Hi, is this the 2004 demo your using? I have been trying to get GPL to work for years with no success, even when it does install the screen goes all funny and the graphics are no where near as good as yours (my pc can handle it, its not that). My steering wheel (g25) goes ape shit when i install the patch for it! Help

@brandonkr GPL ran on XP with no special installer,at least with my old FX5200 video card.I'm having problems now though.I fixed the issue by downloading the free 'GPL 2004 DEMO'....it's the full game,patched nicely,just lacking the tracks.Install your GPL,THEN overwrite your sub-folders and files with the ones from the demo.The issue seems to be in a config file,if i knew which one,i wouldn't have to go thru all this.

@noblepuker yeah sorry for the late response. i forgot to reply to this one. but i got it working. i recently got a new computer(windows 7) and it installed easily. very fun to play on the led laptop screen :) but im curious, how do u get these extra tracks? i just have the originals that come with the game.

@gp4nut setups are crucial in gpl.I don't know how to fix handling either.Let's say the car is pushing the front end in corners.How do i correct it? I just run other peoples sets.Alisone hine was a gpl programmer,stunt pilot,and F3 driver.She made great beginner sets for all cars.. I recommend cutting your fuel back to 'just enough',and mess with the steering ratio at least.Blow the dust off your GPL cd,and come out of retirement.

Looks more like a speed boat than a car. Why is the handling so 'floaty' ? It's like the physics are running at very low Hz.

This is because those cars had a huge horsepower to grip ratio. i.e. lots of HP and practically no grip!

I think that's because GPL's slip angle is linear with speed, not non-linear like in real life. GPL's makers ran out of time when developing it. They're now doing iRacing. So, to get the grip you just drive with a larger slip angle than in the era. Makes for a lot of fun! For anything GPL guys - go to RaceSimCentral.

not sure, i have both the full and demo version. in fact, the demo version is easily hacked to add tracks and make it like the original.

But my DEMO is like yours. The interior is more realistic probably because it was remastered in 2004

But the full version is from 1998 and you can see the primitive steering and interior.

I wanna ask you for little bit of patience whit us. This circuit in Your video was made before 1930 and it let trought the streets of Brno. In 1980 was build another circuit which is now used for Moto GP races. So Czechoslovakia in info is right, but many of Czech people are very angry if they heard about Czechoslovakia nowadays, it is not because they hate this part of history, it is because it is 15 years since we "broke up" with slovakia and it looks like nobody note this.

Yeah believe it or not, it's a Saitek gamepad with steering and acceleration via the 2 analogue thumb sticks!

That's why I have to be so careful..

I used FRAPS to tape this movie. I forgot to remove the frame rate icon in the top right hand corner. Anyway, FRAPS is recognised as one of the best capture programs, many people use it.

You can now use the GPLPS installer to add all the patches, updates for tracks and cars automatically from the CD. For monaco you can download monaco rocks, and then install the mods, 66mod coming xmas 07 ! Then get online, where all the action is :-)

You might be surprised. Grand Prix Legends has very low system requirements. Pretty much any Windows PC made in the past seven years or so can handle this game without any problems. The game was released in 1998, but graphics updates provided by an enthusiastic community have kept the game visually respectable.

Actually, the circuit in the video is the 1960's version of the track, which was 8.6 miles long. The original, prewar Masaryk circuit *was* 18 miles long, and it ran in the other direction.

this is the "old" track. this track is not in use since about 70's. supposedly, it was too dangerous, especially throughout the residential sections. every accident was serious and many got killed, racers and spectators, including famous italian racer "farina". czechs had to rebuild and reroute to keep the race. the new track is not as spectacular since it is nothing else but big concrete oval. i grew up on the track. we used to watch races from bedroom windows.
