  • You, sir, are a legend.

  • And I thought the Norwegian education system was bad, christ.

  • It can't be as bad as the watered-down American textbooks...

  • It seems that Chef Excellence has given it a go at teaching.

  • Which form/grade/school year is this for?

  • Genius, wee man. Genius!

    Nail. Head. Hit!

  • What level is that textbook? The content would insult the intelligence of a primary 5 pupil

  • @MrsSatan I think it's S1-2, I never got that certain book but the shit I got was pretty similar anyway.

  • honestly love to smack that women who came up with this bullshit up side the face with a salmon, good job maintining broughton's reputation for ripping the shit out of all that is stupid btw

  • This is a critique of the textbook, not curriculum for excellence

  • @ramboice ...And? Read the title. It does say specifically 'Textbook Mockery'.

  • Just sat my Standard Grades last week...Fortunatly there weren't any questions asking for instructions on how to make gloopy crap. Seriously. Porridge making? If that's the best shit they can conjure up to reduce the numbers of functioning brain cells within our heads then they should really consider giving up.

  • Cameron, Good man - saying it like it is, from a students point of view. As a teacher I agree with you about all this. And I'm a physics teacher! How do you think I feel? Anyway, I need to go as I have to come up with a way of getting my 2nd years to represent a magnetic field via the medium of dance, and my Higher class are just finishing off their Kafka-inspired drama scripts about the philosophical paradox inherent within p-type semiconductors...

  • @alexcavers Medium of dance? Owch. In my class we only ever get to use equipment of sorts of the topic in question. I thought it was pretty boring, but man, I feel sort of privelaged now.

  • Glad you enjoyed the book, Cammie, and your constructive analysis.

  • Watched this in AH English today, our teacher showed it to us. We were nearly crying at:

"What is the Earth made out of?"

    ...

    "Have you ever made porridge?"

    Brilliant stuff xD

  • as a teacher I say... well said!

  • So true - shame about the language - but true. I can't understand why parents of the current S2 pupils aren't screaming from the roof tops. Do they not realise their child's future is being sacrificed on the altar of political pomposity and huburis

  • great video :D

you should do that documentary you're considering doing, sounds like a good idea!

  • Fear not, it'll all be scrapped in five years' time and replaced with some "common sense learning programme" which will replace the cutesy graphics with table after table of dry information as the system readjusts a fucking mile too far, as always happens, at considerable expense, as always.

  • I am currently training to be a Computer science teacher. Your video gives valuable insight into pupils opinions and ideas on the CfE. Trust me it is not just you. A lot of teachers feel the same way.

    Good watch.

  • As a small explanation for the governmental policy makers -

As the amount of 'good ides' and 'stuff' in education suggested by people who do not teach increases, the quality of that education decreases. This is inverse proportionality.

  • I've just sent this round a few colleagues at work - I teach for a living, at a different level to secondary but we still have to put up with CfE. What the Government seem to be missing is the fact that some of our greatest minds were produced under an education system wich was NOT learner centered or viewed all pupils equally regardless of ability.

I suspect CfE will produce a generation or two of numpties before it gets binned and feel truly sorry for pupils under this scheme.

  • Welp. There goes academia.

  • I really want to show my teachers this. They all talk about the curriculum for excellence as if it's the best thing it the world.

  • Nice editing on this one. Really funny.

  • "would you like to visit Nepal? Argue your case with the person next to you."

"I want to go to Nepal"

"I disagree, you don't want to go to Nepal"

"By George you're right!" (they say "By George" in Scotland, don't they?)

  • @ResettisReplicas Nope. You'd maybe say 'Aw aye, yer right' but that's still very stereotypical to be honest, most people in scotland aren't really like that.

  • 10 words when I think of Canada:

    Toronto

    Hockey

    Justin Bieber

    RAGE

    Scott Pilgrim

    Ok, all better

    How would they grade that?

  • Working with the person besides you: See how many diseases you can name?

What the hell is that all about. It this really what they teach kids in Scotland? The fuck man..

  • @OlyJeebus I know! Although most of the teachers are pretty reluctant to conform to it, so they use other books instead. I was gonna do a little compilation video of teachers who disagree with the system, but they didn't want to in fear of losing their jobs. It's downright awful, and I decided to write my persuasive writing piece in my english folio about it. It's getting sent off to the Scottish Qualifications Authority. Give them a piece of my fucking mind!

  • i am in the first year doing the cirriculime 4 exclence coarse so 4 this i say...thankyou.

ciriculim 4 exclellence is a bam!

  • @Nisla1998 Certainly doesn't seem to be doing your spelling any harm...........

  • My favourite video by you so far :D
