Hate to say it, but, I really don't think that's a funnel cloud. It has some slight rotation, but, it is not well formed, I agree with the other comment that this is a wall cloud.
actualy looking at this, the rotation has a pretty good speed, but this one looks a bit fragmented though and might progress to a better stage, now a tornato is normaly very compressed so yer it could progress but its rare for these types to
I remember from Howard Bluestein's storm chase that this wall cloud produced a violent tornado. I don't remember where, but it might have been associated with the Andover, KS killer F-5 tornado.
definetly a wall cloud. It is what's known as a rotating wall cloud. A tornado could have spawned from this, but I noticed it started dissipating some in the end, which means the storms inflow was being weakened, causing it to have a weaker updraft in the precipitation free zone. Conditions have to be nearly perfect for these storms to drop a tornado. Over 50% of wall clouds never produce a tornado. But if stormchasers see one, they will be flocking to it.1 chaser saw 3 wall clouds at one time.
you are correct that a wall cloud is different from a tornado. The cloud in this video is NOT a tornado. It is in fact a wall cloud. There is no funnel, and there is no tornado. It is a lowering of the base of the mesocyclone, and while it may be rotating, it is NOT A funnel cloud and it is NOT a tornado.
I am an advanced spotter and have been for over ten years. There is no point in arguing here. There is no funnel cloud depicted in the video.
im not gunna argue and thanks for letting me know a little bit more about this stuff cuz i had 2 due a report on tornadoes and stuff like that so thanks for letting me know about this stuff i luv 2 learn about tornadoes and stuff
No problem. Some of the cloud fragments may look like funnel clouds but an actual funnel would generally appear in the very middle of this lowering, and would extend much farther, even if not touching down, than the base of the wall cloud.
I don't mean to question your knowledge but the Manchester, SD F4 looked somewhat like this when it lowered. Then again, that thing was half a mile wide.
The rotation for tornadic activity depends on where you are Northern Hemishpere Counter-Clockwise
Southern Clockwise.
That is a funnel spinning Counter Clockwise. You cant see it in the vid But rewind all the way then go to the end while grabbing the dot thing and you can see it.
its a slowly revolving cloud that could possibly turn into a tornado at some point. usually, when you hear tornado warnings from the national weather service, they will say "a funnel cloud has been reported at (such and such time) on (such and such street)."
CommanderLightning... I'm the head of the KGB.... You read very much fantasy and it has affected to you a head... It is very a pity... and could work the cook...

i saw one one of those in northeast britain wher i live during a storm about a week ago, wasnt as big as that though. it got half way to the ground then it died out. i was like D: thank god for that lol.
Funnel Cloud is a tornado before it touches the ground so till then its called a funnel cloud. Not sure what to call this looks like a rotating wall cloud tryingto spawn a tornado but maybe it stalled.
i believe that is a funnel cloud. you can see it rotating, but the big rotation is up in the higher clouds. it spins faster near the very tip, on the ground. it could have picked up after the video ended .. or just gone away? lol
I heard if it looks like it is stationary then you have to run and take cover cuz its coming right toward you. It should be moving. If doesn't look like moving then its approaching.
Also funnel clouds ocure many times, just above the ground or high in the air. Mostly they are very hard to spot and only somtimes under perfect conditions they will touch the ground.

In the beginning of the video, the axis that the funnel is spinning on is kind of horizontally situated.
If it would turn a little more vertical, it could drop fully to the ground.
