I just read something about her online. It says that Heath Ledger died January 2008, and that after that she started to date Spike Jonze and the couple came out in July 2008. 5 months ??? The man just died, and you're banging another one already ? How disrespectful is that ? And also, why didn't she accepted the awards on his behalf ? Very strange. Anyway, if all this is true, she deserves no respect.
@Djinga harsh judgement there- some people rush into romances quickly to distract themselves from their grief, or because their loneliness is unbearable or they are just at a loose end and confused. It doesn't mean they didn't care about their former lover. My mom started dating 6 months after my father's death; it has a lot to do with the fact that she had no sense of identity without a partner.
She seems like such a nice person, so sensitive and insightful. And she's an incredible actress. She could act out the yellow pages and it would be a masterpiece.
She was amazing in the movie, she seems very modest about her work, just like Heath was. You could just tell that those two acted solely for the love of acting.
What a lovely, soft-spoken, intelligent young woman. Brokeback Mountain and Wendy & Lucy are both gems. The more I see her, the more I find her absolutely amazing.
she did an amazing job in this movie, actually while i was watching and saw how she was acting i said omg MW should get an academy award for her performance, then i loged on imdb and found out that she was nominated for an academy award for this role and i was like I KNEW IT :P
Broke Back Mountain was such a interesting movie that did so well I do hope they do a seaqual(yeah I know I know Heath is dead I know that!)except this time it is Michelle Williams and Anne Hathaway that fall for each other. Now that would sell tickets even faster then Broke Back Mountain did and even more tickets would be bought!Maybe then I would seat more comfortable then during the sweet(sexy)and tender love making scenes...Ooh so super sexy sexy!!O yeah DIG IT!!
Michelle has hired one of the top Oscar publicists in the business Cynthia Swartz. But the film is getting a tiny distribution. We'll see. It's called "Wendy and Lucy" about a homeless girl and her dog. A tough sell.
Michelle is an amazing actress and she seems like an amazing person as well, very warm and reserved, and even a bit nervous. You guys seem to have had a great time in this interview.
I can only imagine what she's going to say when Michelle goes up to the stage to accept Heath's almost guarranteed posthumous Oscar.
You're a great interviewer, you talked intelligently about brokeback and you also brought up some of her unknown work - which you can tell she was genuinely happy you mentioned, btw i love michelle, she seems like such a kind gentel soul, and i think its disgusting how the media is hounding her over heath's death, did you see them all swarming over her when she went to his apartment? Ugh. Revolting. Seriously, they need to leave her and little Matilda alone.
Michelle Williams is just really shy. But Stephen Holt, I watched you in this and your interview with Marion Cotillard, and I think you are such a good interviewer because you seem genuinely interested in the work of your guests. So many interviews I see don't know squat about the movie or the actor's part in the movie. You actually had seen her on the show and discussed that with her and I think that peaked her interest.
I think Michelle Williams is probably the smartest of the movie stars these days. I just watched her in "Dick" and she did such a great job of projecting quiet intelligence and a contemplative spirit. I watched the movie because I have kind of an obsessive thing about Kirsten Dunst but now I also have a thing about Michelle Williams. Watch those two in "Dick" and you will see how well they create an amazing Jungian introvert/extrovert tension between them.
I think Dick is a great example of a comedy that could have been stupid but ended up being intelligent and intruiging. I usually don't like Kirsten Dunst, but I thought she did a great job in the role, and Michelle Williams was as charming as ever. In my opinion, she was the only good thing about Dawson's Creek and she shined in Brokeback Mountain. She's a beautiful, sensitive actress who I'll definately keep an eye out for.
We all already know how incredibly moving and heart-breaking her speech will be when she picks up Heath's inevitable Supporting Actor Oscar for "The Dark Knight." I'm crying already...ANOTHER indelible Oscar moment we'll never be able to forget. God Bless Michelle and Matilda. And Rest in Peace, Heath...
I really enjoyed this interview! And though I had never really thought about it, I think you're right: Alma essentially acts as the portal through which mainstream audiences can relate to—and embrace—this challenging masterwork.
Of the very strong cast, I think Williams and Ledger were the standouts.
Michelle has such an incredible sweetness to her. And she's got a great acting talent. I got a chance to interview her a 2nd time for Oscarwatch, she liked this interview so much. It was entitled She's Never Been Happier." And at that time, she was. She said I was the 1st person to tell her that she would get nominated for an Oscar for Supporting Actress, and she did!I have a sixth sense about this things. See my Marion Cotillard interview.
heath shall live on in us forever. his soul is still with us. pray for michelle and matilda to stay strong through this hard time. they'll make it. GO MICHELLE, YOU ROCK!
It was indeed a play Off-Broadway directed by Scott Elliot, who really adored Michelle and thought she was the sweetest. It was a British play, a comedy, about an exterminator, or all things, by Mike Leigh. I'm sure you can find more about it on Google. It was very well done, and the company callls itself the New Group and has made a name for itself doing Mike Leigh plays. Leigh is mainly known for his films. Michelle obviously loved doing it. It was a high point for her, I think.
You're very welcome. I got to interview Michelle twice & she was just the sweetest young woman. Really genuinely sweet and trusting and oh, did she love Heath! And her baby! She was sooo love! I think he was too. I thought this was a couple of young kids who could make in the the Hollywood world...I was shocked when they split...And now...His death has hit the whole world hard...It's impacted everyone, from every walk of life...all over the world...He will be forever missed.

Djinga, Heath and Michelle weren't a couple anymore when he died. They seperated in September 2007 and he died in January 2008.

Wendy & Lucy is incredible film.
Michelle is so amazing in the film.
too bad the film is so small & most of the people didn't see it yet!

i think it is not her place to accept his oscar in case that happens...they were not married.
more likely heaths father or director of the batman film will.
but i have heard she (michelle) has good chance to be nominated too...

Michelle is a very talented actress and I'm sure such a sweet young women.
I'm so sad about Heath's death and even more when I think about Michelle and Matilda.
I read somewhere that Michelle wants to make a documentary about him for her daughter.
It is such a beautiful idea.
Heath is gone but when you look at Matilda, you know he's still living through her. She looks just like her daddy.
Thank you for you interviews Stephen, they are great !
