@bloopideebloop According my recollection, and confirmed by everything I found online, they are simply nonsense syllables. Sometimes an instrument was supposed to play it, sometimes they were substituted for inappropriate words. If anyone knows for a fact otherwise, feel free to comment.
@jimlapbap Fa la la was often used as a substitute for dirty, or inappropriate parts of stories. Similar to elaine's yadda yadda in that episode of Seinfeld.
@jimlapbap Oh, thank god. I enjoy this quite a bit, and have always assumed you used some sort of pitch-shifting software. But there was always that lingering fear that it was really just you.
As long as your podcast is not-for-profit, and you mention that it's a fan-created tribute, etc. Legally, since I don't have permission, you and I cannot use this for any money making.
Wonderful. It shows some real talent. I understand you did it for fun and irony, but slowly sung, perhaps with more voices, this would be really convincing. Thumbs up.
I want you to know. You are my new favorite person I've never met. Also, that my college a cappella group is using your arrangement of fireflies for a little arranging inspiration. Should it come to be (and if I remember) I'll post a video as a response to yours.
I didn't have all the music written out (simply the notes, and I did the lyrics by ear mostly), and it was about 1 A.M. when I finished recording the parts. I tried making a video, but I couldn't get through the soprano (i.e. the melody and easiest part) without sheet music.
There, that's my poor excuse. Hey, at least the video was posted today instead of next week.
Nice work! You kinda look like a blond Linnell in those pics.

Loving that quick little run from 1:17 to 1:20, especially in the bass voice!

I've got plans to go to a Ren faire-- and singing this amongst a bunch of other songs with such an arrangement would be spectacular.
Thanks for the inspiration, though whether I'll have the moxie to get a group to your level and to force'em to sing only TBMG is another story. 8)
Great work! Time to review your channel..!

Wonderful. I have a podcast for fans of TMBG called Theynow. Would you mind if I included this on the show?

I believe you mean "The spine sErfs alone" since it is a Renaissance Madrigal Style piece?

Glad I could inspire!(?) I didn't really "arrange the piece." I just vocalized all the instruments.

Though I might still prefer the TMBG version. This is nonetheless, an enjoyable listen. But I will not forgive the pictures! Video, Maestro!
