I heard this song when I was 5 years old and I almost cried. Her voice is so beautiful and pure, you just don't really hear voices like this anymore. And the thing about it is that the song was so painful for Lucille Ball and Desi to listen to, because of their real life divorce.
This is fabulous, and I have never seen (at the age of 63) this episode of ILL--thought I had by now! Rick Nelson did a sweet version of this in 1959 too. This was a wonderful song by a beautiful lady. RIP, Edie.
omg rite after i seen this and read the comments my mom screamed my name bc there was a special bout lucille ball of pbs and it was the lucille ball american masters it was great prolly one of the greatest documenteries of her life and thats all with edie was super sad bc they showed all the sad pics of desi and lucy together
OMG....i had stopped looking for this a long time ago, when no one knew what i was talking about! I would watch The lucy reruns on nick at nite when i was little and i fell in love with this song! I didn't hear it again until Buble did it. Thankyou for posting this!
iw atched them when i was little too!!! and i just saw a remake of their life in an actual movie form... never knew they were fighting so much or that they were actually married in real life!
I can't believe that the same thing that happened to me happened to everyone else. After I saw the American Masters of Lucille Ball 5 years ago I fell in love with this song and have been looking for it ever since. I cried too when I first heard it. Nobody sings it like Edie.
Nice voice, though the sound seems way out of sync. Edie owned a chain of salons called Edie Adams' Cut & Curl. I studied voice with the same teacher as her(the late Robert Young). Thanks for this nice clip!
Thank you so much for this video! I have been looking forever for Edie Adams version of this song ever since I saw PBS' American Masters: Lucille Ball. You made me so happy!
That's Edie Adams singing? The same woman who played Monica Crump in "It's A Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World"? Wow, does not look like her at all. This must've been many years before.
I love it but the video and audio are out of synch...I was hoping to gauge Lucy's facial expression as I read somewhere that she was crying during this the last episode filmed before her divorce

Edie was quite a beauty and a great singer too. She did a great Marilyn Monroe impersonation on one of Ernie's TV shows.

Wow, Edie is gorgeous. Doesn't she play a weather woman on the Ernie Kovacs show, Fair Weather or something like that? Any clips?

I want to thank you for this video. I have been dying to hear this song again since childhood. I brought tears to my eyes then and does today.

Anyone else notice the symbolism?
Of all songs, this is the one on the VERY last episode of Lucy/Desi and the day before she files for divorce.
Sort of like, "that's all for I Love Lucy, Luci and Desi Comedy Hour and Lucy and Desi in general"
