  • Who was David Lean's mentor?

  • Spielberg is my favorite storyteller

  • Kate Capshaw is such a MILF Spielberg has really got it all, fame, money, a dream job, legendary status, AND a gorgeous wife.

  • What the hell??? It's the grandpa from UP!!!!!!! :P

  • 3:45 CLINT EASTWOOD!

  • Gaston088able, who the hell are you to judge me? I've seen every film by Scorsese, Spielberg, Kubrick, Polanski, Lumet. I know my shit. You are the idiot. You're judging my thoughts and feelings without even understanding what you're saying. Do you know why Citizen Kane is regarded as the greatest film ever made? It's for all the same reasons Cameron's films will age like whine while films by Polanski, Spielberg, etc, disappear into obscurity.

  • @LukeLovesRose @lukelovesrose

steven spielberg is a nice film maker who inspired the world to dream bigger. he deserves this award . james cameron is also a nice film maker but here spielberg is getting his award for his contribution for cinema. we may have our favorites but we should appreciate or atleast we should not to talk negatively about some ones success.

  • @kubriksword

You're lucky I actually watch for replies to my comments. I made that comment 5 months ago and you're replying to it, NOW?

Cameron's contribution has been noticed, evaluated or appraised yet, because there are too many damn people out there, refusing to take his work seriously. So, you won't be seeing Cameron's inspiration on filmmaking for a little longer, unfortunately.

  • GUYS! STOP WAISTING TIM WITH "LUKELOVESROSE" HE IS THE ONLY PERSON WHI I KNOW THA TTHINKS CAMERON FILMS ARE ORIGINAL AND DEPP!....CAMERON IS A VISUAL MASTER AND ENTERTAINER! (NOTHING WRONG WITH THAT)....but this guy thinks camEron is at the same level of SCORSESE,SPIELBERG,KUBRICK,POLANSKY,LUMET,ETC,ETC,ETC....

  • NeoConnor, I was just remarking at how much time he was taking up at the Golden Globes. Other people need to use that stage for their own speeches, you know?

  • Yeah, but the Cecil B. Demille award always is the longest speech. Remember this year, when De Niro got it,and the previous year, when Scorsese got it? There speeches were pretty long, too. Besides, it Steven Spielberg. He can talk for as long as he wants. He has done more the film industry than anyone there, except for maybe Scorsese.

  • Scorsese > Spielberg

it doesn't matter if they are completely different, one is a true auteur and the other is a money hungry old man that pumps out blockbusters that serve no important purpose to cinema

  • house is clapping, that is all

  • This whole comment section is such a fail...

  • Nice speach a little boring tho, but like that he mentioned Scorsese as his inspiration at the start. Nice jew.

  • You people have to be joking with all this crap about Scorsese. Seriously what do people think is "great" about him? He makes very boring and pointless movies that I could have done without ever watching in my life Seriously what makes him great because his movies are more like real life? So? What dies that have do with a movie being good. If realistic is all you look for in a movie Schindler's List and Saving Private Ryan are two movies that Scorsese could ever dream of making.

  • @ultimatechaos2007 ok my tastes are generic? really man? you like titanic for fucksakes-wat is more generic than that. and i could have gone without watching the cheesefest of shitty dialogue that was titanic. i could have gone without watching raiders of the lost ark, where indiana jones was about to die for the 100000 time. scorsese is the man behind some of the most intense studies of human psyche. and dont compare schindler's list to scorsese's work. schindler's list is good. noth that good

  • good god! 2:55 that scared me :D

  • number one speilberg...

  • Yack, yack, yack. Wrap it up, Spielberg!

  • No need to be rude. Spielberg is a genius. I can listen to him talk about film all day, because all that passion that shows up in his films is on display when ever you see him in interviews or acceptance speeches. I know you like Cameron, but Spielberg is worthy of recognition, and he deserved this.

  • @NeoConnor1 yeah this idiot of lukelovesrose is written some thing that they are ridiculous...search here the trailer of "HUGO" and read his comments!

  • what's P. Daddy or whatever his name is doing there?

  • Why are people comparing both Scorsese and Spielberg? Both are excellent directors and made great films.

  • Really DO not compare speilberg and scorsese no matter what message scorsese things tell you about te lives of oters and collabs speilberg is JUST as good

  • You cant compare Scorcesse and Spielberg... get over it

  • Thats MY inspiration there....Spielberg thank you so very much for my life goal and ambition, Acting and Film making.

  • Spielberg is much better than Scorsese !!!

  • come on!

spielberg and scorcese are both completely different filmmakers! how can you say one is better than the other?

theyre both awesomely talented and i adore Steven Spielberg's movies

  • @ReklawRemix sorry bud, speilbergs beloved indiana jones that i saw like 30 years ago was exhilarating, but i went back to it this few days back after seeing this man, i dont know how to put it, but the film lost SO MUCH POWER. like now it feels so cheesy, it wierd. but scorsese movies feel as gritty as they were 30 years back. a week ago i would have agreed with you. but now i really can't bud

  • @malows1234 well, i have to disagree, which is strange cos im a lot younger than u are... and don't call me bud.

  • @malows1234 well i am 19 but i am sorry i haven't seen raiders of the lost ark till recently, but are u going to tell the close calls are not cheesy? let me put it this way filmaker that are derivitives of steven speilberg style of filmmaking=michael bay(the thrill), roland emmerich(the stupid close calls and oh shit moments).

fimakers that were born because of scorsese=quentin tarantino(states that taxi driver is among his favorite inspirations, paul thomas anderso/

  • @malows1234

You're 19, malows1234?? LOL. Get some life experience before you trash a film or a filmmaker.

  • @LukeLovesRose budy i am not bashing spielberg, jesus, just saying scorsese has made movie that have a longer life line. thats all i saying.

  • @malows1234

Um, I was referring to all of the remarks you've made against Cameron and his latest masterpieces, you idiot.

  • @LukeLovesRose masterpeices, dude if HE EVER made a masterpeice it was back in the 80's. now he is a shitty director..... i mean think of it this way. he is a carbon copy of a goerge lucas in the making, creative director(terminator....star wars) to a technical director that doesn't give a shit about story or characters and cares only about special effects (avatar......the shitty prequels) i hope you see the pattern.

  • @malows1234

Your opinion. A very childish, uneducated opinion, but can I really expect any less from a 19-year-old wise ass?? Jesus. If you knew half the shit I know about filmmaking right now, you wouldn't be comparing James freakin' Cameron to a hack entrepreneur like George Lucas.

  • @LukeLovesRose yes, i am so sorry james cameron is not a hack entrepreneur, he is a hack, generic james cameron storyline- cheesy lines+ two people fall in love from different social classes or watever, and then they have kinky sex somehow, and then right after they do CATASTROPHE strikes. and the villans are just overly stereoptypically bad. he used to be talented in the 80's just like lucas in the 70's, but now they both awe over graphics now. second both of them never were or will be scorsese

  • @malows1234

LOL. Well, generic is generic for a reason, dumbass. Have you ever heard the expression, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it"? I doubt it. The formula stories that Cameron put up on screen in Titanic and Avatar work, no matter what. And, obviously, you didn't actually see T1 or T2, because they were not formulaic in the least. People still like to perform Shakespeare. They still make stories similar to the greatest Shakespeare plays, dumbass. BUT, if a film has no plot, it's nothing.

  • @malows1234 Sorry buddy but you have bad and pretty generic taste in movies. people like you are usually obsessed with The Godfather. Scorsese movie are very boring, dull, and pointless. slow paced and being based on true stories doesn't make good movie. Cameron on the other hand has made masterpiece such as Titanic. and T2 that Scorsese would never be able to accomplish. And Spielberg is a chameleon can make all types of movie he doesn't always make the same type of movies like Scorsese

  • @ultimatechaos2007 ok godfather is good but beyond the point is you bashing scorsese. spielberg or cameron could NEVER make a movie like Taxi Driver (greatest first person character study ever). AFI ranks raging bull as 4 greatest film of all time, higher than any cameron or spielberg film. cameron make the same shit over and over. there is always a kinky romance before catastrophe (avatar(alien sex->tree burned down) titanic-> rose and jack sex(and ship starts sinking). cameron spielber=shit!

  • @malows1234

Read my previous comment. You need to grow up and realize that there are only 7 stories that can be told and told well. Cameron has used two of those stories and told them, damn near perfectly on film. And, now, I really regret saying anything derogatory about Spielberg. You're fucking idiot, kid.

  • @LukeLovesRose whose ass was that number 7 pulled out of? secondly dude Cameron is predictable, But ok, fine lets say i dont mind the predictability, the one thing that makes cameron a derivitive low end filmmaker, is how shitty his dialogue is, i mean goddd, he just doesn't have the brain to tell that Kate Winslet yelling "i'm flying is cheesy as fuck his characters are so black and white. either they stereotypical good , or stereotypical bad. like jake sully was the one good marine blah bla

  • @malows1234

::Yawn:: You're getting tiresome. Seriously! Jake was the ONLY real marine in Avatar. Every other person, toting weapons on Pandora were mercs. Jake was the only person doing the right thing. Everyone else would have done anything and everything for a buck.

"I'm flying, Jack." I don't think you can figure out why she said that, because you can't think or feel above your waist. You're still young, dumb and full of cum. Besides, that's not the only thing perfect thing in that scene

  • @LukeLovesRose YOURE ARE AN IDIOT!...CAMERON IS YOUR LOVER OR SOMETHING???.....

  • @ReklawRemix couldn't agree more , you don't see Spielberg doing gangster pictures, and you don't see Scorsese doing alien movies

  • Spielberg is great! he has made some of the best films of our time, but now a days he seems to make popcorn films for pure entertainment.

    But Scorcesse is just .....WOW!

  • LMAOO...JayZ at 4:56 looked soo bored lol......

  • Speilberg and scorsese are two wonderful filmmakers who obviosly have different approaches skills and focus in genre but really they are both as good as each other seriously worldwide spelberg IS very well known as is scorsese

  • lol nah spielber gis better, but scorcesse is cool.

  • Why are you guys hating on Speilberg? Scorcesse got his this year! They're both great.

  • @ImNotThere100 Considering Spielberg pioneered blockbuster filmaking, I think he's actually the most influencial.

  • I love Scorcesse, but when Spielberg was at his prime he was basically the God of movies. His best films illustrate the magic, imagination and excitement of cinema better than any director before or since. They may not challenge the viewer as much as those of other directors such as Scorcesse but they definately entertain us the most. Come back to us Spielberg. Make your type of movies again.

  • Spielberg is a wonderful entertainer: Jaws, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Close Encounters, Catch Me If You Can, Jurassic Park, fantastic. That said, I don't think he's a very good serious filmmaker. He'll start off brilliantly and then wimp out into sentimentality. Still, a beautiful speech.

  • @TulseLuper You can't fault Spielberg for being sentimental. That's just his style. That's like faulting Scorcesse for being a realist.

  • @thedeparted12345 There's a difference between sentiment and sentimentality. It's a Wonderful Life is incredibly sentimental, but it's well-earned sentiment and it's rightly considered a classic.

  • @Rascasseman Which is a great film until the crappy, sentimental ending. None of Spielberg's movies have anything on Raging Bull, King of Comedy, Taxi Driver, Last Temptation of Christ, or Goodfellas.

  • They all know, we all know, what he is saying. That is real class right there. However small the circle of stars that they tried to show us as he spoke, there are the people who know who did the real work and breathed, bled and lived for great cinema..

  • i think they're both ace, go guys go!

  • @Rascasseman

You must be kidding me. I simply adore Spielberg and all and he is definitely one of the greatest directors of all time but no way he's better than Scorsese, he may be a little more innovative but Scorsese is much better story teller and he also feels the plot a bit better than Spielberg. Heck they are both great.

  • I'd like you to argue of Spielberg beeing one of the greatest director of all time.

  • Well, well Tom cruise have a Reptilian Eyes at 2:54 , it is so disturbing!

  • scorsese is the best! all around director

than spielberg, steven spielberg is a great visionary director

  • Scorsese deserved it more than him, Scorsese has been churning out better movies for a lot longer time.

  • @Tarturus8803

Well Scorsese has got it now

  • Scorcesse is Waaaaaay more of a Legendary Filmaker Than Spielberg.......Spielberg is the most sucessful commercially but Scorcesse is Just Scorcesse!!

  • i couldn't have said it in a better way. i am very sure that most of the movies in my dvd collection have been directed by martin scorsese. and now i am going to buy the martin scorsese collection. i cannot live without marty's movies now.

  • @assil1789 Scorsese is my favorite director of all time but Spielberg still deserves his respect, the man can make "Commercial/kid's movies"(Jurassic park,ET) just as well as he can make Serious/personal movies(Saving private ryan,Schindler's list). One of the best filmmakers of the last 40 years... Love him or Hate him.

  • Yeah please upload that movie montage as well, it was really amazing to watch

  • spielberg and scorcese both awsome!!

  • He makes the greatest movies on earth.

  • minority report is awsome

  • Seriously the montage that came before this was one of the most inspiring ever. Load it back up!

  • 6:14 LEGENDARY

  • wheres the movie montage
