I love this pre-titles sequence. Probably the best of the Bond intros. (Also good are: FRWL, Thunderball, DAF, TSWLM, Moonraker, Octopussy, AVTAK, TLD, LTK, GoldenEye, TND, TWINE, Die Another Day, Casino Royale, and QoS.)

Watch closely when Bond "shoots" his grappling hook. There's a delayed response as someone off-camera throws the rope, pretending that it came from the gun.

I think the idea is that is gun shoots a wire that carries the rope with it, not that there's a hook at the end of the rope.

The gun shot the grappling hook which was tied to the rope that was on the ground. No way all of that rope can fit inside of the barrel of his gun.

I see what you mean. . but I still don't see how that is so. It takes a split second until the rope decides to catch up with the hook. It's not synchronized. I dunno. It's just weird and off.
