I own a Sony 100mm f/2.8 macro (SAL-100M28) its used worth is 679.99 Should I sell it to buy this camera?? or is that just dumb?? Please tell me rev or someone
@MrKorean30 It's an APS-C sensor camera, which means it's a crop sensor. A crop sensor means that if you put were at an 18mm focal length on a crop sensor camera (such as the D5000) then it would be equal to a 27mm focal length on a full frame sensor camera (such as the D3s). Hope that helps :)
I am not a photographer but I just need something nice for quality images. Is there anyone who can tell me if I should get this D5000 or should I just go for Canon Rabel T1i. They both are around the same price and the specifications are almost the same .. I like D5000 but it has 12.3 mexapexel while Canon is much higher in pixel. Canon T1 has 15.1 pixels. Does that make a difference or what? Please let me know if you are a photographer. I like high quality images. I needed it for my new hobby!
@sirajrizvi First of all, you should know that Canon and Nikon are the two leading camera company. You can't go wrong with both of these cameras. It depends whether do you want a better video recording? Or do you focus more on pictures. Both of these cameras take high quality pictures. Personally, I recommend that you take the Nikon D5000. It's user interface is much more user-friendly and more graphical. But that's me. Go to a shop and try both of them to see which one suits you more :)
Hey, did anyone had problems when camera doesn't ave a picture? Does anyone know how to resolve it? (yes, there is a card inserted and no, it is not full) I took three pictures, restarted the camera and I can't get the darn thing to shoot again!
@JC040696 Live View. I bought a new SD card that is higher class and the problem was gone away for a while, but later it came back.
I took the camera to the shop but the problem could not be replicated (backstabbing DSLR). I also searched the internet with no matches too.
The manual of the camera specifies certain manufacturers of mem. cards (that were tested) but that doesn't help. Manual also mentions something about heat (LV doesn't work); maybe there is a mech. fault with the thermometer.
I have a D5000, very cool camera, but I'm really having second thoughts about it. I was thinking if I should've bought the D90 instead. But, whatever right? I already have the D5000. I actually use it for video recordings and stuff, very nice quality.
As a recent photo enthusiast, the D5000 was the perfect camera for me. Being a newbie to photography, this camera is a great introductory camera from someone who wants more than a point and shoot camera. The pictures are stunning, the learning curve is minimal and the overall quality of the camera is phenomenal. You will not go wrong with this camera if you are looking to get beyond the point and shoot and take your pictures to another level.

im really getting a hard time about deciding which camera should i buy im thinking about nikon d5000, canon EOS 500 and the olympus E-620 i really would like some recommendations....
To me I wouldn't have it any other way than to have a DSLR with an info screen on top of the camera. It makes everything simpler for someone like myself who like to use his camera on manual mode. If you know little on how to use a DSLR manually than the D5000 is ideal for you where the scene modes you pick for portrait, scenery, macro, action etc. in the dial on the top. But IMO images won't always be all that great using the "scene modes"....
D5000 Nikon. I just bought 1 yesterday. It has a good picture quality and if you want to take a picture in a room with no light, and you turn the flash off, after snapping, the picture would show a room which is very different from the dark room as the picture you see would looks like afternoon time but you see would looks like the night time. :)
I can't decide if I wan't a Canon EOS 500D or a Nikon D5000. I'm pretty new to this, but i'm a fast lerner so I don't want a camera that makes me feel limited, if you know what i mean. I know alot about photography and cameras but I don't own a DSLR so I was wondering if anyone can help me?

I didnt want to be limited as you said, but since buying the D5000 and using it theres nothing that makes you restricted or a novice. Im also a fast learner and know lots about photography and wouldnt turn back on my decision of the Nikon, but don't get me wrong the Canon is a brilliant camera, but preference of the Nikon won me over
man i hate that im trying to step up my game, and ill i get from the new dslr cameras is that theyre user friendly and not too hard to use... i want to get out of the scene modes and the menus! but apparently i cant do it for under 1000 bucks!
is it just me.. or does thiscamera look quite chunky.??
mayb it also depends on hus holding it.... i have small hands so i guess this camera will look super big with me.. hmm i might just look into the D60 but i want movie mode hehehe :S:S
i have the d5000 and i love it. its not as big as it seems! infact, i know a family freind that is a pro photographer (also a writer) that uses the d5000. great camera!
Quality is the same but D90 has more features. for the record though, they both have the same image sensor and in video mode perform identically.
if you buy the standard lens bundle they come with the same excellent VR lens so the D5000 bundle is probably better value is its much cheaper than the D90 bundle
The actual reason the D90 has a 4 minute 59 second max video record time is because in certain countries (US included) HD Video cameras get taxed extra when imported from foreign countries (Japan) and to be concidered a HD camera, it has to be able to record for 5 minutes or more in HD. So Nikon put a limt on it to reduce cost.
Also Dslrs are all for taking still pictures. But really, if u mostly want video Get a red or something haha
for some reason i found the d90 easier to use even though the d5000 is suppose to be more simple and more user friendly...O_o maybe thats just me but idk... ill be getting a d90 pretty soon~
meh~ but i still prefer the d90 over the d5000... i know that the d5000 is worth it but i still like the d90 over it... and its not like the d90s just going to get destroyed by dust...-_-
and not to sound like an ass or anything but i can get whut i want...
d90 is way better than the d5000 in my opinion though...
I'm looking to gett my first DSLR,Im considering buying canon's rebel XSI but I've just found out about Nikon's D5000 what would be a better choice? I'll be taking all kinds of photo's but mostly macro, what do yall think? which camera produces shaper and better quality pictures?
The xsi is a bit older, and is more comparible to the d60, and between those two i hear the d60 is sharper and better with noise, so this d5000 will be much better, ive used a d60, and its was great, and this camera has nothing but improvements over the d60, so i think my advice would be the d5000... But keep in mind that your camera will only be a tool for making photos.
I just got D90 3 month ago from the first time i used it i really in love with its, easy features, easy to reach with ur thumps and very light too for the picture quality is every impressive is can turn everyone to proffesional photographer.
nikon makes excellent cameras (actually in this day & age all of the companies do), this camera will be no exception. the d5000 will produce excellent image quality, as will nearly any other dslr you may choose on the market today. when you see a bad image, don't blame the camera, blame the photographer. i am an olympus owner but i have respect for all of the brands.
is this video quality clear taken on this camera? it says it has 4 Frames Per Second, as a beginner, it sounds kinda sketchy. Does 4 FPS turn out clear?
The D5000 seems to be equal to the D90, except the D90 features more and better options, for more professional photography. Good review, and fun to see a new nikon entering the market!
big differants to d90 is AF motor in body on 90 and better kit lens really nothing more hell the 5000 has more setting the 90 not less and bulds alittle cheap then 90
i started photography in 1985 summer, and it's funny to see that dslr's are coming close to that film slr's used to be/still are in terms of quality

Depend what you want it for.
If you want it mostly for still shots get the Nikon.
If you want it mostly for video get the Canon.
The Nikon stock lens is far superior to the Canon 500D stock lens plus the Nikon uses the same image sensor from the more expensive D90.
If you want more longer video go for the Canon which can record 18 mins in High Def and 24 mins in standard def.
The Nikon can only manage 5 mins as the imaging sensor gets too hot.

The Canon mid to budget range cameras whilst good, just don't get such good reviews for their stock lens quality in that price range.
The D5000 is good value and if I had been unable to afford the D90 which I bought, I would have gone for the D5000.
acorntechnique 2 years ago
@acorntechnique Actually the sensor doesnt get "too hot"
The actual reason the D90 has a 4 minute 59 second max video record time is because in certain countries (US included) HD Video cameras get taxed extra when imported from foreign countries (Japan) and to be concidered a HD camera, it has to be able to record for 5 minutes or more in HD. So Nikon put a limt on it to reduce cost.
Also Dslrs are all for taking still pictures. But really, if u mostly want video Get a red or something haha

for some reason i found the d90 easier to use even though the d5000 is suppose to be more simple and more user friendly...O_o maybe thats just me but idk... ill be getting a d90 pretty soon~
azn1221 2 years ago
You're righ the D90 seems damn good!
nice screen 640x480
and a true 4,5fps rafal mode.

Don't get the D90 Bud.
The D5000 has an air flow system that stop dust from destroying your camera.
The D90 does not.
Please do at least a few months worth of more of research you will find that the D5000 is worth it.
mangeese 2 years ago
meh~ but i still prefer the d90 over the d5000... i know that the d5000 is worth it but i still like the d90 over it... and its not like the d90s just going to get destroyed by dust...-_-
and not to sound like an ass or anything but i can get whut i want...
d90 is way better than the d5000 in my opinion though...

rafael145pl 2 years ago
then , when should i buy ?
chawcincao 2 years ago
nope. i dont know what you should choice but its not D5000
rafael145pl 2 years ago
Buy stuff with a genuine Warranty!
mangeese 2 years ago 3
is it good? Well to in all honesty! "YES"
And it rapes the D90 because the D90 FAILS to keep it self dust free.
The D5000 has a Air flow system that keeps that shit out!

I'm looking to gett my first DSLR,Im considering buying canon's rebel XSI but I've just found out about Nikon's D5000 what would be a better choice? I'll be taking all kinds of photo's but mostly macro, what do yall think? which camera produces shaper and better quality pictures?
blztank 2 years ago
The xsi is a bit older, and is more comparible to the d60, and between those two i hear the d60 is sharper and better with noise, so this d5000 will be much better, ive used a d60, and its was great, and this camera has nothing but improvements over the d60, so i think my advice would be the d5000... But keep in mind that your camera will only be a tool for making photos.

nikon makes excellent cameras (actually in this day & age all of the companies do), this camera will be no exception. the d5000 will produce excellent image quality, as will nearly any other dslr you may choose on the market today. when you see a bad image, don't blame the camera, blame the photographer. i am an olympus owner but i have respect for all of the brands.

Looks like Nikon maximizes the battery life by removing top LCD panel.

D5000 isnt successor od D90. It is successor of D60, so they didnt remove it, just didnt add it.

is this video quality clear taken on this camera? it says it has 4 Frames Per Second, as a beginner, it sounds kinda sketchy. Does 4 FPS turn out clear?
HoyFilipinoBoy 2 years ago
it records video at 24fps and takes pictures at 4fps
freaky767 2 years ago
ooo, thanks
HoyFilipinoBoy 2 years ago
The D5000 seems to be equal to the D90, except the D90 features more and better options, for more professional photography. Good review, and fun to see a new nikon entering the market!
bigblocke 2 years ago 2
big differants to d90 is AF motor in body on 90 and better kit lens really nothing more hell the 5000 has more setting the 90 not less and bulds alittle cheap then 90

"Child/Baby" mode? What does that do? Does it make them sit still while I try to capture the shots? Lol :P
