  • Wouldn't fly here.

  • Nice video

  • Holy shit!!!! That is the worst nail pattern I have ever saw!!!! And why in the hell did you start 6" off the rake? Your stupid and a hack!!!

  • Why not cut shingles in the valley with out lifting them so the water sheild dont get cut.big dummy.

  • Nice job not!Nails dont belong more than 1 inch from the ends of shingles or from keys will leak.49secs

  • Your nails are not even close to where they should be. At 48 seconds you put one directly in the rain line. Take the gun put it in the truck and learn how to roof first by hand nailing. Worst invention ever was the nailing gun. Makes guys who should be labourers think they are shinglers.

  • Hello, friends! Watch on my channel: ... RSTelhados how we build our roofs here in Brazil. Sincerely, Angelo!

  • @ROBERTJH1979

Le falla el juego de manos. Soy mas rapido que eso. y los clavos quedan en la ranura. JA.

    Watch those nails!!

  • Man, that's fast!!!

  • @TemplarRican

    Check 0:04 .

  • Time is money!

  • QUE MAL LA POSTURA DEL CLAVO

  • QUE MAL EL CLAVO

  • @toribio1968

    Seguro que si.

  • i really like it...

  • @TemplarRican

    I'm 42 years old.

    Do the math. ;^)

  • i don't speak english but it's true what you say man.

  • make sure u HIT the tar line eh... fast as any average shingler.. but fast dont matter if ur missing tar lines and not staying straight... be good first, fast second, all in all though.. great fuckin job man

  • very quick!!

  • Sepultura playing in the background hell yeah.

  • hand nailers ftw

  • This is so pro...

  • why the fuck am i watching guy roofing??

  • He is fast and pretty accurate. but I agree he needs to fix his pattern. Hey did anyone notice that the paper didnt reach? Not that it reallymatters if you lay your shingles right but what about his pattern?

  • Excellent job I must say!!Pretty smooth with the nail gun!!!

  • The real question is why are you racking your pattern? Try it the right way and you'll be a hell of alot faster...sweet roof though...good to see white boys working on a roof

  • for all the roofers bragging about who's fastest..... it's not rocket science...if you do it for awhile you'll be fast. (It's like listening to a bunch of slow kids brag about who's smartest:)

  • Very fast gunner..... use a stair-step pattern and never put your gun down and you'd be even faster.

  • That's amazin, better than some of my workers

  • i can go faster:-) average 3.50 sq a hour.

  • my boss by him self did 120 bundles in 3 hours no joke

  • @eirishboy so your telling me he did a 40 square roof by himself in 3 hours. haha what a joke

  • he had one guy laying out for him i am not one to lie. It was one straight side with nothing on it so it was easy

  • Impressive Speed. Impressive accuracy. Wouldn't work in South Texas. 5 1/2' Rake and 6 nails needed per shingle. But I'd love to see him come on down here and do it. Maybe teach my boys a thing or two about speed.

  • i love how when it comes to having something to say everyone is a roofer... i have been roofing for 14 years and even tho his nail placement isnt the best, its still impressive to be able lay em down like that. they wont fucking blow off because your nails are not on point.. swallow your pride and give this guy the adda boy he deserves..

  • @routeguy05 it will not blow off in first year but it will blow off later

  • stupid music.....................

  • 3 tab, no nail line, but nails still seem pretty darn close, props man,

  • Doin a fine job? Where are the nails lining up? You better check your eyes or that shingle wrapper!

    ROOTS BLOODY ROOTS!

  • union yes............who cant shingle?

  • Wow it is good to see three tab still out there. Half the roofers out there anymore dont even know how to roof 3 tab. Back in my day my best was 32 squares in 7 hours including laying paper. But as all things go so does ones back. Good job guys I'm glad all we do is commercial.

  • Theyre alot faster than me. Only 2 problems, I work above the shingles that i lay down so I don't edge the ones I just put down, its not critical but I work for a small business owned by a friend and plan to start my own so small things like that matter. Also I am very specific with nail placement, I nail where the shingles are double layered, you think if these guys nail too low they take the time to fix it? Good nail placement prevents blow-offs.

  • @SemperFidelis0300

Well said. Nail placement/depth is more critical than anything else. Also, squating down and laying shingles from above (when pitch allows) is the only way I've ever done it. In response to your question: you think if these guys nait TOO HIGH they take the time to shoot one in the proper spot? Follow up...How long do u suppose a laminated shingle lasts on one of these guys' roofs? Clearly their nails would never fall in the 5/8" PROPER nail area at that speed.

  • @rooferab I live in NJ, but many times I work by the shore so I use 6 nails, proper depth/placement and so far, no blow-offs or other problems. If they did a roof like that on the shore, it could definitely be a problem. The pitch on that roof is not steep at all, it is easier to work that way, but like you said, it is better to work from above to avoid edging the shingles.

  • is that an automatic nailer?

  • jus get a mexican . . .

  • that is a job for guy with a very high IQ. I could never do it all day long, day in and day out.

  • Bloody Roots!!!!

  • hes ok but not faster then mexicans.

  • not to bad but i will show you this summer just how fast and accurate a good roofer can be. You didn"t do to bad though. Wait till you shingle a dome, know thats awsome to roof!

  • I am 18 atm and i work part time roofing. I put metal sheets on, never seen this before

  • What shingles were used in this video and how many years of warranty does it have? Thanks!

  • is that a hitachi or makita?

I have hitachis MOD. NV 45 AB2 but mine looks a little bit bigger.

  • everything on the roof is a race

  • My name is Mike from LA Although there busizz4me.info

  • No tiene nada de expecial en ke Ciudad trabajan. Son malos muy malos rooferos

  • roofers are a different breed theres roofers that go 10 times fast then other guys and do a BETTER job roofers are sick!!!!

  • If you can't work fast, do it slowly but correctly !

  • jaja tus clavos no los pones bien,,,jejje no saves tejar jejjee,,

  • roofing sucks and i hate it

  • "ALL OF GOD'S MISFITS BECOME ROOFERS" ROOFING FOR LIFE CANADIAN STYLE!!!!!!!!

  • I say we're roofing every day

    Getting faster in every way

I'll take you to a place where we shall find our

    Roof bloody roof

    Roof bloody roof

    ...gotta Love Sepultura!

  • That was okay for a rookie if he has been laying out for more than 3 years than hes a turtle i mean i just started and lay out a year ago and lay out faster than him

  • Thats the fastest roofing I ever saw. Standing ovation!

  • I remember 20 years ago when I worked that hard... I'm working hard if I install a pack in less than 5 min lmfao

Moved to Australia a few years ago where the Shingles are new and the instal rate is $46 - $59 per Bundle cos nobody knows how to install, I'm one of 5 guy's in the country... Cha-ching

Glad to see Metal is stil the roofer's choice in Music

  • @Lionlady01 what are you looking at? his nails are not even close to high. your man must be a "handyman" and told you that.

  • Good tunes too!

  • I found this guy to do my roof and he was as quick as this guy on the video. Accidentally, he presses that gun trigger and nail went trough his lips to his nose and that freaking guy still didn’t stop working. I have to rush him to the hospital. I was like “what the hell is the matter with you, why you didn’t stop working”. he said “Oh I just wana finish that little area”. Crazy

  • That's fast work and the first guy is flyin'! Nice job! keep it up !

  • That's a good way to do it. We step our shingles up diagonally along the face which would probably be just as effective, Although with ours there is more cutting on the sides.

  • roof like this I would lay 5 sq in an hour easy.... 4 sq with cutting in...

  • real men use hammers and nails

  • I want you Wetbacks to be done this Roof in an hour now move it!!!!!!!!

  • 35 degree with 10 UV on sun

  • roots bloody roots

  • just flyin...is`nt that why your recording him wizard

  • bad ass man!

  • where can I buy that material to built up my roof in brazil?

  • Do electrostatic school locker painting. Summer starts and it's a mad rush. Love to see a crew that has their skill and production down to science in any trade.

Hell ya nice work boys! Go home and sleep off that grand or two you made today.

    Gotta love pure capitalism.

  • I have done roofing in the past but I rarely did 3 tab. I have never done it that fast. the only one I could go that fast was the double layered one. Nailing the the shingles is the easy part, the hard part is getting those damn singles on your back up the ladder but you probably already know that

  • @bangmeister you got it backwards

  • mad how thay do roofing over there looks much more easy to do then over ere in the uk

  • I own both a boss and a Tachi. They both work great if used right. The boss does seem a tad lighter and has preset nail depths that change with a dial. Great for preventing blow throughs, Especially when laying paper. Where as the Tachi has a more reliable gauge, the bosses is plastic, with pre-made increments. Both take a beating too.

  • yeah id love to have that guy do my roof -_-

  • Thanks for sharing this great info with us! I would also like to recommend one roof material provider... It's called

    TILE-MOLDS . com ! Give it a try!

  • Not bad, using a gauge is faster and straighter for 3 tab though.

  • Hey thats Fast, come work for US...:-) Nice job!

  • You guys are quick, make that cash bro

  • first of all you are probably the fastest shingler i have ever seen to bad your eyes are closed because the nails are supposed to be below the tar and above the keys.your a hack, butcher or what ever you want to call it.guys like you make guys like me look bad its about workman ship you scab

  • I'm 16 now and I've been doing roofing since I was about 11 or 12. it is THE best thing and its all Ive ever known, its just my favorite thing in the world to do. . me and my brother are now managing the busniess and we get between 4-5 houses a week, its great!

  • @Ty616AT I find that hard to believe. But if it is true, good for you. I did roofing for a while last 3 years. Going back in a week. I can't really say i love it though..

  • im 16 ive roofed for 3 years now, and i love it(and yes i have its a family buisness)

  • I won't even let anyone else use a bostich gun on my roofs. They skip nails, leave 'em high, and jam if you try to nail this fast. And that's when they're new! My oldest Hitachi spent a winter in a snow bank and still works perfectly LMAO

  • @NHsk8r74

Funny, we just chucked a Hitachi for doing the same thing you said the Boss does.

If you run mixed guns, you'll have to run 120psi for the Boss (the Hitachi couldn't handle that so you'd have to keep it lower for them).

And not only that, you have to consider the fasteners you're using. Are they cheap nails or good quality coils?

I only use Bostitch coils when possible (the absolute best on the market). They cost more, but they never jam any gun their in.

  • I CAN DO IT BETTER

  • Roofing is a Mans job, Goos Physical work, it helps me with my MMA training, ITs a Rush for me, 306 Much Respect. the Nail Gun is Hitachi, the Best, Bostich's to me are Heavy, Journeymen Roofers 25$/Hr anything Les is a RIP OFF

  • Hitachi......5.5lbs

    Bostitch....4.9lbs

    :^)

  • I'm 17 and i roofed on commercial buildings such as schools and stores and such last summer for a big roofing company. it was hard shit. We had alot of Hot Tar....

  • super super respect from holand

  • what brand gun is that? looks like it runs a lot better than my piece of shit Bostitch

  • hitachi, most reliable gun in the buis.... never skips nails, unless its really old and the feeder spring breaks, almost no high nails either,

  • Bostitch RN46 is the best gun period.

What are you using? The RN45AB (which is still a great strong gun, but too heavy and no where near as good as the RN46)?

In a ToolsOfTheTrade test, The Bostitch came out on top.

Lightest, best balanced, easiest/quickest to load and most consistent performer.

Just keep it clean, oil it daily and it's flawless.

Got madd respect for Hitachi, but they haven't produced a gun that could beat The BOSS yet!

  • nice skills

  • one thing I won't do is roofing. I hate asphalt shingles chopping my fingers.

  • takes a couple years to get ur fingers callust up, the body can adapt to anything

  • your back must hurt like hell!!! why not wear knee pads buddy??

  • hey !! en restent debout c'est bien moin dur pour le corps avec jenouillere ou non quand tu tavaille a genous tu doit te relever 500 fois par jour croit moi sa magane ben plus et tu est beaucoup plus lent

  • @throughtheblack because hes no pussy and he dont give two shits

  • @geraldbret You get an A+ for using proper english ;)

  • @geraldbret, knee pads are a pain in the ass, anyways. They loosen up too much, cut off circulation, and pinch the backs of your knees. They are not worth the hassle.

  • @itpduder dont feckin tell me i already know the only guy on my crew who wore them was a dumbass drunk who everyone hated and now i think hes a crackhead

  • @throughtheblack this is the best way to install shingles , u just get used to the pain on ur back, what i do i just change positions ,on my knees, standing up , or sitting., when you work all day on ur knees after 8 hrs. they will hurt like hell regarding of knee pads.

  • time is money

  • I do it for my self,60-80 an hr

  • dan, good money if you work like that all day..

  • someone ask'D is there Good Money in Roofing. Good labourer works hard does a little bit shingling 18$ an hour, Shingler that knows how to Shingle everything eaisly 30$ and hour. find a Good company. (Piece Work) is really awesome to get paid by

  • agreed, piece work is very luxurious

  • if any of you guys say this guy is slow, you're wrong! he's pretty damn fast i would have to say and he's doing a fine job...don't be jealous...seriously

  • trust me my boss would still blow him out of the water just saying he is fast but there are way faster guys

  • that is some crappy music

  • I've staggered shingles 6 inches for years and haven't had any problems. We don't run columns like hes doing in the video. Everyone has a gun and we shingle across. We prefer to be more accurate with our nailing as it's more important to get them in the right spot oppose to saving a little time. I don't understand why they are leaving an open valley. I thought everyone got away from that and overlap one side over the other.

  • @SmartyArt1 Water runs down an exposed metal valley faster. Also, on a closed valley, you get shingle wear and it's no too pretty when the rest of the roof looks in mint shape. On 14/12 roofs, water doesn't wear a closed valley as much and some like to showcase their shingles, so they close it in.

  • Straight lines dont really matter nowdays. and 4 Nails per shingle is Correct unless you are doing a Steep roof. and i noticed all these roofing videos they only work when its cludy or what? haha. Real workers work in like +30. Good money in roofing but it tough work

  • well, when you burn up in the sun from doing real work, you'll understand and change your attitude. many roofers end up in the hospital every year, because they thought they too were tough guys. the sun and heat will beat you every time.

  • That's true phuckintubers. I do iron roofing here in South Australia and when it reaches 40-45 degrees we pack up at lunch time. It's better to be sensible and go home early so that you're fresh for the next mornings work.

  • racking 3 tabs is the best 30-36 of the rake

  • is there good money in Roofing. ?

  • your wrong this is the best way to do a roof besides the fact that hes bent over will put alot of stress on your back he should be kneeled over on the side that the shingles are already place... YOU ONLY NEED 4 NAILS PER SHINGLE if you put six your a freaking idiot and your just gonna piss off the next roofers who are going to rip and re-lay the roof next time.

  • how will you piss off future roofers? have you ever stripped a roof off? old shingles fall apart, the nails don't even matter anymore. now staples their a problem.

  • roofing sucks, doin it right now for like ten bucks an hour, bout to quit, bullshit job.

  • nice shooting

  • Buddy is doing fine. If your not rough lifting tabs yer good and pound down yer nails left up. Running chalk lines is always best. Use knee pads for grip and stability for your body.A coil will do four bundles. Nails should be placed above the key way with in a loonie sized location. When racking you leave the fourth or sixth nail out for the next run. Stepping shingles is is for looks. No speed difference it's bundel place ment that will slow you down. Skate board shoes will speed you up too.

  • Ontario, I six nail full laminates and some times three tab if I'm facing direct west. I can lay 10 bundels an hour. I was taught quality over speed and speed will come 8 yrs in shingling can hand bank about as fast as a gun 65 nails in 60 seconds.

  • Sepultura!!!!!!

  • 3 tab shingles only need 4 nails per shingle laminates need the 5-6 per shingle that guy moves fast but ive worked with alot faster

  • if nailed correctly 5 nails will suffice according to manufacture recommendations. the only time there is a need for 6 nails is if you are installing a 50 yr shingle

  • you idiot a designer shingle allways shoud have 6 nails

  • Agreed lol, not to mention u know when ur fast when u can run the ends in also in a decent time. This is the easy part esp when u have someone layin the shingle out ahead of time for u.

  • uh guys let me explain that nails in the keys will not work and just to let yall know i put on 5-6 sq per hour and i wouldnt be afraid to let the inspector lift up each individual shingle and check the nails

  • I challenge u, I lay two bundles in 5 mins strait!!

  • YOU DO NOT, YOU FUCKER

  • man, i just started a roof in niagara falls, and i thought i could do it without planks, until the rain came and i fell right on my sorry ass

  • Shingler's trick, use a couch cushion! (take the cover off, foam only) They'll hold you to the roof like super glue.

  • shinglers basic tools use knee pads aka money makers you will get a riase faster 2 lol jk

  • Knee pads are OK but the cushion is much better, especially on hot days. No shingle marking and it's easier on your legs/back. I'm a "older" roofer (40+) so it works best for me. Knee pads and mouth wash are for the wife :D JK of course; or am I? LOL

  • what stops that stuff from flaping in the wind ?

    is it rubber ?

    Gaz. Aussie metal roofer

  • There's a tar strip in the middle of the shingle that seals the tabs to each other. Of course in real high wind (100KM/h +) the tabs will lift unless secured by a bead of caulking. In high wind areas, most shinglers will go to 6 nails/shingle plus caulking on the tabs.

  • we see bad winters thats it out here, in the maritimes every tab has to be tared down because of the salt content in the air and the high winds that come from the ocean. same as most of B.C. but they dont tar there tabs, they mostly install cedar or interlocking shingles.

  • plus, buddy is cutting his shingles right on the new valley

  • As any roofer would know, he's slightly lifting up the blade as he cuts. No undercutting going on.

  • yeah you're right, i guess those blades are kinda meant for that ehh....my bad

  • Shit it looks good to me,only thing u gotta worry about with a gun is the depth of the nail.gotta make sure its not sunk in ....Great job.....

  • fuck, you guys are fast as. im a roofer from newzealand, we install mainly copper or zinc roofs, but never as fast as this.

    kia ora,work safly.

  • hes fast

  • wooooooooooow that was amazing and looks easy to me I thought is very difficult to install roofing, hopefully my husband will do it by himself, instead of paying money for that :(

  • 10-1 your husband takes a header. I used to do this shit part-time about 12 years ago and now I wouldn't get up there for any amount of money. Please hire a pro.

  • pay money for it! trust me it will save you money in the long run. there is alot more to it then what was shown on this video, he made it look easy because he has a bit of experience and maybe even pride for what he does, your husband does not do it every day or maybe never at all and its a VERY physically demanding job that is not recommended for NON PROFFESSIONALS. dont be cheap and do not go with the cheapest quote for you will get a cheap product. would you pour your foundation for your home

  • Quit talking like roofing is fn brain surgery curtiff.I see you on alot of roofing vids commenting on everyones work like your the god of roofing.sounds like most posers talkin shit putting on 10 more bundles a day after each beer they drink.Bet you took the short bus to school chump.

  • yeah meat head i comment on the good & hard work each one endures, so if you got a problem with i have to say & love then hoop your forehead pal. by the way i dont drink any more & i wlked to school unlike you getting picked up by the handy bus. roofing is not brain surgery, i dont have a phd , lol. but it takes common sense something you more than likely displaced as the ground roofer you probably are. by the way im not god but thanks for the comment, its mr roofer to you goof!!

  • Yea I like to keep about 12 guys tearing off in front of me so I got something to shingle to . :P

Hey I can sweep 100 nails all at once to! lol

Funny things is u said he had 3 guys tearing off in front of him. SO that means that he can't be that fast.

That guy must be rich. He could shingle 50 houses a week easily then. I bet he's the only roofing company in town.

  • no i'm seriouse somebody told me n i did nt believe him till i went to work with him n i watched him how quick he was doing it 3 ppl riping off the old shingles n himself alone shingling i dont know where he is i hope one day i'll go to work with him again n record a video of him to prove it to you guys

  • hopefully because i would have to see it to believe it, i know a lot of fast shinglers but that is unheard of bud! he would be rich after shingling piece rate for a year.

can he keep that speed doing the shit work ? valleys, dormers, hips, ridges, steps, skylights & can he torch down a roll a minute too? whats his name and where is he from? ill pay him a $1000 AN HOUR if he does 5 roofs a day for me, shit ill even have them stripped & preped for him with 5 star escorts 7 days a week, not kiding.

  • cool

  • yall be arguing whos faster, and then when people see how fast the nails are placed bad and stuff , thers always bad comments , saw ur comment before at the team sport thing, and i defintily agree with you, i love roofing, but when i get a shitty strip i get realy pissed off and dont feel like doing shit, i need to change my attitude and get shit done

  • thats it brother just get the f*** in and get the f*** out, i hate crappy rips but with a good TEAM the day should end well and no one goes home over tired & wanting to do it again the next day not because you have to but because your on a team who loves there CAREER & the over all sport of it, but all must remember to have fun at the same time it helps pass the days, weeks & months. keep it real cause every one looks up to a roofer!

  • SEPULTURA!!!! roofs!!!bloody roofs!!!!

  • this is not really fast i know a guy he does 1 bundle of shingle in 1 min n no one gives him shingle

  • so he clocks out at 60 bundles an hour!!!????

this sounds a little fishy if you ask me.

the most i have ever put on is 133 in one 13 hr day & clocked out another day at 45 in 90 minutes, i was on cloud nine too!

not saying its not possible but saying its humanly possible. 10 minutes feels like a minute on the roof maybe thats it!

  • in the uk we nail proppa slates nd tiles on

  • Yea C it takes him 1 sec. to grab shingle 1 sec and 2 nails are down and 1 more second and the other nail is down.

Cuz mathamatically he does a shingle every 3 seconds. But when he reloads his gun he's already behind on that speed. Since a coil only lasts for so long. Which means he goes threw a box of coils and hour. And I think his shingles magically jump from the pile and open themselves also. They call him the magic man.

  • I C one thing that would help you out. (up to u)

After you grab a shingle you always step back with your left foot. I always keep my right one a tad farther down so I don't have to keep moving my feet to line them up.

I like that people make these kind of video's also. I just bought a camcorder but I'm not sure If the wife would like it if I took it to work and b. I don't think the bosses would think I was being to professional. But side jobs would work.

  • Agreed, we are underpaid. If u can sell urself as a professional and compare urself to guys like this it should easier to get paid accordingly. My biggest seller is the fact that i hand nail, i shingle straight and all nails go in with 100% quality and accuracy.

  • hand nailing is good, i like to hand bang im good for 40- 50 a day, but now i have a bad elbow from hand banging in the union for 5 years. quality remains the same if your good at your job, i have seen just as many f@$% ups with hand bangers as with the gun. dont player hate, when people talk down about roofers it means your not a team player. we are all apart of the same brother hood.

  • p.s i am the one who applied 133 bundles over a ten hour day in mid july from 7am to 8 pm getting paid $13/ bundle on new for local 27 in mississauga on a comfort suites hotel.

i take pride in every aspect of roofing including speed. Wayne Gretzky is the greatest because he out performed his competition with precision quality as a team player. my dream is to be the wayne gretzky of roofing.

i have worked all across ontario for some of the best companies and now located in ottawa valley

    s.power

  • theres more cash out west man.

  • but the cost of living is rediculous!

roofers should be paid more every where. where under paid if you think how important we are.

  • Um, im sorry but 133 bundles in 10 hour day is nothing. Ive seen more. The guy in the video would do laps around you.

  • you know what, there are a lot of idiots who give roofers a bad name. not to sound like i am the best but there is not one thing i dont know about roofing, all roofing! epdm, b.u.r, cedar, slate, clay, decra, 2 ply m.b. locked flashing what ever, i love roofing, i just wish people would love roofing as much as i do. my true opinion about shingling is that its more of a team sport than a any thing else. remember EVERY ONE LOOKS UP TO A ROOFER!

a roofer should never have to go back after its done
