Steve mixed this with enought BASS to destroy your home stereo speakers. I have blown speakers with Eat It. I now have some stage speakers and a thousand watt amp I plan making some real loud noise with and finally hear it the way Marriot would have done it live. LONG LIVE THE PIE.
Humble Pie was, SEX DRUGS AND ROCK AND ROLL. Thank you Steve, I will see you on the other side. I have turned many new generations on to The Pie and Small Faces. This is a true rock and roll anthem. I dont dance and this makes me want to get up and dance. OH LA DE DA HEY HEY HEY.
Why in the world don't American radio programmers hear this and play it, or any other Pie songs? I am so sick of hearing the same thing over the airwaves and this is the real deal man, Marriott was the daddy! Long live the Pie!!!
one of the best brit's who rocked america, way before my time, wished i seen one of their concerts with frampton/clempson/ or w. the blackberries. my foot cant stop tapping or me singin. highlights off the lp was this song, thunderbox, 99 pounds, and every single day.
Yes indeed that is Stevie's voice I have been listening to Marriott for so long that there is no mistakening it. Paul Rodgers, Robert Plant, Joe Cocker all agree that he was the man. R.I.P. mate I'll always miss you.
@gorblimey61 Yeh that is one of the blackberries. I saw the Pie in Chicago in 73 or 74 at the International ampetheatre with Framtons camel and another great band, and Steve had the Blackberries with him, fucking awsome I was in the nosebleed section and Steve was a giant on stage.
The studio stuff on "Eat It" was pretty poorly mixed. Too much low end muddiness. Actually the live side is muddy too, but it manages to rock hard. The studio stuff is a little disjointed too, but I like "Get Down To It".
Yeah, those Blackberries were quite the singers. Just got the Thunderbox CD, since my record player is broken. I like it alot better than "Eat It", which I sold to some kid in New Jersey a couple days ago..

There's Marriott and then there's the rest. If you never saw the guy perform at his height then you could be forgiven for thinking otherwise

Seems like all they'll play is either 30 Days or Hot & Nasty. The Pie made a lot of great music, but unfortunately most of it goes unnoticed.

Them Blackberries could wail too! Along with Steve that band had a real tour-de-force in the vocal department.
