  • @ mkl62--Yep, yep. Haweis' tune is what I know, bright, lively, always seemed to fit the word "glad" in the title of the hymn.

  • I am an ELCA Lutheran from South Carolina. I play the piano and organ. Today (December 12, Advent 3), we opened our service with this hymn. However, it was to the tune, CHESTERFIELD, composed by Thomas Haweis, 1734-1820. It is #239, the very first hymn, in Evangelical Lutheran Worship.
