This bike is oil injected, not mixed. Unless you specifically modified it for premix instead of oil injection. And it should be common knowlege that when you engine break a 2 stroke, you hit the back break enough to make the rpm go down faster than it would regularly with no breaking. silly people
Well, it's obvious that you never tore down a 2 stroke engine!!
When the gas & oil mixture enters the enging, PART of the oil goes to the lower end (crank area) and acculates there and lubricates the crank.
If you were to rebuild a 2 stroke engine where the ENTIRE engine is rebuilt and there is NO OIL in there whatsoever, you are to add a few oz. of oil to the lower end.
Umm, a note to all 2 stroke owners. Do not let chassey dyno clowns run your bikes the way this one is! Never ever ever wind one down with the throttle shut!! Your fuel suply is your oil supply! You shut the throttles and you cut the oil off.
True, (although I don't think it is very risky unless you're already jetted too lean) but not if you have an oil pump that it pumping oil continously as long as the crank is spinning.
I don't know if this particular RD still have the pump though, some (including me) take it away and run premix. =)
Hey I just noticed towards the end of the video, I know which bike this is. It now has a big bore top end for Yamaha Banshee. (which fits just as good on a 350 YPVS engine) I can't see why he would use the original oil pump along with that stuff unless he is confident enough to trust a custom oil pump setting. =)
However, there was also a time where he used the original engine, (non YPVS) so this video may have been taken at that time. I can't see enough of the bike to tell..
@TheDafc there is, however, the lube level is still tied to throttle position because you need air flow through the engine to distribute the oil. Close the throttle and your lubrication stops. Not to mention engine braking on a two stroke always means exaughst gasses entering the crank case. This can very quickly turn the tiny amount of lubricant in a two stroke into useless tar and carbon.
RD350 LCs were easy to tune for a big power increase. After getting some inside info from a proddy racer I set about raising my exhaust ports, gas flowing all the ports, skimming the head and cutting away the obstructions on the pistons. I can still remember the effect on my first test ride. The first thing you noticed was that the clutch slipped due to the large increase in power.
Yamaha RD 350 with Suzuki RGV running gear USD Front & Bannana Rear ..... also fitted with banshee gear ..... 421 barrells & head ?? I think thats whats on this beauty :-)

Sounds like an idea born of shear stupidity. The pumped system the rd engines use is far better than mixing. Were you born retarded?

use good enough oil you will be safe

@Polybun You are INCORRECT Sir!!!! You can "wind one down" by shutting off the throttle. There is oil in the crank case!!

i will definately NOT let some dyno freak do engine breaking on my 2stroke like how this guy does

@Polybun DUH?!!?! there is something autolube?

thats exactly what my dad did to his 350 lc, along with new exhausts it dyno'd at about 76hp

i got 68 hp on the weel on my rd but it68 mm in bore and 400cc rods
klenisno1 3 years ago
yeah and everyone remember thats 68 ho at the rear wheel! Yamaha posted specs are only at the crank. sounds like pure heaven this.

That things awesome! mines a 74 and its stock 39 Hp. so your 68hp must haul really good
