Wade Cooper recorded this song in 1960 in Detroit at Big Star Studios . The copy of the recording was heard by Al Silver, of Ember/Herald Records. This record was promoted very heavily by but simply was unable to get air play on the major stations. The payola scandal was going on and most record companies were not paying deejays to play their songs as they had been in the past. Oh Mr, Oh My, was a hit in the Southeast at places like Atlanta, Charlotte, Knoxville and Jacksonville, FL.
