@Shmeeky455 - You've never heard of Francis Monkman! Curved Air, and he was with the Classical Rock band SKY, 1979 - 1980! He now tours Germany playing Bachs music on their fine church organs! Trust me, he is GOOD !!!!!!
I've just had a bit of a revelatory moment... the ending theme to Think Again.. I loved this program, but haven't seen it since I was a kid, and I'm suddenly struck that this is where my love of electronic music and synths was born. And my love of science and technology.
Much-missed what a magic talent!! Now I've got children, and watching some moder day kids telly, it just pales by comparison. There's no-one like him on now. Sad.
God I remember this show from my youth, was too young to remember 'Think of a Number'. Particularly remember a scence where Johnny pretended to be Luigi Galvani, where he used frogs legs to demonstrate the way muscles worked using electrical signals. The theme music brings the memories back instantly, The Achievements of Man by Francis Monkman.
The first show I remember him doing was called "Cabbages and Kings" and it was brilliant as well. If only the BBC would release some of his stuff. He made everything seem so interesting... Even C & K really caught my interest. It was about history and at that age, I wasn't interested in history at all.
think Again should be shown on cable.or released on dvd.....the same as classic Blue Peter...Eureka...Take Hart...the list goes on...I want that channel:)
It's great, but it certainly bears more than a passing resemblance to Vangelis's "Pulstar". In fact, if you can find the "intro" version of the theme, the similarities are far more blatant (listen to the repetition of the "da-da-da-da!" bit.)
Still, as... ummm, homages go, it's good, and I liked the show, so who cares? :-)

Fab program and a really memorable theme tune.
To think we sat after school voluntarily , and LEARNED stuff from this.
I'm sure this was responsible for nurturing a large % of techy/science/geeks growing up in the 80's, myself included.

0:20 would it not have been great if he had dropped his strides to reveal a massive prince albert, resplendant against a huge mushroom shaped helmet

Could 'have' had. Jebus, that is painful.

Y'know, it's just not right to introduce Johnny Ball as 'Zoe Ball's father'... :(
