  • I know your step dad he teacher me

  • wierd thing is, i typed go to hell in and i get my favourite Megadeth song aswell as this....judge me not, their both fucking awesome

  • like if you just typed in "go to hell" and this came up.

  • What are the piano notes from 2:53-2:58?

  • This is like watching something be printed in color on a press. Each pass adds color and depth.

  • @damiensongs missing the artistry here just a little bit? who said every song needs instant gratification?

  • Just made my day, 100% better! THX!

  • 203 people are blind and deaf.

  • @edj66 You forgot to add 'and stupid'!

  • That's exactly one of those things I do when I have a free time.

  • I love this guy. He has some serious SOUL!!!

  • I love that song. I love how the cover is waiting for him at his guitar... haha

  • A true artist !!! Excellent!!!

  • Amazing! Love this!

  • Thumbs up if you got this by googling "Go to hell".

  • @ThePizzaCow Should I thumbs down this if I didnt?

  • What's difficult about that? I can do it too...easily. Pffff

  • Bravo! :-)

  • Charming

  • Amazin.. the ''peak'' of composition skills here..you create orchestration and build the armony at once on your own..

  • @xatzidakis about as difficult as taking a shit

  • @xatzidakis its a good song i definitely like it and hes a great multi instrumentalist, but to call this the peak of compositional song writing is pretty far off. its really easy to loop like this with the right software and this is a pretty poppy song as i'm sure he meant it to be.

  • este tio es la bomba!!

  • killer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Saw him live yesterday - absolutely amazing!!

  • love it!!!!!!!!! incredible artist!!!

  • PERSPECTIVE!

  • This is MUSIC...listen

    and the lyrics..oh my

  • is there any way to get a mp3 version of this song? cuz i like it alot more than the album version

  • Awesome.....

Finally, a real musician everyone can appreciate.

Real Music, organic.... only technology is the looping ( plus mic, blah, blah ) great stuff!!!!!

  • these kind of performances became the stuff of legend on his live shows. u should check out his new EP's. he's gone down a whole new happy direction

  • Anyone know where i can download/purchase this version? Bought the album after I heard this and was a bit disapointed with the album version.

  • this is SO much better than the album version. like, this is freaking amazing

  • just incredible! I'm your big fun, David!

  • I think people are confusing ONE take; with FIRST take.

This movie IS one take.. It probably is NOT first take. THATS why its plausible that it IS ONE take....

    The joy's of English comprehension.

  • @Gergith joy's = irony

  • Look you idiots, the VIDEO was recorded in one take, this says nothing about the SONG being recorded in one take

  • 'Recorded live' you fucktard.

  • @PleskOne I've seen him do this live on stage more times than I can remember. It's him, a mic, a looping kit and lots of instruments - on this particular occasion someone is following him with a camera. The song is live when recorded. And to the people who doubt any of this - GO AND SEE HIM LIVE and watch it for youself.

  • @bigpapajosh713

Shut the fuck up and enjoy the music... sheesh. It's a goddamn figure of speech.

  • @bigpapajosh713 - you're right. heaven would have been a much better fictional place to sing about than hell!

  • I heard a two man band at Hog Heaven in New Philadelphia OH doing something similar, but nowhere near to that extent. Their version of Wild Horses was awesome !

    But this is Great stuff.

  • Great video. Only the 2nd song of his I've heard - must hear more.

  • I saw him last year when he opened for Augustana. I still get chills when I think about his performance. I need to see him again!

  • great ..great

  • AMAZING. Plus I miss Easyworld.

  • Seeing him tonight in Dublin :)

Love this track, both versions, but this version is better

  • muito bom

  • I love the video and the idea.

    Great song. :)

  • fucking awesome

  • fucking great man

  • what happens at 5:16-5:18?

  • he just put the chorus in

  • He loops all the different harmonies of him singing "go to hell"

  • Awesome!

  • A layer of "go to hell" jumped in on it's own it looks like. Look and listen near the end, it's the high pitch one. He may have sung it but I'm not sure. Either way Its still an amazing song and video.

  • @Zc: he sang it..you can see where he does...

  • actually I think you're right. I see.

  • The high pitched line is sung third in the last bit.

  • Brilliant musician!

Although I'd be hesitant to make the claim that this was all done in one take. There is some behind the scenes layering going on towards the end that you almost don't catch because there is so much going on already.

    But still... Bravo.

  • Can you specifically describe this "behind the scenes layering" that you think you hear?

  • @mbri: there's nothing going on besides david ford and his looping machine...

  • go the hell!!

    yeah!

  • bloody brilliant :)

  • who says you need a band?

  • so fucking rad! Amigo Congratulations.

  • This was cool... definitely thought it was worth watching, really cool concept.. =)

  • This is Great :)

  • david ford is so amazing! i wish i could see him live again :)

  • very impressing. a really DIY musician.

  • utterly brilliant

  • CooL..

  • i saw him in concert . well, it was ingrid's but he opened with newton faulkner. and was AWESOMEE :)

  • anyone seen him live and know what loop pedal he's using?

  • the benchmark for all singer/songwriters

  • Too bad that music artists arent so talented as him. Dave anderson is right!

  • talent extordinare

  • okay I got the first little piano bit that he played, the DAGADAGA etc. and the left hand part for it but I couldn't get the other piano part. Can someone give me the notes?

  • i love u love me

  • Wow. Keep waiting for this to get old and it's just not happening.

  • Absolutely amazing. I know what the next CD to grace my rack is going to be.

  • he's actually from England, not brooklyn, its just where this was recorded. still brilliant none the less.

  • this is such a COOL video!!!!!

  • cool

  • the voice sounds very "blind melon"

  • i agree

  • most talented artist out there...

  • gotta love them loop pedals!

  • great song and video. love it

cnt get that sound out of my mind anymore :D

  • yea i agree. " GO TO HELL!"

  • Is it possible to get this version in high quality?

And go to hell with your youtube downloaders

  • very nice )))))))

  • Anyone got the sheets for piano? Or can anyone at least make a tutorial.... please???

    I love this piece, it's awesome :) *****

  • brilliant.

  • it's like a looper follows him around and knows when to start and stop the loops/layers perfectly? how does he do this? He must have someone following him with a loop pedal pressing the buttons for him right?

  • to my understanding that's not how a loop pedal works. you need only to press the pedal once to start recording, lay down your base track and press again to start looping the first track. after that the next layers you put down get looped within the length of the clicking track.

say you have a 10 second beat track looping. the next 10 seconds of whatever instrument you play are looped within they're own loop played along with the beat.

  • however, if you play an instrument for 12 seconds then you get a loop of the first 10 seconds of that and another loop of an extra 2 seconds. the machine just keeps looping whatever it hears unless someone in the background stops looping for when david ford is singing.

  • there is also the possibility that the loop pedal he uses has loop quantize which syncs up the loops. for example, you press the pedal and the instant you have an audible noise is when the loop is started. when laying tracks over top of the first loop the timing is automatic with your pedal pressing, if you are a little late or a little early it will fix the mistake for you and sync everything up so it sounds good.

  • that's my knowledge of loop pedals, no expert on the matter. please, somebody correct me if I'm wrong.

  • I saw him in concert a year ago in Toronto and he performed the song without a band... more or less just like the video... he had some sort of handheld machine that he would record samples onto and play them in a loop (except the piano bit at the end and some guitar parts which he actually played)... really good live show. Very friendly afterwards talking to the audience as he drank a pint...

  • Does someone know the chords of this song ? ;]] wanna play it on the guitar;))

  • so all great musicians start of with a fork...

    :D

  • OMG, that was the most impressioning video I've ever seen. Man, you've inspired with learning playing on the piano ;)) thank you !!! Just hold your style, it's awesome ! ;)

  • YOU ARE A GENIOUSSSSSSSS. thats for sure!

  • i loved this song yesterday, i love this song today, and i'm sure i'll love it tomorrow !

  • Great to see you doing this live in Carlisle last week.

    Clever stuff for sure.

    Carol

  • Bardzo fajne, ale mógłby trochę czyściej śpiewać

  • Im a bit confused

Is it a one shot or a one take?

    there's a difference

Othervise BRILLIANT BRILLIANT Super cool and alternative way of making a video

  • fucking brilliant.

  • @ djpetey06 I saw him live a few months ago - it was amazing. He should have been headlining the show. All of his songs were great.

  • I'm not too sure about the technical stuff but he's playing live tomorrow at my university, part of a year 2 film and TV Production project. It's all being recorded and stuff. Doing sound checks earlier today, he played notes live and looped them. Allowing him to play the guitar, piano and stuff all at once. He's a great singer and a great guy.

  • This is the cooolest video ever!!!

  • indescribable!! love it !

  • you are my genious

  • this makes me smile

  • amaizing - You own dude!! You own!!

  • this is an amazing song... original and quirky

    super good music

    extremely talented dude too..

  • Well cool love it got both albums

  • this vid is so cool

  • amazing

  • good stuff

  • i love him

  • But still the hell of a song:) Outstanding and mach better than all the rest rock-pop shite. Give us more!!!

  • The false singing at the begginning makes you feel that he is doing it in real time, but it is realy hard to believe from one simple reason - mics. It is impossible to record such a space with dynamic mic(kitchen) and do not have spooon nearly clipping while dropped on table. Not to mention invisible loop pedal (unless operated by third person), and acoustics of the quite big room completely reduced in real time. It would be done though if the army of people is involved in one person's show.

  • Actually, I'm pretty sure all the recording, mic switches, and looping was done by a third person. Plus, I own a professional mic that basically records the same no matter how large the room I record in, so I think it was done in real time. Although, if it wasn't, it's not much less impressive.

  • you can set the loop function to loop anywhere and pause for as long as you want without looping. you start with the click (in this video the click is in his earpiece) then you map the loops i.e. loop 1 through 4, channel one (room mic), no loop for 5 through 12, loop 13 through 16, channel two (handheld mic) ect. you can map the whole song out, you would just need to know your marks, and have all your mics set up.

  • why dose that say go to hell?

    thankyou from sarah
