Are you using steel or fibre/wooden/cactus needles? I think the fibres do almost no damage to the 1940s-50s soft shellac.

wow this is how I remember hearing this played as a boy at my grandmothers as a kid( no I am not that old to remember the origional I am 34 now) she had one of these and used to play it for me telling me of being related to him but in those days this stuff sounded old and boreing I thought (at the time not now)it was just for old people (not my feelings now)I wish I would have took the time to listen more to her in those days she is now gone as is the record player

That's a nice Victrola console you have there. I love the reproducer on it. The colorful Victrola insignia on the inside of the wooden cover is beautiful too. The record itself looks like a 1950's pressing. I have Elvis Presley 78 records that look like that. The Glenn Miller 'In The Mood' records I have are the older releases of the record that say 'Bluebird' on them. Thanks for sharing the video. Very cool.
