  • That isn't just a speedometer. Nuh uh. No. That is a Certfied Speedometer to you. Holding a Doctorate in Speedometry.

  • just saw the new Caprice pulled over on the side of freeway busting speeders. looked like an Impala from the rear at first. it took a bit to register what the heck i passed at first.

  • Built of the Holden Calais actually, and the Calais also looks better.

  • Kinda looks like an 07 Impala

  • If a police officer pulled me over in that, idk what i'd do to keep myself from laughing at him. Come on man, your basically driving a Lincoln Milan.

  • I think you should clean your objective on the camera from dust

  • we have here in the middle east caprice ss or ( impala ) and it have 360 hp top sped is 260k/ph and caprice never stop in middle east

  • DO NOT be fooled. I've got this beauty, this car's f*in amazing ! Power like Daaaymn - check them out, search Caprice LTZ V8.

  • I didn't even know Chevrolet was making Caprices, I guess it would look like an Impala as they are both CHEVROLETS....

  • looks too much like an impala

  • not very intimidating, it looks kinda like an 06 malibu. When the crown vic pulls you over with its huge grille and roaring radiator fan, you pee a little.

  • too bad it isnt publically available because i'd go buy one. Any idea how much it is?

  • @PetarVN its available to the public in australia where its made at about 65000 its a fully optioned luxury family car, police here dont use them they use the shorter wheelbase version known there as the pontiac G8, here its called holden ss commodore much lighter, better handling and faster

  • is this guy trying to sell a car to the police? lol

  • siren?

  • This could very well be the same car we have as the Vauxhall VXR8 in the UK

  • @00kirbyd no its not, vauxhal vxr8 is a shorter wheelbase, both made in australia by GM holden

  • can anyone buy the police version with the lamp and the tires.

  • WHY isnt this called the Impala and sold to the general public?!

  • @msiraco because its only for the Australian public and called the caprice!!! xD

  • that crown vic looks like a old mans car this is badass.

  • ...for the public.

  • Maybe it's nostalgia from the Impala-Caprice duo, maybe it's nostalgia from the Pontiac G8, but I really want GM to build this!

  • HOLY FUCK!!!!

  • @Crazyrokkstarr WHAT HAPPENED??!! :O

  • Why do police cruisers always have nicer seats in the back than the front?

  • @Jakeness21 It's not really "nice" well depends how you see nice. It's not really leather like it looks but it a flexible type of plasticy leather and under that is cutouts at the lower back for criminals in handcuffs so that nice leathery stuff is just there so it can be manipulated easy without being warn out or cut easy.

  • @Jakeness21 What do you mean? The Crown Vic often had hard one-piece seats that could be hosed off in the back.

  • img.haraj.com.sa/userfiles30/2012-02-20/4f41ede795c65.jpg

    my car !!

  • i have ss 2008 6.0 L and the caprice back to the market since 2000

    !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Its funny to imagine detectives going undercover in a car that's ONLY SOLD TO POLICE.

  • 11:44, uhhh SAINTS!

  • WHAT'S THE NAME OF THE SONG @ 9:23??!!

  • @vmaxx55 big shot- billy idol...

  • @kolbis99 you can clearly see the name on the radio, I was just being funny, thanks n e way

  • @vmaxx55 oh hahahaha I was like ummmm it says it on every screen that he switches too

  • good ol' usa, getting fucked over by its own..

  • Dammit I want one ! 400 Hp too !

  • @ruwithlee1970 my cousin has one..

  • @ruwithlee1970 come to australia there every where, police dnt use them to big and heavy they use the shorter wheelbase version known there as the pontiac G8 much more fun to drive still with the same 400hp output as the caprice

  • So when are these going to be offered to the public ? GM has no right to deprive us having a cool rear wheel drive v8 car! F--- the political crap & the tree hugging Commies !

  • @ruwithlee1970 I think it has more to do with supply and demand (you know, capitalism). There's not enough demand for RWD V8 sedans in the US for GM to supply them. Because, lets face it, the fast majority of consumers value price and reliability over performance, and that is where FWD V6s are superior.

  • Not bad for a police vehicle.

  • Kind of a bland car, definitley not exciting, I would say by the looks of this car it's even bland withthe ltz package.

  • @hottdylan1993 thats coz its a police car there, google holden caprice its a fully optioned luxury sedan, has even been compared to a bmw m5 at a fraction of the cost

  • can we see the holden cr8 ?

  • Throw a Whipple on it =)

  • *cough* Pontiac G8 *cough*

  • This doesn't look like the police version. Usually they don't have center consoles and have column-shift

  • Look very similar to the Monaro... you won't be seeing a VXR version though...

  • Damn, what a noisy engine :( And only single sealed doors?!? WTF. How unrefined.

  • @mohochris It's not meant to be refined...

  • BTW this is the base model Caprice of what is available in Australia & Saudi Arabia. The Carpice also comes in luxury and higher performance models such as the HSV Grange. Very nice, good handling & performance cars. I don't know why they aren't offering them to the civilian population in the States if they demand is there!

  • I want one

  • Not putting a column-shifter onto the police-spec version is ridiculous; that shifter is going to be a pain to reach with all of the equipment, such as the laptop stand/laptop and various radio consoles and microphones.

  • @crazyfooInc But you have to remember that the Australian police over here have been doing it for years..

  • @gddayman That's true, but change is almost never a good thing in important services like the police department, especially if muscle-memory becomes an issue. The column-shifter just frees up more space IMO.

  • @crazyfooInc True, i would actualy prefer to have a column shifter, too bad there arent many of them in australia..

  • @gddayman It's a shame there aren't many left in America; they are usually found on vans and trucks. The Crown Victoria/Lincoln Town Car/Mercury Grand Marquis were some of the last full-sized sedans with column-shifters. Not to mention the Ford E-Series vans are going to be replaced with the Ford Transits, which do not have a column-shifter.

  • @crazyfooInc "DETECTIVE" ... not police cruiser

  • @Ollie100111

He also showed the police-spec version in the video; both versions do not have column-mounted shifters; a dumb move IMO.

  • nvm, it is of the caprice

  • I only pull over for crown vics.

  • @punchmaster123 these are more powerful. the new charger cops have 100 more hp and awd

  • حشره

  • what the hell does a cop need an autostick for? lmao!

  • Charger Pursuit is 100% better!

  • the transmission on the 2011-present Chevrolet Caprice

    Transmission

    6-speed 6L45 automatic

    6-speed 6L80 automatic

  • 5:20 there is no isolated cover the covers the hood from insde!!

  • The rear end really looks like the impala!

  • this car is sold publically in middle east

  • Foo Fighters

  • I'm definitely going to miss the Crown Victoria; this just doesn't do it justice.

  • well, looks like I'm gonna need something faster than a nissan sentra when I'm 18

  • The window switch and handbrake placement are really cool.

  • @healingduck The center console placed window switches are cool til you spill your Big Gulp on em' like I did on my old 96 E-Class & it ended up costing me hundreds of dollars to repair. Mercedes have not put window switches in the center console since,GM's always the last to figure these things out...

  • finally a somewhat big rear wheel drive v8 is coming back to america! cant wait till there sold publically!

  • Kyle, have you seen the G8 GT (Silver) Unmarked car? You can usually find it on my side of town in MT. Island NW Charlotte..

  • I remember seeing a Pontiac G8 GT the year they released them. I thought wow. there's a GM car I would really buy. Then they discintinued it...I guess it lives on (a little) in this version.

  • nice vid

  • Figures that GM can't come up with their own ideas, so they start borrowing from their overseas companions. GTO? G8? Caprice? Fail.

  • @triton302 Pontiac. Chevy. Same thing.. Both made by GM.

  • Oh man......the sound of that engine.....

  • 00:56 anyone else notice that black burned like mark on the edge of the door looks like he was hideing it he evan closed the door while holding it

  • Great car but it'll never hold a candle to the P71.

  • @Photog422 Actually it will in performance but not in reputation.

  • @7477238 Precisely what I meant.

  • Does anybody have one yet?

  • @Thinker669 my cousin have one , this car is available in the middle east

  • this looks like horse shit

  • @patdfig5 ikr i think it's ugly

  • Oh and these are Holden Commodores. The Commodore series has been Australia's best selling cars for 15 years. Now America have finally decided to use them as cop cars.

  • @manheap12 Actually it's a Holden Caprice which has a longer wheel base than the Commodore.

  • Hmm wierd we can buy these as commercial car in Australia :/

  • The chime sounds like a volkswägen

  • Chevy shouldn't make another one because the base impala is banginn'

  • @AQWBWillBizzy With the front wheel drive bullshit? No thanks...

  • Well now every time I see a Caprice like this, I'll know it's a cop. Jokes on them!

  • @AVaneDew Uh what about the Dodge Charger?

  • @1998disco72 The Chargers are available to the general public. That means that if someone has a Charger that LOOKS like a cop car, it could very well be. These are exclusive to police departments–it will ALWAYS be a cop.

  • The front looks like a Mitsubishi galent

  • Looks like a redone version of the Saturn Aura at first.

  • Can you buy the 2011 Chevy Caprice as a civilian car?

  • @MrSwerving No it is only sold to government agencies...

  • @1998disco72 Not for long.

  • I was waiting for him not to be able to get out of the backseat (door handle override for prisoners), then find a shotgun in the trunk and a loaded 9mm with 2 clips in the glovebox :)

  • this car is cheap, ugly as sin and should not b called a caprice.

  • @arnold84500 it ain't the best lookin', sure.....but you gota admit, it's quite a sleeper with that 6.0 V8

  • @chpman2013 a sleeper for sure. would never suspect if i saw it in the rear view. somehow the pontiac g8 was better looking. basically same car tho.

  • I am a Saudi and own this 2011 caprice all i can say is thank you GM that i could buy this car in my country :)

  • This car-along with the now gone ford fairlane (aust) is the reason why BMW 7 series and MB S classes don't sell in Australia like they do in other countries.... In this you get the same 7 series long wheel base, sat nav, 2xrear lcd display screens/dvd players in the rear, tri-zone climate control, electric and heated everything, leather everywhere and a big V8.... All for a third of the price of the German badge..... It should be sold in the U.S, but BMW and MB dealerships won't like it..

  • @ttmm1133 This is not like the Australian Caprice which has many more luxury appointments comprable to the BMW 7 series. The HSV Grange is the way to go.

  • very nice

  • this is one of the best australian car, its right that you imported this model to your american country, its right( I dont understand why american factorys cant made it model in america)

I want and I hope to see & buy this new chevy caprice in my russia.

  • хорошая австралийская машина, правильно что вы внедрили её к себе в америку(сами вы такую сделать не сможете), странно что ее нет в свободной продаже, и жаль что её нет у нас в россии

  • Australian built!!

  • It's stupid that this car is not offered to civilians, for there are some customers that DO NOT want front wheel drive. I like this car, for it's rear drive, it looks sharp, and it is a great driver that's fuel efficient. The Pontiac G8 was a great driving car; this Caprice will follow suit. If I were running GM, I'd offer a civilian version of this car to customers to satisfy the rear drive crowd. Ford needs to bring its Falcon rear drive sedan from Australia; Caprice vs Falcon would be cool..

  • @carwrtr1 i'm sorry but you can't compare a civilian's Holden Caprice to a Ford Falcon the Falcon is simply not good enough.

  • @carwrtr1 I agree. The American's would cream their pants if they could get a hold of the Ford Performance Vehicles (GT & Typhoon) and full HSV range. Great muscle cars (that also handle well) for the money.

  • there is one on ebay right now for 30k

  • wow i didnt even know chevy made caprice today

  • Can civilians get it?

  • I get it, we get the crappy cars while the other nations get the better ones. Example: Saudi Arabia they have these all over the place.

  • FOO Fighters??? need I say more?

  • we have this caprice here in the middle east for civilians with diffrent trims, LS (V6), LTZ , Royal and The sporty SS, and yes its LS2 Motor.

  • Comment removed

  • When you say 6 liter are you rounding it up from 5.7? It looks like an ls1, it even has the same output. Maybe they used the old engine on a new car?

  • @Powersproductions130 it's actually rounded up from 5.96....the engine is a 364 cubic inch aluminum small-block....364/61 = 5.96

  • @chpman2013 thanks, yeah that was an uneducated question, i looked it up right afterwards and found out it was possibly the L76 out of the Pontiac G8 GT.

  • @Powersproductions130 yeah, it' the same engine as the G8...just slightly de-tuned for better reliability

  • Here in Miami we sadly won't get her ;/ We get crown victorias and chargers. Hope fully we get the all new taurus. Great vid though man like always

  • Eh. :/ I'm disapointed. I remember my dad's 1994 Caprice Classic. I prefer that over this.

  • police departments should start using this car instead of the crown vic b/c the crown vic is discontinued

  • @asghernaqvi hard to tell them that. The OPP here in Ontario refused any police cars except the Crown Vics (Canadian Built) until the discontinuation of them. They are moving over slowly to Tahoe SUV's (American) and Dodge Chargers (Canadian Built)

  • How did they fit a 6 liter in that small thing?? Well it is light as hell and so it will be fast

  • Man I want it.

  • They should have release these to public too!

  • I own a 94 Chevy Caprice and I would buy this car right now if I could!

  • There were actually 13 of these that they released to the public.

  • @EvilViolator124 yeah man I saw that on autoblog, some loophole they found that lasted a short bit of time lol

  • @EvilViolator124 no in saudi arabia we have this car in public and its not police car /watch?v=DZHX4zyl3u0

  • @xxIDxGxx I Know about that. But I was saying that there were only 13 here in the U.S. that were sold to civilians.

  • @EvilViolator124 lucky 13

  • If GM had any common sense, they would offer the Caprice as a civilian version to retail consumers. Ford got rid of the Crown Victoria (A STUPID MOVE), and the Charger/300 is a car that has awful visibility, entry/exit, and guzzles fuel, plus they ARE ugly. The only good thing on those two is rear drive. GM needs every dime it can get, and THERE'S NO REASON WHY THIS CAPRICE CANNOT BE OFFERED TO CONSUMERS; I bet some dealers will offer the 9c3 "detective" version for stock, and THEY WILL SELL.

  • puke!!!! come on gm. give us something better

  • @JendrusZbojnik talk to the Government lol

  • Why do people always make a big deal if a 6L makes 350 HP? If it can do 0-60 in 5 seconds, why do numbers matter? And if you're so concerned about the numbers, throw a supercharger on it and get 430 HP instead.

  • @kyle51895

Because they are usually uninformed morons that think horsepower is everything and torque is not important. They couldn't be more wrong.

  • @adogg619 I was going to say it's torque that matters, but I didn't want to start a flame war :P

  • @kyle51895

    I understand.

  • I own a Crown Victoria, and I'd gladly own this car, because it's rear drive; Ford needs to bring its Falcon rear drive sedan from Australia here to America. GM NEEDS TO OFFER A CIVILIAN VERSION OF THIS CAR, FOR THEY WOULD SELL SO WELL............

  • Did anyone see what the tire pressures were set to?? 52???? Holy CRAP!!!

  • 1. Nav is not an option. 2. Bluetooth is not available either.

  • It looks so weird without that split chevy grill.

  • The window switches on the center does remind you of the old Meredes-Benz cars, but I think Engineers did it so the car would have balance in the center. They believe that the window switches on the driver's door will add too much weight on the driver's door than the passenger, which will cause imbalance. The car without the spotlight has a center console that looks like a regular Caprice sold in other countries. But this one is only used for Police Departments.

  • If many of you haven't Noticed, Look up the Pontiac G8 Base, the Caprice is a Longer and wider wheel base. the Same vehicle, just not as powerful.

  • @jaysindix It's not wider.

  • The Crow Vic is getting fazed out by the Brand New Twin turbo V6 Eco SHO Taurus in 2013 (for police), this new car will be considered a full sized Lux vehicle in public, and AWD model with the ECO Boost engine for police, i'm told.

I own the 2011 9C3 Caprice PPV. It has 355 HP, they restricted most of the vehicle to help it pass emotions for the american standards, Open up the air intake, and put a better set headers back, remove the 4 Cat-converters and you can push 425+ HP as i have done.

  • It's good, it's really good, but it will never have that "special thing/feeling" that the Crown Victoria had/has.

  • @drx1994 You mean that uncomfortable feeling when going around corners? Or that "special feeling" when you mat the go pedal to the floor and you don't go anywhere quickly?

  • @PMD220S Maybe you're right, maybe the Crown Victoria wasn't the best car there was, but it has become an icon of the USA, it has "spirit" if you know what i mean and I meant to sat that I think it's going to be difficult for the Caprice to follow that simbolism. (Excuse my English, I'm from Spain)

  • 6.0 should have about 500hp...a lil noodle armed to be so big!

  • now I have to memorize new headlight and taillights. Crown vics were always easy to pick out of a crowd

  • attention all debate comment writers on this video . this car has 390 lb ft of torque. enough said

  • Everyone's complaining about the hp figures! If it had more power, there would be more stress on the motor, thus less reliability. but if you factor in torque figures, no 2L 4cylinder can crank out as much torque as pushrod V8's. It's not all about hp

  • omg stop bitching about it only has 355hp its detuned and its not to be a race car, the crown vics u were lucky to have 200hp

  • @sasserdave the CV's had 250 horse out of a potent 4.6 liter...thats not bad compared to this 6 liter with only 355. They have had over 200 horse since the 90's.

  • @moparmaniac21 250 at the crank ford has always judge there power at the flywheel where as gm goes by whats at the tires but not always, and 355 hp is more then it looks peopple always thinks its slowif it does not have 500 to 1200 hp, 355 is good for a detuned 6.0
