@mom0squishy Umm...it's definitely better than Pablo Honey and The Bends. It's also unique and interesting. I'd rather listen to another TKOL style album than The Bends.
@BibleBlack667 my measurement of Radiohead albums generally goes by how well it gels together as a whole. By that, i absolutely love it. Youre not the first person i have known to say they dont like it at first. But it hits you
Ordered this 3 weeks ago. Arrived 1 week ago. Tonight first chance to give it a proper listen. MOJO mag reviewed it as four decent songs on an 8 track album. Frankly, finding it hard to find which four tracks they rated. Supremely disappointing. Huge RH fan - but this - why bother, frankly ...
@UberPonageDude Radiohead has a big enough following where they figure that they can write the kind of music they want to write and still maintain a devoted fan base. And guess what, they do. This album is great and if you dont like it don't insult radiohead, blame your taste in music.
not sure if this version of mr magpie is going to grow on me... fits well in its place, but seems to have lost its liveliness. but i think the rest of the album is totally rad. little by little, lotus flower, codex and give up the ghost are particularly tasty. separator seems to deliberately suggest that this is the first half of a two-part thing? musically as well as thematically.
God damn. Every time I make myself watch on this video I hate it even more. Everybody knows coldplay made this stuff first. GO GO RETRO KNOWLEDGE FTW!!!! Thumbs up If you knew this as well! We'll show these idiots lololol
as much as i love this album, i really wish it were longer. i mean we waited four years and got less than 40 minutes.. that's why i like KOL from the basement, you get those two extra songs. if anyone hasn't heard those, please do yourself a favor and go listen!!
No band has weathered the winds of musical change as impeccably as Radiohead. That's one of the many reasons why they're my favorite band. I mean, they've gone from a grunge-like sound (Pablo Honey) to alternative rock (The Bends and OK Computer) to electronica (Kid A) to various genres at once (Amnesiac) to experimental rock (Hail to the Thief) back to alternative rock (In Rainbows) and back to electronica (The King of Limbs). The most incredible thing is that they still haven't turned to crap.
@judehoffpauir In Rainbows was supreme - bought an entire new hifi system (yes, I'm that old to use the term"hifi") just to listen to this upstairs .. TKOL though - be honest - if this was their debut, would you buy the follow-up?
@BibleBlack667 Being that I'm a huge fan of abstract electronic music, I can appreciate Radiohead's excessive experimental weirdness in this album and yes, I would buy their follow-up.
@judehoffpauir ditto fan of that - on second listen now - 3 good tracks, maybe - but, less than you'd expect. KA was better, agreed. Bad (foul) mood today though - maybe not the best day to appraise something! First magic mushrooms heard alone to Music for Airports - THAT was abstract in the extreme!!
@mrcadzilla - more likely due to a breathable atmosphere, water, oxygen, gravity, plants, food, and the 10% or so of people that are worth knowing. All the rest can go under the carpet. Sad to say- very sad - but in my opinion this Oxford crew peaked years ago ...
No shit, dude. You didn't even have to say that. Saying Radiohead is better than Justin Bieber is like saying that Adam Lambert is a total homo; it's obvious as all hell.
I listened a couple times on youtube, decided i liked it, and bought it directly from the artist. I prefer this method to supporting the mafiaa. thanks
This album doesn't seem to retain the typical high-emotion vibe of past RH albums. Songs seem to flow from one end to the other, with few crescendos and transitions. The overall sound seems to be more of a constant, flowing rhythm. Those expecting the usual emotional impact of RH will be startled by this album. Call me crazy, but once this album clicked for me, the feelings it induced reminded me more of Burial, Phaeleh, and similar artists, of course with its own unique characteristics.
@SpireaXY I could say the same thing about your comment. Why do you have to take the time out of your life to call someone a dick for respectfully sharing their opinion about music?
@SpireaXY I could say the same about your comment. Did I take time out of my day to call someone a dick? No. I respectfully shared my opinion about music. And anyways, do you even realize that Thom Yorke is a huge fan of Burial? No question Burial and others like him have had an influence on Thom's songwriting.
@psychoanomaly1 I just sent a text by mistake. Oops. I love or actuallly quite like Burial.Radiohead don't sound like Burial or Autechre. They sound like Radiohead. A bit like Led, Aphex, BBC electronics dept. Is there a reason you hate me?
@SpireaXY Apologies friend, I thought you deliberately insulted me. I don't hate you man, I was just a little shocked is all. I agree with you as well, RH does not sound like Burial. My comparison was not to melodies or beats, but more so to the feelings that the album induces. Burial's work makes me feel very... tranced out, alien, or even spiritual, it's hard to explain, whereas RH's earlier work makes me feel overwhelmed by emotion. TKOL however makes me feel more like Burials stuff.
@psychoanomaly1 It's still incredible, but many of my friends (also huge RH fans) did not get this album, and it to me awhile to appreciate it as well. TKOL just feels a bit more subdued and rhythmic. While it is what it is, and comparison can only say so much (like all music), it still feels a bit like Burial and like-dubstep in structure, but not so much in sound.
@desireeivegbuna1 Lotus Flower is the first song since I was a kid listening to my parents Beatles Help album that I can listen to again and again and again. She's Got A Ticket To Ride.
Hey Radiohead fans, don't forget to compare Muse to Coldplay and Coldplay to Radiohead and Radiohead to Keane and Muse to Muse and back to Radiohead again. Seriously, who gives a fuck? They're all British bands. I'm American and love them all! <3
Ya radio head is so innovative that it takes your subconscious mind time to process it all(charlie sheen)....Remember "OK COMPUTER"...everyone first thought it was crap...who knew?
One of the best bands ever good album to what a epic by a epic band i seen RadioHead in 2008 and they were epic they played the In/Rainbows set and songs The Bends,Ok Computer,Kid A, and Hail to the Thief. There style of music has changed alot from The Bends and Ok Computer days,Pablo Honey is now a forgotten classic if it came out today it would be one of the best albums. If the The Bends was out now it would be at number 1 for a long time Ok Computer will be a classic for the next 20 years.
I don't think Radiohead made this album to be commented... and these who compare Radiohead and Coldplay probably listen to particular gender of music because it fits their clothes, but that's all.
I know people have said this, but this album would feel so complete with The Butcher, The Daily Mail, Staircase and Supercollider. Might be top 4 RH albums then, which makes its insanely good ...
Thom York and radiohead create pure creative originality and music that no other band can create for the past 20 years. They keep on revolutionizing their own sound and music, PURITY EXCELLENCE, SOUND. their just on a whole other league.
Some people criticise this album, saying it's not as good as the others. But this might just be their best in my opinion! This, or Amnesiac. You know you're a fan when you enjoy Pulk/Pull Revolving Doors.
@JohnFriedwich Coldplay has said that Radiohead is their main influence, and the reason they are so similar is due to the fact that they were widely influenced by Ok Computer.
By your own logic, Radiohead wakes up crying because it isn't Pink Floyd or The Pixies, because those are their main influences.
I'm a big fan on Radiohead, but sometimes the ignorance of the fans just baffles me.
@mcainiac This may be because the media perceived Coldplay to be the band that took the throne in rock music that Radiohead had seemed to promise to reign over with their first three albums, and yet outright defied with their release of Kid A. That move is one I wholeheartedly support, just to clarify which side of the fence I'm on. So their work up to and including this new album is also something I find sheerly delightful.
@mcainiac You're right, the only thing connecting them is they are quite posh. Apples and Oranges isn't going to help. Apples and dog shit? Does'nt work. Let the Coldplay fans cry to My Jeans Are Too Tight #1 and The Biro Pen Tattoo Has Given Me A Skin Condition.
Coldplay isnt bad, but people need to shut the fuck up about coldplay and hate on all this shit. Your just a bunch of a dumbass humans. Coldplay has there fans, and radiohead has theres. I've never seen one coldplay fan bitch about radiohead. So shut the fuck and listen to the god damn music.
This is not my favourite Radiohead album, in fact it's probably my second least favourite (after Pablo Honey of course), but it's still probably the best album of 2011...
The last four tracks are beginning to sound like vintage Head to me. Still, the first four are beginning to sound like vintage Abba so what do I know?
@IrishGuitarist fuck your mother who failed raising you. But I guess she didn't care much of raising a failed abortion ;) Oh well, better luck next time when she remembers to jump down the stairs before it's too late <3
@IrishGuitarist test tube baby eh? well I guess they've started to make bastards out of sheep shaggers and the poor sheep. Bet you got lots of white curly hair....
@SergioAllIndie Man you said shit after shit in this comment! I can tell you that I'm a real fan of Radiohead, but I don't like this album,I apreciate the idea, but I simply didn't like it.And doesn't make me less fan of Radiohead, cuz be a fan is not just like everything the band does, like a rule.If you like, good for you!But that, doesn't make you more fan than me or someone else who didn't like. And I'll be with Radiohead until the end,is not a album or a music that will make me stop liking them
@SergioAllIndie radiohead would 100% disagree with you. truely great artists like radiohead need to be kept honest by their fans, not told that they shit gold nuggets

Well... shit, I don't like this at first listen at all, and I don't think it will grow on me by the looks of it.
In Rainbows was so perfect... :(

@LaughingUltros it does grow on you lol try to listen to it with a decent set of head phones makes so much a difference

@seanymo
I hope so.
I'm on vacations and all I have are these crappy iPod headphones, when I get home I'll listen to it on my Sony V6 which is considerably better.
To me, OK Computer was melody, KID A was rythm, In Rainbows was a perfect fusion, TKOL is just... I don't know what it is.

@SergioAllIndie
You do realize you lost your objectivity there. For instance, I love Alice Cooper to bits, but he made some real shitty hair metal music.
