The new test is way better, you only get one maneuver and a 15 minute long independant drive exercise, it could either be follow a preset of directions given to you by the examiner, or follow road signs for a particular place, I had to follow signs for Wakefield and then Huddersfield. The Show Me, Tell Me part is intimidating to some but if you revise the questions and answers you should be fine. The test now lasts 38 minutes. The chance of the emergency stop procedure is 50/50. When I failed I did not get any feedback, I was told why I had one major fail, That was it. Same when i passed, very little feedback was given.

@jord8609 well i failed the old one and passed the new one aha, but it all depends on who you get. technically its and easier test as you only have to do one maneuver which is probably the most nerve racking part of a test. and the 10 minute independent is pretty easy, just drive normally and confidently and follow the signs :)

my instructor said that since the new test came out the examiners have been marking harder, giving minors when maybe they dont have to

I passed my test yesterday! 2 points!. advice would be just to not worry, stay calm and carry on through mistakes, your allowed 12-15 anyway. i had my instructor sit with me in the back of the car but each to their own on that one. all round, not as bad as i thought, keep telling yourself you can do it. Yes, it happens to everyone taking the UK driving test. If you can't read a numberplate from 20 meters away correctly, then the test is aborted.

They then ask you two random questions about the car, such as how to check oil levels, etc. If you get one or both of them incorrect, then you get a minor fault. You are allowed 15 minor faults in a driving test, any more than that and it's a fail.

If you get a serious or dangerous driving fault it's automatically a fail.

I passed my test today, first time! It went very smoothly overall, just a few minor faults for mirror checks and hesitation.

I was very nervous before the test but listening to music and doing breathing exercises really helped. I also advise that you take a bottle of water with you because when you're nervous you can get really thirsty!

My examiner was a top bloke though and make the whole thing seem like a normal lesson.

Don't put in for the test until you know you are ready, that's my advice.
