If I remember right he lost to Frank Brennan. Now I didn't see the kata comp and only read about it but to beat Kagawa FB must have pulled out a beauty. Either that or there were some home town decisions.
@TheShodan2004 - I'm confident the article stated the kata both performed & maybe even the points awarded. It was either 'International Fighting Arts' or John Cheethams 'Shotokan Magazine' (both good reads) & I'm guessing from late 80's to early 90's. From memory at a place called Sunderland (sp?) in the UK. I'd reckon this Sochin is THE very kata that Kagawa did. I've been clearing out my old reading material :( but with luck I'll dig it up ;) Brennan's kata may have been Nijushi ho.
