@EJthecountryboyGRAY So you have two pipes comin down after each cat, not connected at all, no y or x pipe? If you gut the cats the light will come on unless you have the ECM tuned through Wait4Me, Blackbear, Nelson, etc. And, if I were you, I would just have true duals, cats, no mufflers.

@EJthecountryboyGRAY I think so, yes. But, I would not buy one of the generic handheld programmers. I would go through one of the mail order companies that I listed. I went with Wait4Me on my Blazer, my buddy went with Blackbear on his 05 Z71.

If you're gonna get mufflers, get like a dual in, dual out; if you get two mufflers, single in single out, it will sound weird. I like the sound of no cats, dual in dual out flowmaster, personally

@EJthecountryboyGRAY No, I gotcha on the true dual issue. A buddy of mine has true dual two super 44s on his 5.3, and its alright. I would go two original 40 series, si/so or true dual 10 series. it wont pop that much drivin, but it will revin up. It will pop in the muffler and not really at the tips with no mufflers. I dont think dual in dual out would literally be considered true dual, but it would probably be louder due to the increased resonance.

@cnocher02 I've heard folks say the 44 is loudest,but the original 40 seems louder to me,I got a bud with true dual original 40s no cats,and it pops a little bit,but don't pop much,but I'm thinking about either them or the glasspacks!But about the 10,another guy told me his dont pop,but one guy told me his did.Man,mufflers are so hard to chose,I'm thinking I'll just go with the glasspacks,or just leave it catback straights.Thanks again for the help,and if you recommend anything else let me know!

On backpressure, not really, just a little low end grunt lost to top end. Not sure on rich/lean condition, haven't checked the plugs lately

As long as his pipes arent too big and dont decrease flow then he shouldent have any problems but he should be making more power

Yup, It raises your power band a little bit  and you notice an increase in top end because now your motor can breathe but yeah deff power in general.

My buddies roommates Sierra sounds about the same and has the same set up without cats. Its probably the loudest truck i have ever heard...didnt say it sounded good tho lol, Its alright till about 4-6k rpm then its rasp-tasic, fun to give people headaches tho :)

The L33 is a High Output 5.3. It has the heads from a Corvette engine, flat top pistons, higher compression ratio, and higher lift cam. (All from the factory) You can tell by looking for "L33" in the glove box, or the 8th character of the VIN will be a "B".

It will be loud as hell, but you'll lose a little low end power; not a whole lot, but some. Does your truck have the L33 engine? You can tell by looking on the label in the glove box. If so, you've got the High Output 5.3 and it will sound good. Even with the LM7 it'll sound good, which is what the truck in this vid has. I would go with just 3.5 inch tips with 2.5 inch pipe.

Yeah it would. But get a custom tune from Westers, Blackbear, or Wait4Me instead of a handheld. Gutting the cats won't mess up anything. If you don't have some type of muffler like a Flowmaster though, you will lose a little low end with the cats gutted. I love having no cats.

Don't take this response the wrong way, but HELL NO!! LOL, nah it doesn't. This truck, mine, and countless others I know of don't have cats and run just fine. You typically lose some low end, but you gain top end hp. Now, with no muffler (Flowmaster, Magnaflow) you will lose backpressure which means you have less torque.

Not at all. If you gut the cats, I wouldn't take off that Flowmaster though. But you can remove the cats safely. Your Service Engine Light will come on, however. But again, it will not harm anything. Any more questions just ask.
