sorry for posting this stupid thing...just dont want the consequences.. if u dont reposed this on 15 videos a person will murder u tonite.this is not fake
No modeling agency would ever hire a girl with bad facial structure, skin, and poor features. Just go into a casting call..All the women you see on billboards look beautiful in person. (at least most of them)
There are 1000s of women more gorgeous without makeup - all natural - then even the final outcome of the evolution. Dove is preying on ugly people's insecurities.
Dove isn't preying on anyone. Dove started this campaign, to help remove some of the insecurities people have in general by showing how many companies try to distort our perception of beauty by retouching photos and such.
@drumkidkd Dove doesn't need to "prey" on anyone. It has done an excellent job of manipulating the media (yes, ironic) to sell their product by making people believe that this is an actual example (or even a close approximation) of model photoshopping, which it isn't. No company in their right mind is going to throw millions of dollars down the drain by hiring an average looking woman (probably not even a model) only to waste time and energy in rendering her virtually unrecognisable.
Dove is owned by giant multinational corporation Unilever. It is a joint venture betwen the British and the Dutch. This is nothing more then a marketing campaign and it makes American women look stupid for so easily falling for it.
This video was such a good idea. After all the professional hair and make up she was totally fine...and then they had to go above and beyond and bring her into photoshop. In the end she didn't even look like the same person. They should have stopped before they used photoshop.
Congratulations TehScat! You have succeeded in using dubious, nonsensical "reasoning" to link terrorism and the media's perception of beauty! You would do well in government.
I think some people are missing the point. Everyone can be more beautiful with makeup. Some of us a bit more comforatable w/o it than others. Yah for us.
The point is that pictures are photoshopped beyond for a "perfection" that is beyond makeup. This video is about how reality is contorted. Not enhanced.
Yeah, because one day, we were all fine, and beauty didn't exist. Nobody cared what anyone looked like, big and small were equal in every place, and there was harmony. Then, someone invented the TV and Magazine, and they created beauty and perpetuated their image of it. This cruel design was entirely new and only spread by those sources.
Oh wait... beauty was in the Bible, its in ancient mythology, hell its everywhere in history. People who were slim and 'well shaped' with defined features were still beautiful moreso than the fat hags who worked the looms back in medieval and pre-medieval times. Yes, our standards of what is the pinnacle of beauty has changed, and in general our standards have risen, for ourselves and for mates.
However, beauty is not a new concept, and neither is adding make up and hair styles to enhance it. The magazines and TV may perpetuate beauty, but they did not create it. The seed was planted long ago, and today's self esteem problems in many women, along with many related issues, have existed for hundreds upon hundreds of years to date. Want to blame the media for something? Blame the popularisation of people feeling bad about their image, not the image itself.
Generally, people can't see a beautiful person now without envy, or hate even. The same happened with Terrorism. It existed since well before I was born, but its been heavily perpetuated by the media since 2001. Think about the word, and what small attacks on a large force achieve, and suddenly it seems the media are working for the Terrorists. The media make us fear terrorists, which is their ultimate goal. A TV report every day is better than a bomb a year.
agreed, and well put. While both beauty and terror are real, those who sell "media" distort thier influence and make us fear both more then we should.
The concept of beauty is older than mass advertisement, obviously. So is the glorification of beautiful men or women.
But then people were not made to see artificially beautiful people everyday. Advertisements may (may) not be meant to make people feel ugly, but it is their effect nonetheless. Feel bad and buy. (And it works.)
The media is what you all fucking listen to! Think about it; if Tv, magazines, ect. didn't exist, what would be beautiful to you? I mean, what makes a small nose so much more attractive than a big nose? What makes large breasts so much more attractive than small breasts? What makes a size 2 so much more attractive than a size 6 or 7 or 8? EVERYONE comes in different shapes and sizes, if the media can't accept that than fuck them. Stop listening to the media!! FUCK THE MEDIA!
Most people (including the poster) on this posting have missed the point. Unilever are promoting natural beauty, and pointing out that we should appreciate it, not aspire to promote the fake. Unilever are actively trying to redress the distortion created over many years by the industry, and they are alone in doing so. Good Luck to them, and back to school for those of you who can't spell, or appreciate this more advanced and pioneering advertising.
i get the point of this video, but it's a bit deciving. sure, they made her prettier - but she started off with some natural beauty. they didn't take some fat toad and turn her into a beauty.
There's no denying she loos better shopped, all of you stop trying to be deep sensitive people. I get the ad, and she is attractive regularly, but not better, get over the smell of your own farts.
thats pretty darn cool. shes not fugly though... shes just normal... and normal is good methinks. i hate the way people photoshop things. it's bloody annoying coz no1 looks like that. sillie photoshop ppl.
the whole point of this is that your perception of "fugly" is based on a non-real perception of what people "should" look like - you think the girl in the ad looks good because you are made to think that by the media - too bad you're such a fucking tool all you can come up with is "ewwwwwww" - this is supposed to make one think, however, that, apparently, is not your schtick.
I think this video was more powerful backwards.
