I think a lot of the faults that are stated in this video's description of Islam are more toward cultural practices. I know many Muslims and they are not barbaric at all. It is all about the person themselves. The Koran has a lot of fascinating and insightful teachings. All religions do. You don't have to convert to any religion, you can worship God in the way you want to, and you can call God whatever name you wish to.

The laws are derived from it, the ashramas, yoga, regulative principles. The whole purpose of Hindu dharma is to lead people away from Maya (illusion) and strong attatchment to all things material and to encourage spiritual learning and experiance. I think a lot of the faults that are stated in this video's description of Islam are more toward cultural practices. I know many Muslims and they are not barbaric at all. It is all about the person themselves. The Koran has a lot of fascinating and insightful teachings. All religions do. @russelindia There is no maybe about it. The basis is the Vedas and scripture considered sruti like the Bhagavad Gita. There are 8 schools of thought, Vedanta is the dominant form. The laws are derived from it, the ashramas, yoga, regulative principles. The whole purpose of Hindu dharma is to lead people away from Maya (illusion) and strong attatchment to all things material and to encourage spiritual learning and experiance. To become awakened and return to the Godhead = Brahm.

hinduisim is not technically a religion. it was a manifesto charted out on how to live all aspects of life which is why you have the vedas, which look at medicine, spirituality, sex, social life etc. There was no worship of idols but nature/natural elements. It was essentially driven by oral storytelling. Idols started to appear I guess for young couples who could concentrate on the divine, the idea was in the end that one leaves behind these idols by becoming a monk
