@coonalishus There's more to gripe about than that. GT5 has literally the worse looking shadows I've seen in this generation of games. The car models are smeared with these flickering, low-res shadows that belong in a PS2 game. The severe lack of premium models also sucks. I feel sorry for people who play this with a racing wheel and then try to select cockpit view in a standard car. You can't even buy new brakes for your ride in GT5 Lol. The environments for the most part suck too.

@BudzMcgr33n those who play with a racing wheel wouldnt use cockpit view. if you had a racing wheel, your wheel would be the cockpit and the tv screen would be the windshield. you would use hood or bumper cam. Shadows look fine most of the time, but sometimes they can look weird. and while the environments look "alrite", i couldnt give a shit about them as im usually flying past them doing 250+ km/h

gt5s sounds may sound bad or old or sqeaky but they sound more similar to the real car trust me ive done checks on over 100 cars from recent videos of gt5 and gt5p

Dash View Of Gt5P Looks Alot Better But The Model Driver Inside GT5 Car Is Static, Whereas In PRG4 He Actually Looks Like Driver While Changing Gears.

GT5 still has the skidding sounds from the first Gran Turismo. I don't care how good the graphics are, if the cars sound like a blender it takes away the experience.

@sodazman I totally agree with you. The skidding sounds are still the same and it's very annoying.. They have to change the sounds. I am a big GT5 fan, but Forza 3 and especially PGR4 really have good car sounds.. It gives more feel when driving and you feel more connected to the road.

@Aquarius086 i agree i enjoy gt2 more then any of the newer realese simply because the car sounds actually sound like the cars in real life gt4 was a big let down but mind you the jza70 supra in gt4 with standard exuast dose sound exactly like my jza70 :D so some cars were done right and others were fails, i just find it strange that some low budget games seem to sound alot better then the gt series!! anyway sound is the most important factor for me even if the phyics and graphics are bad

@zeron82411 Yes it does. In GT5 you can select three settings in audio. Living Room, Small Theater and Large Theater. Living room is good for sound output from your tv. Small and Large theater sound output is good for a 5.1 or 7.1 receiver. I have my setup with an optical cable so no hdmi. I noticed that when I select the setting Large Theater the volume is very low. So I use Small Theater.. My guess is that Large Theater is for a hdmi supported receiver for LPCM 7.1 surround sound. Try it out!

@Aquarius086 Well, the engine sounds are BETTER in the FULL game in my opinion. If you look up the real Lexus LFA, for example, then drive it on GT5, it sounds like the real thing as one example. but the skidding to me sounds real if you really listen to the different kind of skidding like if you brake hard compared to turning.

Polyphony Digital seemed to be compromised with every single detail when developing the game, but they forgot two of most important things: the feel that you are really driving the car and the engine sounds. In the end I think they released a game that is no real, but artificial.

@nixxxon18 Typical Sony fanboy. The sound plays a BIG roll in driving experience. And when get a 160,000 dollar supercar and it sounds like 2,000 dollar P.O.S Honda Civic we've got a problem. Not to mention that the car damage and crash physics are piss poor, loading times takes a freaking life time, and you got like a zillion copies of the same Japanese sports car. I've been a GT fan since day one, and GT5 was a disappointment. Traded it in for PGR4 and been happy ever since. Save the excuses.

@nixxxon18 Did I say anything about Forza? No I did not. I said PGR4. Maybe you should get your eyes checked. GT5 is a GT4 reboot, and you and I both know it. I'm not spending 60 dollars for a reboot. I never said the game was bad. I said it was a disappointment for the fans who's been wait 5 YEARS for the game to come out. You can still play the game and enjoy it, just like I can think the game is a disappointment. Not being a "hater", just stating my opinion with some facts mixed into it.

just compare the graphics of gt4 and gt5. GT5 is like 100 times better. No reboot, only the starndard cars are taken from gt4 and improved. It is obvious that some stuff looks similar because they get a lot of the same circuits and cars, so what'? I dont know what you expected? GT5 is 1080p and 3D, it reaches the PS3 capability limit. Can't be better.

yeah I will record the new comparison again with my Satio for video but i will record the audio straight from ps3 and xbox360 to my audigy 2 soundcard. So this will eliminate most of the quality loss. Sync between video and audio may be an issue but i will do my best to fix that. It's more of an audio comparison anyway. New comparison will be ready today.

It was recorded with my SE Satio mobile phone. The sound system is from the Sony Bravia LCD tv and also Altec Lansing PC speakers. In PGR4 there's definitely more bass in the engine sound giving it a more natural feel. GT5 prologue somehow has it's own sound what isn't bad but i really prefer PGR4 engine sounds more. I will post a new engine sound comparison soon with another car.

I noticed that the volume of the audio in GT5:P is considerably lower than the audio from PGR4. I suppose that this is due to the consoles putting out different volume levels. So while I agree that the PGR4 sounds are better, this somewhat distorts the true differences in sounds. Do you see a way to eliminate that difference before making the next comparison?

Regrettably PGR4 sounds the business. GT5 looks pretty and I cant wait for it to come out, but for some reason they wont address their sounds to the their cars..
