists get any airplay. Thanks corporate Nashville. You suck. But if you want to hear some good old fashioned country listen to Hayes Carl.

  • Long summer nights and songs such as this one playing on the A.M. Radio. If you are a country boy or woman from years back, you love these songs, and singers.

  • I didn't know so many people felt the same as me about today'y country crap!!!

  • DUNLOW WEST VIRGINIA:!:!:!:!

  • Jones... like Jennings, Kristofferson, Cash, Nelson and a few more... has a great masculine voices with lots of individual character.... contrary to the sissy voices of most of the younger generation.

  • @brandulph You said it all, sir!!!!

  • Hardcore death metal right thar.

  • Merle needs to burn one...works every time!

  • @mikeyramone74 Never read any of his interviews I take it? xD

  • tonight the bottle propped me up.

    I love Merle

  • I was grew up around old country music and i have known this song all my life. I have just recently went through a divorce and since then I have come to love this song EVEN MORE. " Tonight the bottle let me down"

  • This is the only stuff that I miss about my drinking days. Getting togethere with some friends sitting around the kitchen table, drinking bud and cranking Merle on the stereo. Unfortunately we would then wake up the next morning, feelin like shit and in trouble with the wifes.

  • @jehjeh37111

    That's your problem, "wifes"

  • dam i just quit drinkin.... why did i do that ?

  • Not even George Jones can top this!!! Waylon comes close to = Thats how i hear it. Jeon Leon

  • @namnoiz Your comments?????? Love Merle but nobody sings a song better than GEORGE or WAYLON, the only other singers ever to be up there with them is of course the legendary HANK and the the unbeatable KEITH WHITLEY. I think of them as not the four muskateers but the "FOUR MUSICATEERS"!!!!!

  • @ThePurecountrygal Dont want to argue about whos better, I think they are all great . I still like the notion of being able to chose my favorite artist for a particular song and saying mr X does it better than mr Y

  • @namnoiz Yeh, you got it.

  • Reminds me of being a kid, rackin up balls at the pool table in a smoky bar.

  • country has such strong lyrics

  • ...here's a sip of beer for Merle

  • No question, he is one of the greats & one of my very favorites

  • it always lets me down but dammit, im no quitter!

  • Remember this from 1968. I thought at the time it was the best kick-ass country song ever written.

  • And it's still a great song ! I still love the old ones !
