Hilarious when she gets going about her food processor. Making her washing machine jealous!!! I like the dialogue because it offers an opinion about the chemical properties of the ingredients and let's us know why she does things a particular way. About the costs, food you're buying pre-made has a lot of inexpensive, but non-nutritive filler--sugar, unsaturated oils, refined flour. Treat your body right. :)
I am not your average consumer, I used to sell nuts, spices, pastas, and a large array of items to restaurants & grocers, organic/nonorganic etc so I KNOW what they cost or should cost to the wholesaler and end buyer. Now if a place like Sunflower in albuquerque can sell organic almonds and pecans for $6.99 how is it possible that this place charges double?
With todays economy you cannot justify a family of four on a budget shelling out that kind of money, especially when other places sell the same thing for less money. I am not cheap I am however frugal and I shop around for what I buy. When I talk to people the main reason they do not purchase whole and organic is because they have a mortgage, gas, electricity, clothes, water to pay for not to mention putting up money for their kids collage, and their own retirement.
@Chaniyth Instead of pushing a place that only the affluent can afford, why not name places where the average person can shop? Medjool dates from California should NOT cost the end buyer what they charge.
ok recipe but 1. too quiet. 2. too much talk as mouseofvirtue commented. 3. i think advising people to 'gently rock' their food processor not only sounds like soft porn but is irresponsible. 4. just blend the friggin 4 ingredients.
ok i am trying to get more into organic and raw foods and i have gone to the living tree websight. how are you supposed ot afford this stuff? for the everyday average person there is no way that we can afford to pay $15.00 for one pound of pecans $12.99 for 8oz of cocoa powder, $15.00 for 1 pound of raw nibs, $9.99 for one pound of medjool dates. you looking at at least $20.00 for thhe crust and we have not even gotten to the filling nor shipping costs.
Yes, however most of us are used to buying 'cheap' because most foods we consume are heavily chemically created and processed and 100% pure garbage for our bodies. It's cheaper to make.
Also, those items actually break down to cheap when you realize the amount of crusts u can make. You'd be able to make about 3 - 5 pie crusts with that. So it's actual cost per crust, is not much more in price than an unhealthy, pre-made, processed pie crust. :)
i love her! why do you guys not like her talking!!?? shes awesome!
