I dunno if it's funny or sad to see both dbag players like this guy and the makers themselves shitting on other games. If the guy wants to play games with high execution barriers, what's stopping him? It's not like his favorite games disappeared. The fanbase for games like that has long since capped out. Developers figured out they -have- to make games more accessible if they want more money. Otherwise like they mentioned, it's just this guy and his 5 friends.
@BehindTheLight99 Probably one of the most respected FGs of the last decade, the game has died out (outside of the hardcore players) due to lack of updates and FagBlue sucking dick. GG competitive is pretty much limited to regionals now but is still more competitive than most other FGs I play (opinion) at majors, even at the limited regional level.
I lol'd at the anime fgts who can only play blazblue telling him to sit down or play another game XD.
nah but they've made enough money what with hyper marketing the easy yet good looking blazblue. It's time for them to cater to us gg vets. give us a new game.
To be honest, GG is hard as a mofo. Still, they should cater to GG fans by making another GG alongside BlazBlue. I respect the hell out of GG, even tho I can't play it to save my life. There's no reason to not do BB and GG at the same time considering the cash they have now form their recent projects.
The casuasl don´t care really how easy inputs, links etc are u just need flashy commercials and hype to sell it. Ca sual game will play it for fun mash around and move along like always. Even in the 90s casuals played like that.
I think probably half of what you wrote are valid complaints (I did mention the oki myself), the rest can probably go either way (burst system, throws being weak) or are subject to change (frames on hit/block), or were the same in GG, at the beginning at least.(dead angle, meter management... remember when there weren't FRCs or force breaks?).
My point is mostly just that making a game accessible does not ruin it. Oki does not ruin a game, bad execution of the system does.
Fighting games honestly shouldn't be as hard as guilty gear. Normal human beings cannot play that game well. The throw/block option select is really stupid, but I think that's more of a technical oversight than a poorly designed mechanic. Last I checked it isn't in CS anyway, so they already fixed the problem.
Also, I don't think Buzzsaw understands what they meant by the F1 question. If they only made F1 racers lest than 10% of people could ever be allowed to drive.
I understand exactly what they meant from the question. If the only types of cars that were made were supercars then idiots wouldn't be able to drive them without dying. I fully support this.
@buzzsaw13 No, not idiots. Practically nobody. Nobody that isn't extremely wealthy with phenomenal conditioning and skill. By expressing distaste at their turn towards a game that is more friendly to the general public you imply that it is reasonable to expect a game that only people willing to spend hours in training mode will ever enjoy. Their response is exactly right, that isn't a good design decision, it isn't a good marketing decision and it isn't good for building a community.
@Makingnewnamesisdumb I can understand broadening their audience, but they've dumbed the game down way too much. The game doesn't have to be as hard as Guilty Gear, but it dumbing down game mechanics is not the way to go.
@buzzsaw13 Then don't play obviously nothing will change since before they didn't get sell so well now they roll in money, you could always do what me and my friends do which is play the older games like 3S, CvS2 and GG rather than play BB/SSFIV and complain about it.
okizeme in blazblue is almost entirely reactionary, as guessing which way your opponent is going to tech mostly just gets you killed. on the flipside, if you're the one rolling, you can almost safely assume that you'll get out of whatever pressure your opponent sets up so long as you block.
fatal counter is dumb, in practice it mostly just lets the player that mashes their FC move get a better trade.
instant blocking is way too strong and easy. it gives +5 on the ground and +10 in the air, making jumping even stronger than it already is. plus, the game will actually buffer instant block inputs for you if you only do one (ib the first hit of any of nu's C normals and see how many you end up ib'ing).
advance input is incredibly annoying, as sometimes the overcompensation will end up making you MISS your links (try autofiring your links in sf4 if you don't get why this is).
meter management is practically nonexistent in blazblue, as most characters only use their meter for supers and rc's (hakumen and jin being the only exceptions).
jumps being so fast makes most ground mixups nothing more than a segue to air footsies, which is boring in bb since people can perfectblock all day.
double bursting in cs allows for less skilled players to make one too many mistakes and still get away with it (everyone stocks their busts for the last round in cs).
Yes, everyone is on the same level which is why you always see the same people in BB tournament finals, right?
Your argument is bs. BB is still one of the more complex fighters out there but you only see "oh it doesn't have 1 frame links and has input buffers, it's casual sh*t!". You are damn pro-gamer hipster who doesn't know anything about how competitive games work, and now is angry because people can enter his exclusive clique without spending 9000 hours in practice mode.
A+B+C option select sucks, and I'd prefer if the wakeup games were more like GG with no rolls and stuff. But then this is just the second game in the line and GG had like 5.
But advance input is a godsend. Why would anyone hate on it? Cause it makes inputting things easier?
Would you enlighten us to these other "gay ass things", because all I hear being thrown around is how "the game is dumbed down for n00bs".
massive throw break windows make throws a weak mixup option, since you can easily react to them.
throws have 7 frames of startup when jump startup is only 4, so throws are double worthless (especially since even if you predict they'll jump, your airthrow is only going to get broken anyways).
perfectblock meter takes risk out of blocking in the air, especially since it regens so quickly (unlike gg where it drains your tension meter).
You can have mash-friendly gameplay, but good players don't win vs bad players just because of execution. They win because they're better strategically.
BB just forces everyone onto the same level to cater for the damn idiots who are too lazy to put in any time and effort, and to those with no damn imagination. Now their making Daisuke go with their plan, else he's out of a job. Casual players and the idiotic companies who cater for them excessively over their loyal fans make me sick. Neither one care about each other or anything. Arc have lost it, completely.
They haven't lost it. They want money. And catering to the hardcore tourny players while telling casuals to fuck off by implementing really hard entrance barriers is a great way to put themselves into a financial grave. Where they are unable to even produce a sequel because no genral player can pick up the game and have fun.
Time has changed and the market of today demands easy entrance games or the companiy is wasting money.
Disgusting. Arksys you're disgusting. Mori you're disgusting. Complete idiotic sellouts who don't understand a thing. You have no other reason but money...so stop coming up with fake reasons to make it look like you care and like you have a point, and like money isn't the only thing on your minds. GG isn't hard...it just keeps on giving. Meaning players can climb higher and higher and thus become HARD TO BEAT; and they deserve it for the effort they put in.
Just be glad BB isn't SF4, SF4 was just dumbed down to the extreme!
BBCS isn't as noob friendly as BBCT now, especially how Noel, Jin, and Nu (the most favorite among mashing noobs) got some nerfs that goes against noobs like Noel loosing her D overhead, Jin's Ice doesn't have to be shaken to escape, and Nu's D swords nerfed so its really hard to combo multiple swords while in the ground.
You have to realize that GGAC is still popular in arcades there. Almost as much as Blazblue. They don't see a need to make a new one, because the old one is still making money and has plenty of life in it. Thus, they change their priorities to attracting people into the genre.
Better to make one awesome game and go out of business than to keep churning out some casual popamole shovelware shit aimed at the lowest common denominator.
I don't see the good in alienating your hardcore audience to attract a few idiots who might play one game then see a sequel and be like "fuck that i'm just gonna play cod" when they look at your sequel because the hardcore players weren't there to make it look fun to play. You honestly don't think this day and age even the most basic moron isn't at least typing blazblue or super street fighter 4 into youtube to see videos? You're just killing word of mouth advertising that way.
I dunno if it's funny or sad to see both dbag players like this guy and the makers themselves shitting on other games.
