i've been sticking up for spirit tracks since i've heard about. and now that it's out, and i have, i can safely say this: none of the zelda games ever disapointed me in the past (i actually loved zelda 2), and when i got this game, i thought, "holy shit, niko must be a hundred and thirty." XD. spirit tracks is a really, really great game! like i said, none of the zelda games disapointed me, and ST didn't disapoint either :)

Sounds interesting. I still have doubts on this game, but not because of the whole train thing that's ok whatever. But they're bringing back another dungeon in which you'll have to return to many times which made PH suck compared to other Zelda games (but was still a solid game). But the plot sounds great for Zelda, I mean you talk to Zelda more often that is just ownage!

And I'm shocked America and Europe are getting it before Japan that is awesome! I might pick it up.

The Multiplayer in Spirit Tracks looks like a big step up from Phantom Hourglass' multiplayer. Instead of playing "Capture the Triforces", you play "Kill your opponents (using traps, bombs, and other power-ups) and take their triforces. It seems alot more action-packed and, just like Phantom Hourglass, it's Single-Cart Multiplayer supported, as well as Wifi.

the only good reason that you could say that the games with Toon Link are not Zelda is that there is a different mode for sailing/traveling town-to-town, even though AoL featured that also. You can not define absolute Zelda except that

*Samus is not in there, nor any other Nintendo/sony character

*Link is not "Ma Boi"

*there is no vocal talking except for the occasional "HEY!" or "Listen!".

*the hero has green clothes

*the hero never changes his clothes between or during dungeons

*no mcdonalds

My timeline theory is:

Wind Waker → Phantom Hourglass → Links Awakening → Spirit Tracks. The reason I think Links awakening is part of this section is because A: It has a boat where Link is on some kind of journey (possibly a new land) B hes older so it would be after the events in PH, C it was a dream. i think this works. Anyone agree/disagree?

How is wind waker first?

It speaks of the hero of time, and link is not at the age where he inherits the green clothes.. yes the sea covers most of the land etc... but that could also come at the end. (nintendo may be thinking of global warming, countries drifting away (like what happened on earth), or whatever) plus, gannon, the main villian turns to stone, and hyrule floods once again, marking the end?

(i haven't played PH) but in LA, even in the "dream" theres a village with talking animals, other LoZ games had these, like, A link to the past in the dark world - would you place ALTTP before the timeline split or on the other subsection ? (surely minor things like that would effect the timeline as well?)

I've played all the games except Minish Cap and Majora's Mask and I was happy with all of them. But ya like most people the timeline keeps getting effed up. The new games are always further back then we want them to be. I think they should continue after Twilight Princesses or something. When I saw the first trailer for Spirit Tracks, I thought it was gonna be great. With the newest trailer, it's gonna be even better. Having played every Zelda game minus the two Four Swords, I'm really glad to see Zelda play a more important role. This game looks really fun from riding a train to controlling the Phantom.

At first I was really leery of how Spirit Tracks would work, but it seems pretty innovative really. I suppose that the reason the game LOOKED sort of linear is because of story purposes. As it was said, the Spirit Tracks are disappearing. There will probibly be more paths to take as the story goes on.

I also love the idea of Zelda having a bigger role. As I said on the trailer, why didn't they do this sooner?

As for the timeline thing... trust me, people will find a way to make it work xD.

I never changed my mind. This game seems terrible. And considering I despise Zelda as a character... don't think I'm getting this. I wasn't exactly a fan of Phantom Hourglass either. Something about the gameplay controls and just... so much of it. Windwaker was an amazing game, but these two follow up games kind of ruined the magic for me. These seem too spin-off-y to really be a Zelda game in my mind.

Spirit Tracks isnt a direct sequel to Phantom Hourglass. In an interview Miyamoto had, he said that Spirit Tracks will happen after the events of PH a hundreds of years later. It isnt a direct sequel jiji.

@sonicpacker: I don't really see why MM timer would make someone quit playing.. You can slow it down significantly and after each dungeon you can just make start all again.. No harm, no hassle. Thanks to three day cycle Termina felt much more lively place than any other Zelda game could have done and not to mention all the tasks you can do in Clock Town.. Each day had diffirent things happening. Three day cycle was brilliant idea and that alone made MM one of the best games in the franchise.
