His posture is a bit 'slouchy'. Neil Peart sits like that too....it's really not good for your lower back and shoulders. I solved the problem for my own posture by buying a drum stool with the back rest attached. Seems to force you into a better position. Once your posture is right, and you're sitting up straight, you will be less tired after a rehearsal, and you'll reach everything on the kit easier.
What an awful director, Jcob Armen is a legend since he was a kid but if i may say something, he got a very bad posture when he plays and it comes from when he was a kid. He's a very good drummer though.
I have seen almost all youtube videos on him. I accept that he is a genius! most probably the fastest drummer in the world. But somehow, his drumming didn't seem unique to me. it seemed predictable( in my opinion).. i agree i cannot play what he played at 1/10th his speed, but somehow that ' wow ' factor seems missing. May be it is too early to comment.

TheNextPlug, you need to realize that even though he doesn't use all of the toms in this song, he probably uses them in other songs. It's just like how the bass player in this video probably only used the E and A strings. I wouldn't be so quick to criticize this guy. He knows exactly what he is doing and is a genius.

i think that part is deliberate. it's a complicated 32nd note\rest rhythm so it kinda sounds off beat, but i'm pretty sure he meant to play it that way.

Armenian Music Awards? . . ok . . After watching Jacob here and the one on Johnny Carson when he was 7, I have the same impression of him - he can play REALLY REALLY FAST, but there is little to no "groove" in what he plays. This is what seperates him from being one of the best in the world. Weckl has it, Buddy had it, Gadd, etc. It takes more than extremely fast hands and feet to be among the elite when it comes to the drumset. But I'm sure he got laid like a spade in school.
well i agree that he doesnt have any of the kind of groove that the greats had but at the same time, he is playing metal and that stuff is full of fast and syncopated rhythms. and i would agree that he could actually b better.
soloing seems to be about the only thing he does. in my opinion he still could be better and for some of the best drumming of today i would definitely look to mike portnoy. he and dream theatre=amazing music.

I have seen almost all youtube videos on him. I accept that he is a genius! most probably the fastest drummer in the world. But somehow, his drumming didn't seem unique to me. it seemed predictable( in my opinion).. i agree i cannot play what he played at 1/10th his speed, but somehow that ' wow ' factor seems missing. May be it is too early to comment.

TheNextPlug, you need to realize that even though he doesn't use all of the toms in this song, he probably uses them in other songs. It's just like how the bass player in this video probably only used the E and A strings. I wouldn't be so quick to criticize this guy. He knows exactly what he is doing and is a genius.

There's almost no such thing as too many toms. Armen just takes a more musical approach to his solos (more notes than rhythms).

Sorry man but you are wrong,Terry Bozzio,Grant Collins,Marco minneman, Mike Mangini etc, takes a more melodical stuff on their solos, with ostinatos, poly, and complex techniques etc, Jacob Armen it´s only playing fills here, only fast singles, singles fours and flams on any tom, he´s good but not much melodical stuff here...

i think that part is deliberate. it's a complicated 32nd note\rest rhythm so it kinda sounds off beat, but i'm pretty sure he meant to play it that way.

yeah sick he can play fast, but drums are made to BACK UP A BAND! not to be a solo instrument, like lars ulrich said, drums as a solo instrument are boring, only when they are used well with music that they are exciting, this kid is just some guy that was passed a pair of drum sticks when he was born and a 20 000 dollar drum kit, doesnt mean hes talented

Armenian Music Awards? . . ok . . After watching Jacob here and the one on Johnny Carson when he was 7, I have the same impression of him - he can play REALLY REALLY FAST, but there is little to no "groove" in what he plays. This is what seperates him from being one of the best in the world. Weckl has it, Buddy had it, Gadd, etc. It takes more than extremely fast hands and feet to be among the elite when it comes to the drumset. But I'm sure he got laid like a spade in school.

well i agree that he doesnt have any of the kind of groove that the greats had but at the same time, he is playing metal and that stuff is full of fast and syncopated rhythms. and i would agree that he could actually b better.
soloing seems to be about the only thing he does. in my opinion he still could be better and for some of the best drumming of today i would definitely look to mike portnoy. he and dream theatre=amazing music.
