Two words: market share! Noboby will make games for the zune it has 3% of the market. And if they want more than 3% they need apps. But they don't plan to release any dev kit for developpers to make apps... So they're fucked... Again

the zune HD looks O.K. but this long after the release of the iphone, the zune should do everything the itouch can, and more. Currently the only things the zune HD has going for it are the smaller size and if the nvidia tegra is actualy powering it, graphics power. And widescreen. But its still behind the itouch in many ways- there is. There is no zune marketplace, no 3rd party game support, no email, no maps, no out of browser youtube, no callendar, no stocks, weather, notes, no calculator etc

and of course, no MASSIVE 3rd party app support. Also, Ironically, the zune "HD" screen is 6% smaller and has 15% less resolution. (480x272 vs 480x320)

And the interface is kind of a joke at this point. Essentially all it is is the same interface used on every zune device back to the zune 30, with some extra buttons added here and there. Why make the main menue a scrolling list, when the device has a touch screen?? Makes no sense.

i meant zune marketplace as in the one you get with the zune software, not the stripped down crap one on the device

the itunes store for the iphone/ ipod touch isn't stripped bare- you can download videos, podcasts, everything right from the device

The Zune HD looks pretty good but we still have to wait for the iPod Touch 3rd Gen and even the PSP-GO! to see what those two products are going to offer us in terms of hardware, features and all-round usability with all types of digital media.

I believe that the exclusivity for the iPhone has actually helped apple because if everybody have it then it wouldn't be able to sustain they hype it has for so long. Think of all the phones you've had before...they don't stay hot for long and the iPhone has already had a long run. If Microsoft really wants to swoop in and steal the spotlight then they need drive right into a Zune+Phone and wreck the iPhone standard; but it has to be done right...no exceptions.

I have a Zune 80 and What the Zune HD really needs is 2 things. A couple hundred gigs of starage capacity (HD takes a lot of space) and get the video battery life up to at least 10 hours

They really do need to have a large amount of storage for the HD storage... I don't know what they're going to offer, but it better not be like 30 gigs or something small like that. On the video battery life, the screen is OLED and will consume less energy and it will also be a flash based device which should help as well.

Um the models are 8,16,and 32 gb for zune hd,and if they where going to be selling 64gb or 120gb it would have to be flash not harddrive because of the touch. Plus it would be very expensive if they did Zune HD 64gb=800$?

u guys have to understand, compare how long apple been in this market? compare that to how long zune has been here, u cant expect zune to catch up to the ipod this quick, but i think in a few years they can be a serious threat

Zune HD will be the first decent try of Microsoft to outrange the iPod, however I think its too late, iPods have a bigger community, includding MILLIONS of apps on the App Store, and most of them are free. Microsoft have let too much time before actually making a good enemy for the iPod, but maybe Zune can still win some market. I just bought an iPhone 3g and Im not changing it for no Zune.
