as for d day , yes the US suffered heavy casualties on omaha , but the battle for normandy as a whole , the casualties aroun caen were far heavier , i dont like arguing with americans ,because i know what they did in ww2 etc, were allies , even today , who was it that supported america the most ,and up to the hilt, ireland , no fear , no it was us , its our soldiers dying for an american cause

@ernstbecker1 as for nazi europe , yes you aided us with aid , all paid for ,and brought over on british merchant ships before you joined the war , 30,000 british merchantmen died ,as well as canadian, ,the nazis could not invade, and the sea routes were kept open by the royal navy, we beat them at sea and in the battle of britain, so we saved ourselves from invasion, true we could not invade europe alone, but you couldnt of without us either, america was lucky we held out

@ernstbecker1 what part dont you agree with, when ww2 broke out for us , it was 3rd september 1939 , not december 41, the first british merchant ships were sunk that day , we had lost hundreds of thousands of tonnes of shipping even before you joined, canada joined in to , it was us whos tactics defeated the u boats not america , when you joined your admiral king ,ignored good advice , to form convoys ,he sent them out one at a time and were sunk one at a time ,

@Javah90 , even later we did the lions share in north africa, and sicily and italy almost half the action, and the harder of the fighting,in sicily, and had to help you at cassino, normandy we had the harder task, after dday,,full respect to america and russia, but if britian had fallen in 1940, there was a very good chance the axis would of won ww2 , in that light you could say we saved you haha ,and thats not as daft as it sounds :o) lol

@ernstbecker1 no my uncle went in on the 1st wave on d day, he got isolated in a german counter attack,and was shelted by local french people until it was clear, its well known the british,and canadian held the main ss divisions and counter attack around caen, while the americans broke out in the west , of course i wasnt there , my uncle and father was in the royal navy and i had 3 other uncles who fought in n africa, italy and france

@Traitorfish already have ,and if you read on about the civil war between anti agreement and pro agreement republican forces , you, ll find there were more execution, more deaths and more atrocities, during them years than during the war of independence , the british executed the 16 plus 7 others , makeing 23 executions , the new irish goverment executed 77 anti agreement ira ,plus atrocities like tying 8 or so prisoners to a landmine and blowing them to bits
