Farm pigs are big lean pigs 700-1200 lbs and pot bellied pigs short legged 70-200 lbs. Totally different breed ..so very different in many ways. click onto my heartsonnoses and see all my movies

Also very important ..feeding less dose not make you small. It makes you skinny and starving

I know, I didn't mean that, I just wanted to know. Why? Because the farmers give the pigs a special feed in order to make them fat. I want to keep it as my friend, not to eat it.

First they feed them 'grower' so they grow big and fast. then they feed "finisher' so they  get lean and meaty(ugh) then they kill them at 5 monthes old. Of course the mother gets to live in a cage she can'tt turn around in, or lay down in with out her legs being in the next cage.

its so nice . actually a lot of animals like chicken tastes great . but pork is the most delicious of all.

my neighbours bought one and didnt let him have a big pen so he always escaped into our yard then they got bored with him and gave him to the butchers the poor thing he was really cute too. :(

Thank you so much for saying , some tiems it is really hard . Imean the work is brutal but nothign compares tolossing them. I miss him, he was such a character.  He loved to close doors, he would go down to my bedroom and clsoe the door lol.

Barney sure loved his ice cream as do all the pigs here at the Sanctuary. My Mom who is 85 years old will come down with a bucket of ice cream in the summer and go around and spoon feed every pig here. Every pig deserves a taste sensation!!! With 1500 taste buds they really know how to enjoy there food.

Pigs are just so smart, it's a shame how we treat most of them. I love bacon as much as the next guy, but isn't there a better way than those god-awful commercial pig farms?

don't eat bacon, don't buy bacon. start with yourself. and if you care about what's going on with factory farms, complain, write letters, boycott. trust me, it all makes a difference. multiply your effort by that of millions of other people who care and factory farms will be closing faster than a piggy can say 'oink!'

This is the reason why I am a PROUD VEGETARIAN! I eat delicious pasta, tofu, fruit, vegetables, soups, fish, I have lost 65 pounds so far and my cholesterol is GONE!

AND I am not part of animal cruelty by not being a consumer of meat! I feel so good :D

while i admire your efforts, i must correct you: You are not a vegetarian if you eat fish. You are a pescaterian. I ate fish for a while too, after cutting out other meats. But one day I realized how foolish of me it was to call myself an animal lover and yet still consume a living being. It clicked instantly and I've been a vegan since. It's been incredible. Fishies are much smarter than most people give them credit for.
