Why? Because he actually gives you a hard fight without being stupidly overpowered. He has the best AI for a boss in any fighting game. Sure his moves have higher priority but he doesn't abuse anything or does any "unfair" stuff.

This is a very hard boss, but not unbeatable. But you need to know how the CPU plays. Akuma will counter your every move, what you need to do is stay put, walk back and forth, because if you do not attack, the CPU will hun you down. This is where you put your reactions to a test to counter Akumas moves. Mindlessly attacking him will not work.

Not too hard, if you pick Honda, sit in one place and wait (Jump fireballs if you take alot of chip, neutral jump). Counterattack with headbutts. You win

The only reason this boss is hard as fuck is

1.Certain pattern that is hard to find a flaw

2.Capcom for some reason programmed the CPU in Street fighter games are made for some to counter Your moves in very different ways... For example

You jump and the AI is going to do and almost lighting fast Shoryuken... When You are about to do certain inputs the AI is already doing something to counter... Making practicing in Street fighter almost impossible... If You have street fighter 4,Go check urself.

Shao Khan in my opinion is not that difficult at all, he is very easy to cheap out.. Akuma on the other hand, is not. You can't projectile spam Akuma's nasty ass, and he requires a specific pattern to beat him effectively, since you are going against two air fireballs, and a SRK that has ridiculous priority and damage.

A punish is when you hit your opponent during recovery frames because they did something unsafe, a counter is when you hit your opponent during one of their attacks and won because of better spacing, hitboxes, or invincibility. Akuma's SRK beat Psycho crusher because it has invincibility. An example of punishing psycho crusher would be to block it, then hit Bison as he passes thru you.

In fact, in more recent games, like SF4, doing DP to a blanka ball the game actually says "counter" on screen.
