Big help! I had my chain off today after it broke. I made the rookie mistake of pushing the pin all the way out when removing the broken link. It'll make a big difference doing it the way shown as it'll have to come off again.

if you break an sram chain that uses a powerlink at a link that is not the power link if you undertstand me can another power link be added to it. also to shorten an sram chain is it desinged to have links removed with a chain tool. the only thing i am nto happy about the power link is when it is reconected it seems to be very easy to break apart and i am worried that my chain may break aaprt due to the ease of the power links being removed

Repairing a chain can be done with a screwdriver & vice grips, assuming you have a master link.

As far as cleaning the chain, why remove it from th bike? Take the bike to a local do it yourself car wash and spray all the working parts down, then after it all dries, regrease, simple.
