@Genesis59 It was an accidental overdose because he was on antibiotics for a broken ankle and Gerald THOUGHT he had a bad cold (which was pneumonia). Gerald bought & took over the counter antihistamines that reacted badly with the prescribed antibiotics for the broken ankle.
Gerald heart stopped while he was asleep. :( This is why ALL OF US need to ASK A PHARMACIST BEFORE we use over the counter drugs when we are already on prescribed medicine.

@aimeedus The man had Pneumonia, have you ever had Pneumonia it hurt like a Heart Attacked, He probably thought he was dying and was actually trying to save his own life, You get Pneumonia and them write about it on top of an apology to Mr Levert Family!!!!

This is partly true. His death was ruled an ACCIDENTAL overdose of prescription and OTC drugs. He did have Pneumonia, was taking meds for anxiety and pain medication,due to an injury. You can say what you want. Don't take it out of context, Gerald was not a drug addict.

@aimeedu It was a prescription overdose. He was prescribed pain killers for back problems and some of them did not mix together and caused his death

@Genesis59 It was an accidental overdose because he was on antibiotics for a broken ankle and Gerald THOUGHT he had a bad cold (which was pneumonia). Gerald bought & took over the counter antihistamines that reacted badly with the prescribed antibiotics for the broken ankle.
Gerald heart stopped while he was asleep. :( This is why ALL OF US need to ASK A PHARMACIST BEFORE we use over the counter drugs when we are already on prescribed medicine.

@sharky1154 a combination of prescription narcotics pain relievers: Vicodin, Percocet and Darvocet along with anxiety medication, Xanax and over-the-counter drugs which triggered a heart attack. he also had pneumonia. missed bigdaddy a great deal.

Gerald Levert was a awesome talent with beautiful writing skill and composer. People this is the long version of this song and yes you can hear it hear first. Wow, all his music has something to do with somebody in my life with his words. All his ballads made the top 10. Wow, what a sad lost in the music industry. There will never be another talent him ever and writer that will come close. We will put Gerald Levert and Luther Vandross in the music hall of fame.
